Withholding Supplemental Oxygen in Normoxic Myocardial Infarction Patients
This poster advocates for discontinuing routine supplemental oxygen for normoxic myocardial infarction patients due to evidence showing no benefit and potential harm. The proposed implementation at NSUH ED will focus on providing oxygen only when clinically indicated, supported by comprehensive staff education and updated protocols. This evidence-based practice aims to improve patient outcomes, reduce adverse events, and optimize resource use, with ongoing evaluation of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning
NSUH Rehabilitation Services
This poster presents a rehabilitation protocol for patients with Disorders of Consciousness (DoC) who are mechanically ventilated in acute care. Recognizing a critical gap in early stimulation due to transfer ineligibility, the initiative evaluates the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of using a tilt table combined with multisensory stimulation. The primary goal is to improve consciousness outcomes, measured by the Coma Recovery Scale-Revised, with secondary aims of successful ventilator weaning, progressive mobility, and increased discharge to inpatient rehabilitation. The intervention offers a feasible and well-tolerated approach to address these crucial rehabilitation needs
Epic OpTime
OpTime is Epic\u27s dedicated module for managing perioperative services, replacing previous Surgical Information Systems (SIS). It is utilized by surgeons, surgical nurses, coordinators, and administrative staff to streamline surgical scheduling, intraoperative documentation, and overall operating room management. Key features include complex scheduling for resources and staff, real-time OR visibility, comprehensive documentation across all surgical phases, supply and implant tracking, and robust analytics for operational efficiency
From Call to Care: Elevating Patient Satisfaction Through Timely Nurse Communication and Response
Faced with declining patient satisfaction regarding nurse communication and response times, a mixed antepartum/postpartum/GYN unit implemented a new communication workflow. The initiative mandated in-person call bell cancellation and integrated MS Teams for enhanced communication between CSAs, PCAs, and nurses regarding patient requests. Since implementation, patient satisfaction has steadily increased, positioning the unit to meet its 10% improvement target by December 2025
Feasibility and Safety of Treadmill Training in Patients with an Acute CVA
This poster evaluates the feasibility and safety of early high-intensity treadmill training for acute CVA patients in a hospital setting. A study of 14 patients showed significant improvements in ambulation distance, AMPAC scores, and gait speed, with no adverse events. This approach offers clinically meaningful functional gains, supporting its potential as an early intervention
