Intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry for Industry 4.0: Seizing financial benefits from supply chain relationship capital through enterprise green management
Prior research and practices of Industry 4.0 mostly centered on the intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry from a technical perspective. However, it remains unclear how social and environmental factors can improve companies' performance in their digital transformation under Industry 4.0. Our research addresses this gap by exploring how companies undergoing digital transformation can leverage their relationship capital and green management initiatives to improve their financial performance, benefiting the entire supply chain. Specifically, we developed a conceptual model that captures the relationship between supply chain relationship capital, enterprise green management, and financial performance and used structural equation modeling and SPSS PROCESS to empirically test the hypotheses with data collected from 308 Chinese manufacturing companies. The findings indicate that for companies in the digital transformation of Industry 4.0, supply chain relationship capital positively affects enterprise green management, which subsequently enhances financial performance. Meanwhile, supply chain relationship capital also indirectly improves companies’ financial performance by leveraging their green management initiatives. Our findings contribute to the literature by enriching the implications of relational capital in supply chains and strengthening the viability of green management. We also provide practical guidance for companies to effectively implement green management programs and exploit their relationship capital

Litigation as a Strategy for Environmental Movements Questioned: An Examination of Bergama and Artvin-Cerattepe Struggles
Litigation is being increasingly used by environmental movements in pursuit of justice as a last resort. The environmentally harmful actions of transnational corporations in addition to the incapability of international organizations and the unresponsiveness of states to inhibit this damage are pushing citizens to courts. However, courts’ ability to address environmental injustices remains dubious. This article problematizes the efficacy of litigation for environmental movements to achieve long-term justice by examining Bergama and Artvin-Cerattepe movements from Turkey, through a case-study approach and borrowing from grounded theory. It discusses the reasons why litigation may provide short-term gains for environmental movements but is of limited effectiveness for pursuing change in the long-term, such as non-implementation of court decisions, policy changes impacting the execution of judgements, insufficient sentences not offering enough deterrence for future, and power imbalances between litigants impacting the courtroom etc
Becoming One with the Neighborhood: Collaborative Art, Space-Making, and Urban Change in Izmir Daragac
Daragac is a former industrial, lower-income neighborhood in Turkey's third-largest city, Izmir. In 2015 several artists settled in the area and started a nonprofit initiative called the Daragac Collective (DC). DC has since organized numerous art events and exhibitions, receiving considerable interest and publicity. Yet, to date, the changes in Daragac's material landscapes have been subtle, and the area remains ungentrified, unlike similar examples in Turkey. This article argues that the collaborative art practice spearheaded by DC played a major role in the preservation of the neighborhood's urban texture. The artists became neighbors with the residents, benefited from the expertise of mechanics, and drew inspiration from the site, while the local community has contributed to the production, exhibition, and appreciation of artworks. Thus, art has become a tool for sociability and a catalyst for interpersonal, cultural, and cross-class exchanges, which could offer an alternative route to art-led urban change in Turkey
Framework for a sustainable supply chain to overcome risks in transition to a circular economy through Industry 4.0
Transition from a linear to a circular economy (CE) is a challenging process for a sustainable supply chain, and innovative process approaches and technologies are needed to deal with the risks involved. Industry 4.0 principles have great potential to achieve optimal sustainable supply chain solutions and are expected to add value to sustainable supply chain operations by increasing efficiency and resource utilisation. Therefore, Industry 4.0 supports companies transitioning to a CE through improving the efficiency and sustainability of their supply chain management. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the potential risks of the transition from a linear to a CE, with proposed Industry 4.0-based responses from an operations management perspective within the sustainable supply chain. Implementation of the study was conducted in a logistics company in Turkey. An integrated MCDM (Multi-criteria Decision Making) approach was based on Fuzzy AHP, and TODIM was used to analyse the association between risks and responses. According to the findings, the most important Industry 4.0-based responses are the integrated business processes for cross-functional collaboration, modular processes for simplification and standardisation, and continuous monitoring of the cost and performance throughout the supply chain by big data and analytics. This study may assist managers in managing risks in supply chain operations during the transition from a linear to a CE through Industry 4.0 based responses. The main contribution of this study is a greater understanding of the risks related to the transition from a linear to a circular economy, and proposals for Industry 4.0-based responses as a means of overcoming these risks in a sustainable supply chain context
