Experimental analysis and research on the effect of long-term vibration on the performance of vehicle carbon canisters
Conference paper presented at the 9th International Symposium on Vehicle Emission Supervision and Environment Protection (VESEP2023), Wuhan, China, June 28-30, 2023.The long-term vibration of the carbon canister during vehicle operation can lead to changes in its performance, thereby affecting its performance on evaporation emissions. A vibration test bench simulating vehicle vibration characteristics is used to simulate the working state of the carbon canister under actual driving conditions, analyze the amount of carbon powder precipitation and flow resistance changes in the canister after long-term operation, and compare the adsorption and desorption performance of the canister before and after aging and their effect on the evaporative emissions. The results showed that the carbon canister will produce carbon powder precipitation after being continuously subjected to the forward and backward vibration of the vehicle. This leads to a decrease in the ultimate adsorption and desorption capacity of the aged carbon canister for fuel vapor, with a more significant decrease in adsorption capacity. However, in the 2-day Diurnal Breathing Loss(DBL) test, due to the increase in flow resistance of the aged carbon canister, it is more difficult for the adsorbed fuel vapor to diffuse outward. For the unsaturated carbon canister, fuel leakage and evaporative emissions can be reduced. In evaporative emission management, it is necessary to adjust the control strategy reasonably based on the working status of the carbon canister
Proximity and impact of university-industry collaborations. A topic detection analysis of impact reports
Data availability: Data will be made available on request.The probability to initiate university-industry collaborations (UICs), their intensity and quality, are influenced by the proximity between the collaboration partners. However, little is known about the relationship between collaborators' proximity and impact of UICs. Building on an original database of 415 UICs in the United Kingdom, we analyse the association between collaborators' proximity and the extent to which UICs generate economic, social and knowledge impact. Modelling Loans to Non-Financial Corporations in the Eurozone: A Long-Memory Approach
JEL: C22, C32, C51, H81Data Availability: Data are available from the authors upon request.Supplementary Information is available online at: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11294-024-09909-x#Sec19 .This paper uses fractional integration and cointegration methods to analyze the long-run relationship between loans to non-financial corporations, real gross domestic product, real gross fixed capital formation, the cost of borrowing differential between long- and short-term rates, and a proxy for the cost of debt, securities, and equity issuance. The analysis includes four Eurozone countries, namely Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, and spans the most recent decades. More precisely, fractional integration and cointegration models are estimated to investigate the persistence of the series as well as their long-run relationships and short-run dynamics using both unrestricted and restricted specifications. The univariate results are heterogeneous, the highest degrees of integration being found in the case of loans to non-financial corporations, whilst the multivariate ones provide evidence of a single fractional cointegration vector as well as of a lower adjustment speed to the long-run equilibrium compared to previous studies in all four countries. Moreover, both the short- and long-run response of loans to exogenous shocks to real gross domestic product and the cost of borrowing differentials differs across countries because of country-specific factors.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature

GPR126 is a specifier of blood-brain barrier formation in the mouse central nervous system
Data availability. All supporting data are provided in the Supporting Data Values file.The blood-brain barrier (BBB) acquires unique properties to regulate neuronal function during development. The formation of the BBB, which occurs in tandem with angiogenesis, is directed by the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Yet the exact molecular interplay remains elusive. Our study reveals the G protein–coupled receptor GPR126 as a critical target of canonical Wnt signaling, essential for the development of the BBB’s distinctive vascular characteristics and its functional integrity. Endothelial cell–specific deletion of the Gpr126 gene in mice induced aberrant vascular morphogenesis, resulting in disrupted BBB organization. Simultaneously, heightened transcytosis in vitro compromised barrier integrity, resulting in enhanced vascular permeability. Mechanistically, GPR126 enhanced endothelial cell migration, pivotal for angiogenesis, acting through an interaction between LRP1 and β1 integrin, thereby balancing the levels of β1 integrin activation and recycling. This second chapter starts with the key requirements for the welcoming of students and apprentices as newcomers to the practice environment from the perspective of promoting a sense of belongingness. A distinction is made between the needs of practice and workplace learners in the context of apprenticeship and for supervision to be characterised by a facilitative approach. The development of professional identity through practice learning is explored to ensure that supervisors can support a range of learners to explore their values and beliefs as part of a process of authentic professional learning
The Shadows of Sovereignty: A Visual Genealogy of Dark Knight Archetypes
This paper investigates the role of the dark knight archetype in the theory of sovereignty. The dark knight archetype has repeatedly emerged in popular culture, but has never been fully explored in jurisprudence and political theory. The aim is to develop a new visual method to bridge the distance between the theory and the tropes that have historically been used to create and justify the notion of sovereignty. Sovereignty is understood here not only as a founding concept of modern legal theory, but also as a trope: a special kind of narrative, illustrated, capable of being modernized, and yet maintaining its initial trends; one that is foundational and colonial, and capable of institutionalizing subjects and sovereigns. Strategically following the works of Agamben, Benjamin, Jung and Warburg, this paper analyses – in a psychoanalytical sense – the unconscious dimensions of sovereignty from evidence collected in popular culture and political history. Disrupting MMORPGs gaming: Exploring and renegotiating end-user license agreements in the Metaverse
This paper explores key legal issues surrounding gaming platforms that provide/host Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games. Since we are entering the next epoch of the Internet, Web3.0 – and the emergence of Metaverses that operate within this space, this paper conducts an inquiry into the key facets of end-user license agreements (EULAs) used in the platforms that may likely need to be renegotiated. Firstly, how do we reconcile the legal regulatory status of gaming platforms in a decentralized Web3.0 Metaverse? Secondly, how can the rights of end users of gaming platforms be protected vis-à-vis the EULAs in this space? And thirdly, what specific aspects in existing EULAs are likely needed to be renegotiated in light of a decentralized Web3.0 Metaverse? Institutional mechanisms, ownership and bank risk-taking during crises

Using contemporaneous data for 40 countries, we show that institutional mechanisms, investor protection, bank regulation and supervision (BRS) rules, and ownership, reduced bank risk-taking around the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) and the Eurozone Crisis/Sovereign Debt Crisis periods. Institutional mechanisms have the strongest risk-reducing impacts on bank risk-taking, whereas foreign and government ownership have the weakest impacts. The greater the distance from bank default the lower the likelihood of crisis regimes. Investor protection increased (decreased) the likelihood of the GFC (Eurozone Crisis) regimes. Government ownership increased (decreased) the likelihood of the GFC (Eurozone Crisis) regimes. Using a generalized bivariate copula function, we untangle the relation between crisis regimes and bank risk-taking by showing that higher risk-taking increases the likelihood of crisis regimes.This research is funded by the Vietnam National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) under grant number 502.02-2018.304
Effects of Si Solution on Stability of Early 3d Transition-Metal Tri-Aluminides, Al3T (T = Sc, Ti and V)
Addition of the early 3d transition metals results in formation of primary Al3T (T = Sc, Ti and V) phases in Al alloys during casting. The newly formed Al3T particles not only improve the mechanical performance of the products but also act as grain-refiners in the solidification processes. Meanwhile, experiments found impacts of impurities, such as Si, on the formation of the Al3T phases; the mechanism is not fully understood. We here investigate effects of Si solution on the stability and crystal chemistry of the Al3T phases using first-principles density-functional theory. The study has revealed a rich variety of effects of Si solution on the Al3T phases. Si solution stabilizes the D022-Al3Ti structure so that it becomes the ground state, taking over the binary D023 phase. Si solution in D022-V occurs only at elevated temperature. Si solution has little impact on the Al3Sc phase relationship.
