The Subject of Desire and the Hermeneutics of Thoughts: Foucault’s Reading of Augustine and Cassian in Confessions of the Flesh
Get PDFAlthough Foucault presented History of Sexuality Vol. 4: Confessions of the Flesh as a crucial part in the study of the genealogy of the subject of desire, Foucault’s analyses of early Christian doctrine and pastoral technologies do not support the claim that an analytic of the subject of desire was established in early Christianity. This can be shown through a reconstruction of his readings of Augustine and Cassian. Augustine’s doctrinal views of the human condition and the association of libido and disobedience to law are not accompanied by the production of technologies for the hermeneutics of desire. Cassian’s pastoral technologies of obedience and subjection to the will of the spiritual director are organized around the hermeneutics of thoughts, and they aim at establishing an inner detachment from misleading thoughts through examination of conscience. This reconstruction opens new trajectories for a genealogy of the subject of desire and for a genealogy of pastoral power and governmentality

Get PDFThe shared practices of corporate social responsibility with local stakeholders is one of the few relevant experiences that are undertaken to contribute to sustainable development in a mining context of high social complexity. This study characterises the relationships with local stakeholders that allow them to carry out shared practices of Corporate Social Responsibility in the district of Pataz, La Libertad Region, in the north of Peru, through two case studies and data collection that included 23 local stakeholders working with the Mining Company. This applied research included interviews and participatory observation. The findings indicated that 80% of local entrepreneurs have shown their interest in carrying out shared practices of corporate social responsibility in education, environment, health, water and sanitation, respectively. The study describes the contribution of artisanal mining enterprises and local supplier enterprises in shared practices of social responsibility, within the locations where they carry out their business activities. This research enriches knowledge of experiences that promote a shared culture of corporate social responsibility and how attending to the social demands from the perspective of the local community and business risks from the perspective of the mining company. These two sometimes conflicting perspectives coexist and complement one another for corporate sustainability after overcoming certain local and corporate paradigms which facilitates contributing to the sustainable development of the surrounding communities

Det var en enestående samfundstænkning, der her blev udfoldet. Denne tænkning bidrog markant til udviklingen af det samfund, som Danmark er blevet – og er blevet berømt for. Men vi må erkende, at dette velfærdssamfund også er blevet et samfund, der på mange måder er et ikke-bæredygtigt samfund. Bæredygtighed har ikke været en eksplicit bestræbelse i det vækst-, produktions- og produktivitetsparadigme, der har karakteriseret årene efter Anden verdenskrig. Nu er den store udfordring at formulere en drejebog for udviklingen af et bæredygtigt velfærdssamfund. Hvordan ser et bæredygtigt velfærdssamfund, en bæredygtig kommune – og en bæredygtig verden ud? Hvordan ser fremtidens bæredygtige Danmark ud? Vi ved det ikke, men verdensmålene kan hjælpe os med at finde svarene på disse spørgsmål. Verdensmålene er en terminologi og en ramme for beskrivelsen og realiseringen af et nyt bæredygtigt samfund
