Determination of Adverse Effect of Water Stress on Corn (Zea maize L.) according to the Stages of Growth
A field experiment was carried out for the purpose of studying the effect of water stress, according to stages of growth of maize where the experiment was carried out at the Agra Technology Research Station, University Malaysia Perlis Padang Besar, Perlis, Malaysia in March 2014 to June 2014 to investigate the influence of studying the effect of irrigation dates on maize crop for the purpose of studying the effect of irrigation dates on maize crop. The results of the research showed the effect of water stress at all stages of plant growth. The results showed that the most sensitive phase of water stress is the flowering phase; also the results showed that water stress had a negative impact on all parameters of the experiment. The highest rate of all study parameters was recorded at the first date (irrigated every seven days) and a significant difference from the second date. While the lowest rate of all qualities was recorded in the second appointment (irrigated every 14 days), no significant difference was recorded between the first date (irrigated every 7 days) when compared with the control treatments where the crop was irrigated whenever the plant needed water. The results showed that irrigating every 7 days of the autumn season is most appropriate and no significant difference was recorded when comparing the control treatment. The results elucidate that irrigated every 14 days gave the lowest rate of all traits but it is used in case of severe water scarcity.
Potential Commercial Production of Forages in Adamawa State, Nigeria
A study was conducted to assess the potential commercial production of forages in Adamawa State, Nigeria. The data of this research were drawn from a field survey conducted in the 21 local government areas of the state. Well-structured and detailed questionnaires were randomly administered to respondents of various sexes, religious, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds. The questions contained in the questionnaire focused on five broad issues or parameters, namely, socioeconomic status of respondents, forage use and source, forage harvesting, preservation and transport, marketing, potentials and constrains to commercial forage production in all of the local government areas. 250 questionnaires were randomly served to respondents. Out of these, there were 203 (81%) retrievals. Results revealed that 62% of the respondents were males with 38% females. Elderly people of 26 years and above were 52%. Those married were 52% out of whom 48% were farmers. All the respondents (100%) had gone through formal education. It was also revealed that 82% obtained the forages from uncultivated sources with only 7% cultivated. The remaining 11% got theirs from in-between crops. Most of the respondents (77%) cut and sell forages in the dry season, of which 76% obtained them from river banks. About 83% sold them to ruminant feeders with only 17% to equine feeders. While 51% cut the forages for sale, 49% used them at home or were used by employers. Means of transporting the forages to end users were mechanical (65%) and 35% manual. Most of the forages cut were mixture of grasses and legumes (38%), sole legumes (28%), sole grasses (24%) with 10% browse plants. They were sold in forms of hay (47%), fresh (42%) and silage (11%). Main customers were ruminant fatteners (88%), with 12% Emirate councils. Most of the customers (42%) preferred mixtures of grasses and legumes while 31% preferred legumes only. Majority of the respondents (55%) cut and sold the forages as their main occupation while (45%) as part time to get additional income. While 85% got ready market for their products, 15% did not. With these findings, it could be concluded that there is high potential for commercial production of forages due to rising interest in ruminant fattening. It is, therefore, recommended that a campaign should be done to create awareness on the importance of artificial production of these forages in raising meat production and income levels.
Reducing Air Pollution - Towards making Indore a Smart, Clean, and Healthy City
Introduction: The Government of India initiated the Smart City Mission in 2015 with the aim of comprehensive urban development for 100 cities. Swachh Bharat Mission was also launched nationwide in 2014 with the goal of advancing universal sanitation coverage. Indore was selected as a Smart City; it was also declared the cleanest city in India in 2017 and in 2018 under Swachh Bharat. Indore is also participating in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - funded Building Healthy Cities Project, with the objective of improving the health of the city environment. As part of that objective, a closer examination of air pollution levels was conducted.Methodology: Annual average concentrations for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) from three air pollution measuring stations located in Indore’s Polo Ground (industrial), Kothari Market (commercial), and Kanodia Road, Vijay Nagar (residential) were analysed for trends during the last five years (2013-2017). For 2017, month-wise data were analysed for seasonal variations.Results: The annual average concentration of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides did not change during the preceding five years. A declining trend was observed at all sites in concentration of PM10 from a range of 118-187 μg/m3 in 2013 to 77-81 μg/m3 in 2017. The PM2.5 concentration was measured only since 2016; 2017 levels were less when compared to the preceding year. Lower values were observed during the rainy season (July to September) for all pollutants. It was observed that, during the period, declining trend for PM10, various interventions were initiated in Indore, including night mechanical sweeping of city roads, free left loop roads to reduce traffic congestion, and an efficient systematic collection and disposal of solid waste.Conclusion: Declining trends of air pollution in particulate matter in Indore is evident, possibly due to various measures taken by the Municipal Corporation and Indore Smart City Mission. Further analysis is needed to understand how these trends can be sustained and how they may impact the respiratory health of Indore citizens
Assessment of the Pollution Vulnerability of Alluvial Aquifers Using the DRASTIC Method in El Hajeb Province (Morocco)
In recent years, the groundwater quality has deteriorated in many parts of Morocco as a result of agricultural expansion, solid waste disposal, and industrialization. The El Hajeb water table is also threatened by the development of agricultural and industrial activities. In order to protect this water table, we carried out a study on the mapping of vulnerability to pollution. The development of this map was carried out by application of the DRASTIC method by exploiting the functionalities offered by GIS. The analysis of this map highlights three major classes of vulnerability (low, medium and high). The medium class is the most dominant, because it covers almost the entire of El Hajeb province with a percentage of 85.3%. Therefore, a regular analytical monitoring of this water table is necessary in order to detect any kind of pollution of the water in question. The map thus elaborated can be used as a decision support tool for land-use planning, because it allows preserving the groundwater in El Hajeb province.
