The Phenomenon of the Hybrid Classroom
This research study was completed to explore the perceptions of teachers who have experienced online and hybrid teaching platforms in the United States. The purpose of the study focused on the satisfaction and success of students from the viewpoint of the teacher. Social Interdependence Theory, and Social Constructivist provided the theoretical framework for the study. The theories guiding the study include the Collaborative Learning Theory and Developmental Learning Theory. The research utilized interviews, focus groups, and questionnaires. Eight certified teachers participated in the study where they shared their experiences and perceptions on student success and satisfaction for online courses. Data gathered from the study were evaluated through NVivo software where it was coded and charted by theme. Information gathered from the interview and focus group process was also organized by theme to be analyzed. Results indicated that teachers who have taught both in the online and hybrid setting believe that hybrid classroom opportunities produce a higher satisfaction and success rate for students. Common themes from the study demonstrated that more accountability, collaboration, and interaction were benefits of the hybrid model over the online only model of education. Future class designers, students, teachers, and administrators can employ the implications from this research to improve student success in online education
Relationship Between Advisor Servant Leadership Behaviors and First-Year Students\u27 Intent to Persist
This correlational study sought to determine the relationship between advisor servant leadership behaviors and first-year students’ intent to persist from fall 2016 to spring 2017 and from spring 2017 to fall 2017 with students in a private, four-year, religiously affiliated university in the United States. The research was grounded in Tinto’s (1975) persistence theory and Greenleaf’s (1977) theory of servant leadership. The Advisor Servant Leadership Behavior Scale (ASLBS) (Paul, 2012) and descriptive analysis were applied. Study results indicated that all four servant-leader constructs, degree awareness (DA), conceptual mapping (CM), advising environment (AE), and holistic growth (HG), were associated with advisors’ influence on their students’ decisions to continue from fall term to spring term; only DA and AE were associated with intent to return from spring term to the next fall term. Based on the results, in a private, four-year, non-profit, religiously affiliated university in the United States, combined servant leader behaviors (DA, CM, AE, and HG) are associated with student persistence during an academic year. DA and AE behaviors are related to student persistence into the advancing year
The Perceptions of Teachers in a K-8 School on the Implementation and Impact of Culturally Responsive-Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (CR-PBIS)
Despite decades of effort to change disciplinary practices in American schools, racial disparities continue and are most prevalent for Black students, according to national Office Disciplinary Referral data. While Culturally Responsive-Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (CR-PBIS) is the result of years of adjustments to weave cultural responsiveness into Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) systems and decrease racial disciplinary disparities, the results at K-12 schools have been inconsistent. Cultural Race Theory, which recognizes racism is reflected in all societal systems and is the foundation for this study, may provide a clue as to why racial disciplinary disparities continue. This study took place in a school that had implemented CR-PBIS with fidelity for over five years and examined teacher perceptions about the implementation and impact of CR-PBIS through focus groups while also collecting data on the level of culturally responsive practices occurring in classrooms. The results indicate racism in societal systems funnel down into school systems and manifests as explicit and implicit bias on the part of teachers. Research results additionally suggest that students of color are experiencing racial microaggressions on multiple levels through the words and actions of staff, the physical classroom environment, and curriculum and supplemental materials

Opportunism as Crucible: Rethinking Equity in View of Reliance Interests and Legal Evolution
This Article offers and defends a nuanced definition of opportunism in the context of legal decision-making by differentiating between opportunism in the broad sense and the particularized phenomenon of cognizably malignant opportunism. It subsequently proceeds by developing a normative critique of the case for broader invocation of counteropportunistic equitable remedies, alongside a defense of the reliance and gap-filling functions performed by opportunistic actors. Centrally, I challenge the suggestion that the existence of opportunism in private law warrants a revival of the doctrines of ex post equity. I argue, instead, that opportunism serves an important structural purpose where the evolution of ex ante legal rules is concerned, and contend that while equity-oriented moral reasoning might serve to inform the character and construction of such rules, the use of equity as an ex post remedy should generally be rejected by judicial decision makers
Digital Fabrication of an Atmospheric Aerosol Impactor
Atmospheric aerosol (AA) particles are defined as solid or liquid particles suspended in the air. AA particles smaller than 10 μm (1x10-5 meters) in diameter are small enough to bypass the upper respiratory system which functions as a filter for harmful substances entering the lungs. AA particles can be collected using a device called an aerosol impactor. After collection, the particles can be analyzed offline for chemical composition using a variety of analytical techniques. The weight of a commercially manufactured AA particle impactor poses an issue if it is attached to a mobile AA particle sampling platform such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
