Solvable groups derived from fuzzy hypergroups
In this paper we introduce the smallest equivalence relation ξ ∗ on a finite fuzzy hypergroup S such that the quotient group S/ξ ∗ , the set of all equivalence classes, is a solvable group. The characterization of solvable groups via strongly regular relation is investigated and several results on the topic are presented
A decision-making process for evaluating the effectiveness of strategies for social inclusion of persons with disabilities.
In this paper we analyze the problems of disabled people in Italy and possible strategies for their social inclusion. Subsequently we present a hierarchical analytical procedure to focus on the objectives and criteria to address these issues. Finally we presents a picture of sustainable alternatives and presents a general decision-making process for the analysis of the validity of the various alternatives. Among the possible choices for the allocation of weights and scores, we highlight the effectiveness of the Analytic Hierarchy Thomas L. Saaty Process (AHP) based on interviews and pairwise comparisons.
Bourdieu sociologist of Flaubert
Questionnaires with the ‘bar’ in social sciences
Vougiouklis & Vougiouklis have proposed the replacement of Likert scales, usually used in questionnaires, with a bar. With this proposal a discrete situation is replaced by a fuzzy one. There are identified certain advantages concerning the use of the bar as compared to that of a scale during both the stages of filling-in as well as processing a questionnaire. The main advantage is the fact that it is much quicker to fill in and much easier to explain to participants. The bar provides the potential for different types of processing Likert scales cannot offer. Therefore the researchers are allowed to ascertain that the given answers follow the Gauss or a parabola distribution, and they have the opportunity to ‘correct’ this tendency. In this research it is offered a possibility of choosing amongst a number of alternatives by utilizing fuzzy logic in the same way as it has already been done in industry and combining mathematical models with multivalued operations. Finally, the suggested method is applied in a Course and Teaching Evaluation process by the students of Democritus University of Thrace
Approach of the value of an annuity when non-central moments of the capitalization factor are known: an R application with interest rates following normal and beta distributions
This paper proposes an expression of the value of an annuity with payments of 1 unit each when the interest rate is random. In order to attain this objective, we proceed on the assumption that the non-central moments of the capitalization factor are known. Specifically, to calculate the value of these annuities, we propose two different expressions. First, we suppose that the random interest rate is normally distributed; then, we assume that it follows the beta distribution. A practical application of these two methodologies is also implemented using the R statistical software
Neutrosophic filters in BE-algebras
Inthispaper, weintroducethenotionof(implicative)neutrosophicfilters in BE-algebras. The relation between implicative neutrosophic filters and neutrosophic filters is investigated and we show that in self distributive BE-algebras these notions are equivalent
Need for global and cultural awareness
Current and future operations and activities are more and more characterized by multinational collaboration, whether providing humanitarian assistance or keeping the peace, a single nation team is not able to work alone. Cultural adaptability and competence can significantly form the basis of a team performance
Fuzzy sets: motivations and first concepts
Starting from the Russel’s studies on the limits of the empiricism, some considerations about the concept of vagueness, are recalled in order to stress the motivations and the development of a foundational context for the fuzzy sets. The description of the facts of the physical reality expressed in terms of fuzzy sets draws its origin from the objective of “calculating with words” being vagueness in the facts and in the language representing them. The unique operations that satisfy a system of reasonable requirements are defined. A measure of the degree of fuzziness, the fuzzy entropy, is defined in terms of a functional over the fuzzy sets.
Fundamental hoop-algebras
In this paper, we investigate some results on hoop algebras and hyper hoop-algebras. We construct a hoop and a hyper hoop on any countable set. Then using the notion of the fundamental relation we define the fundamental hoop and we show that any hoop is a fundamental hoop and then we construct a fundamental hoop on any non-empty countable set
Beneish M-score and detection of earnings management in Italian SMEs
Accounting literature on the reliability of financial information presents several mathematical models whose purpose is to identify the existence of values manipulations. The phenomenon is described as earnings management and presents a broad discussion concerning the search for suitable models to measure the distortions in values. In this respect, the present paper aims to compare the ability of two versions of the same mathematical model of classify the risk of earnings manipulation in a discriminant way