P-Reducible Finsler Spaces of Scalar Curvature & Applictions
In this paper we have considered special form of v(hv) -Torsion tensor ) ( j kiijkkijijkijk c hchchcP +++= µλ , where & λµ are scalar function, positively homogeneous of degree one in i y and call such a Finsler space is * P- Reducible Finsler space. We have obtained the role of scalar curvature in * P - Reducible Finsler spaces and got a very important result “if 22 /0 o RL λλ + + ≠ and 2 0 2 ( 1) 0, n λ µ µ µ + + + = 2 0 2 ( 1) 0, n λ µ µ µ + + + = a * P - Reducible Finsler space is a Riemannian space of constant curvature” Subject Classification -53C6
Periodic Solutions with Invariant Amplitude for the Derivative Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation
In this paper, a series of periodic solutions with invariant amplitude for the derivative nonlinear schrödinger equation are obtained by using trial function method. Two solutions’ images are displayed, which can help one understand their dynamical behavior better. These results enrich the solutions’ structural diversity for the derivative nonlinear schrödinger equation
Divorce by Mutual Consent
Our country is developing day by day and so our beliefs, way and standard of living, thoughts and concepts of all the things and so are our views about relationship and freedom. This research would be specifically dealing with the marriage and freedom from that marriage, i.e., divorce by mutual consent. Divorce, however, is a thorny question. Hindu law, strictly so called, did not allow divorce except in certain communities, in the lower social strata, where it was permitted by custom; and there was deep-rooted sentiment against any provision for divorce in the new legislation which was being. Also, as it has been written in our customs and followed by Hindu’s as their belief that marriage is a sacred vow to be taken and never to be released from that vow until the death of one the spouse. However, different conditions had arisen and fair and equable solutions had to be found in case of matters affecting formation as well as dissolution of marriage. While marriage for life is the most natural form of marriage and best adapted to a civilized society, there can be little justification for legally insisting upon the union as indissoluble, even under circumstances of exceptional hardship or cases of exceptional depravity on the part of one of the spouses. But then, considerable evidence was adduced before the Hindu Law Committee that there were thousands of cases of desertion of women by their husbands and many cases were brought to its notice in which remarriage had been desired and was possible but could not be effected by reason of the existing law against divorce. There are various reasons for a wedded couple in front of the eyes of the law to demand relief from the marriage by filing divorce petition. The reasons may be as small as lack of compatibility or understanding and as large as bigamy, desertion or cruelty. Grounds other than desertion also required serious consideration and the committee made a strong report in favor of the proposed legislation providing for relief by way of divorce in appropriate cases. The recommendations in the report of the Rau Committee on the questions of marriage and divorce were substantially accepted by the Parliament. The major fact about taking divorce through mutual consent is that there is no disagreement between the spouse for the separation and many more pros and cons will be dealt later in this project
Judicial Supremacy
Judicial supremacy amounts to grabbing power by one branch of government to positively create law. The independence of the judiciary is often assured through the constitution however it’s going to even be assured through legislation, conventions, and different appropriate norms and practices. The judiciary in India enjoys more power than ever before and is the most powerful judiciary of the world. The Indian constitution only Regulates the state should differentiate those legal starting with those official in the general population benefits of the state. of the pressures that emerged every once in a while between the legal and the official and the assembly, the glory of the legal has expanded extensively. At the same time, there are some more desires from the legal. Judicial supremacy is a concept frequently employed in both domestic and comparative constitutional theory but rarely carefully defined and systematically analyzed. it also aims to evaluate its usefulness as a concept in the toolbox of comparative constitutional theory. Judiciary interferes in every facet of the social and political life through the means of judicial activism. Woman in Modern India
The first historical account of Indian woman dates from the nineteenth century and is a product of the colonial experience. These accounts tell of an ancient time when woman were held in high esteem followed by a long period when their status declined. Then Europeans came into the scene. The foreign rulers, according to these narratives, introduced new ideas about woman’s roles and capabilities and these ideas were adopted by enlightened Indians. It was slow but progressive march towards “modernity” following a long period of stagnation and decline .Both British missionaries and those Indian reformers who welcomed the opportunity to put forth a critique of their own society hypothesized a “golden age” followed by centuries of corruption and betrayal
Difficulties of Learning English Language at the Secondary Level: A Case Study of Thakurgaon District
The aim of this paper is to examine the complexities of learning the English language among the SSC level learners at Lahiri High School under Thakurgaon district, a northern part of Bangladesh. Many students don’t receive standard education of English due to knowledgeable teachers, financial constraints, lack of multimedia project teaching and learning system, and English language club. It aims to look at motivating the young learners so that they can be able to develop the basic knowledge of four skills despite depriving of ultra-modern facilities. For this purpose, the researcher collected date through questionnaire and interview process. 15 sets of questions were provided among 15 students to find out their fundamental knowledge of English language. In the field survey, 31 participants were selected for interview, including 15 male & female students, 6 teachers, and 10 guardians. Teachers and parents expressed their different views about English language learning complexities. Participants responded that students were weak in English grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skill. After realizing their English learning complexities, the researcher came to conclusion and recommendations. Thus this study would like to show a new dimension of English language learning for the secondary level learners at Thakurgaon district in Bangladesh
