Plurality of Creatures and the Oneness of the Creator

    No full text
This study discusses the relationship between the plurality of beings and the oneness of the Creator from philosophical and theological perspectives. The plurality of beings reflects the diversity of God's creation, which includes humans, animals, plants, and inanimate objects, as manifestations of the greatness and complexity of the Creator. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and content analysis to understand the interaction between the diversity of creation and the oneness of God. Data were collected through literature studies, interviews with religious figures, and observations in religious communities. The analysis was conducted hermeneutically to interpret religious and philosophical texts, as well as through thematic analysis to identify patterns of thought. The results show that the plurality of beings not only affirms the oneness of God but also encourages tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and social harmony in pluralistic societies. By understanding this relationship, society can create strong social cohesion and reduce the potential for identity-based conflicts

Teachers' and Adolescents' Perceptions of Mental Health and Character Education as Preventative Measures Against Youth Violence

    No full text
Introduction: Mental health significantly influences both adolescent emotional well-being and the likelihood of violence, as adolescents with strong mental health are better equipped to manage interpersonal conflicts and resist pressures that may otherwise lead to violence. This study explores how perceptions of mental health among teachers and adolescents contribute to emotional resilience and provide a foundation for anti-violence character development. Methods: Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving ten informants—six students and four teachers—selected via purposive sampling to capture varied insights. Results: Results reveal that perceptions of mental health among both adolescents and teachers are diverse but commonly highlight the value of emotional and psychological stability. Furthermore, the role of family and early life experiences is consistently emphasized as essential in shaping mental health, affecting how adolescents manage emotions and conflicts. Findings also suggest that character traits developed from childhood and through formative experiences are instrumental in supporting an individual’s mental health and ability to respond to social stressors without resorting to violence. Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the connection between teachers' and students' perceptions of mental health and character as a key strategy for preventing violence. The findings underscore the crucial role of collaboration among schools, families, and communities in creating a supportive environment for students' character development and mental well-being. The study’s implications highlight the necessity of comprehensive, school-based initiatives and educational policies that integrate mental health and character education. Educators are encouraged to adopt character-focused approaches, policymakers to formulate inclusive policies, and researchers to explore this issue across various socio-cultural settings to strengthen violence prevention efforts

Democracy, Elections, And Populism in Indonesia from The Perspective of Friedrich Nietzsche's Existentialism

    No full text
Article history: This research aims to analyze how populism weakens democratic practices in Indonesia and formulate solutions to keep democracy healthy. With Friedrich Nietzsche's existentialism perspective, this research highlights the importance of individual freedom and responsibility in choosing qualified leaders. The research uses a legal method with a legislative and philosophical approach. The results show that Indonesian democracy, which is synonymous with the division of power between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, is often distorted by the influence of populism. Elections held every five years to elect people's representatives and executive leaders at various levels are often used by political elites for their interests by exploiting people's emotions through rhetoric and identity politics. This condition is rooted in the criteria for nominating leaders in Law No. 7/2017, which opens space for the emergence of populism and obscures the purpose of democracy “of the people, by the people, and for the people”. To overcome this, the research recommends revising the regulation by adding competency criteria based on the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) merit system for prospective executive leaders. This strategy is a practical implementation of existentialism in legal politics to maintain the quality of democracy while strengthening political education for the community

Introduction: This study evaluated the effectiveness of community-based quit-smoking interventions using the 5A’s and 3A’s modules. Methods: The study was conducted between 2020 and 2021 in Samarahan and Asajaya District, Sarawak, Malaysia. The study included 519 participants out of 600 individuals, and both facilitators and observers evaluated the process. The process evaluation assessed various components: fidelity, dose delivered, dose received, reach, satisfaction, context, justification for intervention withdrawal, facilitator influence on sessions, and intervention feedback. Results: The study found that most facilitators executed more than 85% of both session modules, achieving at least 75% of the objectives. Most participants of both sessions were positively and actively engaged and would recommend intervention to others. The participants reported positive feedback. However, 26.3% of participants withdrew from the second session due to inconvenient timing. The observer’s fidelity evaluations of both intervention sessions were fully implemented according to plans, achieving over 75% of their objectives. Observers acknowledged active and engaged participants during both intervention sessions and regarded all facilitators as appropriate and positive toward participants. The process evaluation showed that the interventions were administered well, and smoking adolescents demonstrated a willingness to quit smoking due to the outcomes of this intervention. Conclusion: The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of community-based interventions for quitting smoking and highlight the importance of evaluating the process of interventions to understand their relationship with outcomes. The study’s results can inform the development and implementation of future interventions to reduce smoking incidence among adolescents

Introduction: The Hajj pilgrimage is a pillar of Islam that must be carried out by every able-bodied Muslim. However, millions of pilgrims who gather each year face complex health challenges, including advanced age, comorbidities, and extreme environmental conditions. This study aims to identify the health risks of hajj pilgrims and the challenges in efforts to improve pilgrim health. Methods: The research method used is a narrative review, collecting related literature from various sources. The results of the study indicate that hajj pilgrim mortality is still high, mainly caused by cardiovascular disease, respiratory disorders, and heat stroke. Results: The mortality rate among Hajj pilgrims ranges from 1-3 per 1,000 per season, with 461 deaths recorded in 2024. Cardiovascular diseases (70%), respiratory infections, and heat stroke are the leading causes. Risk factors include advanced age, diabetes, hypertension, and extreme temperatures. Pilgrims' low compliance with vaccinations, especially meningitis and influenza, increases the risk of disease outbreaks. The crowded environment facilitates respiratory disease transmission, while limited access to healthcare and language barriers further complicate medical response. Health outreach, vaccination programs, international collaboration, and telemedicine are strategic measures that can help reduce mortality rates among Hajj pilgrims by improving health awareness, managing chronic conditions, and ensuring timely medical care. Conclusion: In conclusion, more comprehensive health interventions and are needed to reduce morbidity and mortality among hajj pilgrims
