Enhancing Chaplaincy Visibility throughout the Hospital
To address the underutilization of chaplaincy services, North Shore University Hospital launched an initiative to enhance visibility and awareness by November 2025. This involved creating a promotional video and establishing a Spiritual Care Award. Implemented through interdisciplinary collaboration and targeted marketing, the project successfully garnered 317 YouTube views, 494 Viva Engage views, over 25 award nominations, and 90+ ceremony attendees, significantly increasing departmental engagement. Ongoing efforts include renovating the Meditation Room to further enhance chaplaincy access
Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Communication for Seamless Patient Care in the Operating Room
Recognizing that frequent staff transitions and inadequate handoff tools disrupted care, the project restructured relief schedules and introduced the SWITCH Handoff Tool. Preliminary results indicate that 40% of staff felt more prepared after using the new tool, suggesting improved RN-to-RN communication. The initiative is in its early stages, with plans for ongoing education and optimization to further strengthen patient safety protocols
Optimizing the Oncology Care Journey: Improving Patient Satisfaction Through Evidence- Based Nursing Interventions
This poster describes a quality improvement initiative on a 27-bed hematology/oncology unit, aimed at increasing HCAHPS recommend the hospital scores from 76.1%. Recognizing the complex needs of oncology patients, the unit implemented a multi-faceted approach. Key interventions include structured hourly rounding, daily multidisciplinary team rounds, bedside handoffs, protected sleep protocols, enhanced patient communication strategies (e.g., overhead announcements, welcome packets), and comprehensive discharge support. The initiative emphasizes sustained interdisciplinary team collaboration and staff engagement to continuously enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes
Data Driven Decision Making Utilization of RedCap to Gain Actionable Data on 8 Monti.
North Shore University Hospital, uniquely operating a centralized crash cart depot, sought to improve utilization management. They implemented a RedCap tracker with a 13-point survey to capture data on crash cart deliveries. Initial findings from August 2025 showed 178 deliveries (averaging 6 per day) to 38 different units, identifying the top 5 high-volume units. This data is crucial to ensure adequate crash cart availability for emergent patient care needs
