    EUX et NOUS La place des Autochtones dans l'enseignement de l'histoire nationale du Quebec Volume 1

    La presente etude se presente en trois volumes. Elle analyse la place allouee a l histoire autochtone dans l enseignement scolaire et l image qu il transmet des Autochtones et de leur role dans l histoire canadienne et quebecoise. La constitution implicite ou explicite d un NOUS collectif par rapport a l AUTRE sera au centre de notre interet. Ce premier volume analyse les contenus et des discours des manuels d histoire, a commencer par les manuels approuves par le Ministre de l'Education, du Loisir et du Sport du Quebec du programme Histoire et education a la citoyennete au second cycle de l enseignement secondaire et les manuels actuels du primaire. Ensuite, pour saisir l evolution entre les annees 1970 et nos jours, nous procederons a l analyse des manuels les plus repandus des annees 1980 et 1990 du programme Histoire du Quebec et du Canada . Dans le second volume (urn:nbn:de:gbv:46-00106630-18 / http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:gbv:46-00106630-18), nous nous interesserons dans le detail a la perception de l histoire autochtone dans la conscience des jeunes, aussi bien francophones, anglophones et autochtones en analysant un millier de copies d eleves a travers le Quebec. Il s agira ainsi de mieux comprendre quels roles ils leur attribuent dans la trame de l histoire nationale, quelles hypotheses ils font pour combler des lacunes apparentes et comment ils construisent leur NOUS respectif, par rapport aux AUTRES. Suite aux retards dans la publication des manuels definitifs du nouveau programme Histoire du Quebec et du Canada des annees 2016-17-18, leur analyse sera reservee a un troisieme volume (urn:nbn:de:gbv:46-00106632-10 / http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:gbv:46-00106632-10). Pour conclure l ensemble, le discours majoritaire dans l enseignement de l histoire nationale y sera confronte a celui de manuels d histoire autochtones concus specialement pour eux

    Molecular mechanisms of crystal nucleation and growth at ferritin/oxide Interfaces : a theoretical investigation

    The biomimetic production of micro- and nanostructures from magnetic materials is a suitable way to replace conventional methods with an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution. Biomineralization is nature's way of synthesizing inorganic materials through living organisms. One of the best-known representatives is the protein ferritin, which is found in many organisms and serves as an iron store. Ferritin consists of a total of 24 subunits, which are arranged in the form of a hollow sphere in which iron is biomineralized in the form of iron oxide hydroxide. These subunits were used in this theoretical work and supporting experiments to allow magnetic layers of iron oxide hydroxide to grow without spatial limitations. In this work the different substrate/protein/mineral interfaces, the crystal growth process as well as structure and composition of the resulting mineral phase are analyzed by classical Molecular Dynamic (MD) simulations and quantum mechanical (QM) modelling

    On the Flow of Modified Warm Deep Water toward the Filchner Ronne Ice Shelf, Weddell Sea, Antarctica

    Enhanced basal melt rates have been observed at many ice shelves around Antarctica in the last decade, which has mostly been attributed to an increased transport of warm mid-depth water onto the continental shelf and ultimately into the ice shelf cavities. This thesis investigates the seasonal flow of warm water toward the Filchner Ronne Ice Shelf (FRIS), which is by volume the largest ice shelf in Antarctica. While today the large continental shelf in front of FRIS is covered with cold and dense water, model studies have suggested the potential for an increased flow of Modified Warm Deep Water (MWDW) toward and into the FRIS cavity, via the Filchner Trough. Moored time series, ship-based CTD data and numerical modelling are used to study the seasonal hydrography and controlling processes on the southern Weddell Sea continental shelf

    Theme Centered Interaction in Critical Vocational Teacher Education - An Introduction Into an Ethical Founded Method and Model to Strengthen Self-reflexive Autonomy and Socially Responsible Action

    Context: The train of thoughts in this contribution is situated in the VET teacher training on an academic level, as it is usual in Germany. Key issue is the pedagogical qualification of the VET teachers and the question of how to give them possibilities to reflect their own biography, their interdependences to the actual cultural and economic environment and their way to choose the pathway to become a VET teacher. How to enable them to argue with their values, fears, strength and weaknesses in their life and especially in leading groups, as they will have to do in classroom management. And at least how to give them an idea of an emancipative, critical and participative way of forming learning situations in which they feel sure and lively to encourage the apprentices and learners in schools to act autonomic and critical in work and besides. This is necessary because of the changes in work and VET in the recent centuries with consequences for workers, learners and curricula as well as the contradictions in that process. Approach: The transformation and the liberalisation of markets and changes of work organisation, the enlargement of tasks in the occupations adds greater meaning to social knowledge and competences, the ability for teamwork and personal development in vocational education. To develop this ability Theme-Centered Interaction (TCI), as a humanistic-psychological approach is used and combined with Critical-Subject-Oriented Vocational Education Theory, inspired by the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School. VET-teacher students learn in theory and practice to shape their own way to lead themselves and the pupils in the class and to reflect their activities in a critical way of thinking. The paper ends with brief description of seminar lectures with VET teacher students at the University of Rostock where TCI is practiced as one example how we can reach the objectives described before. Findings: The TCI-concept is helpful to set up better teamwork and self-reflection in the group of the learners. It s a useful way to prepare them for their practical school phase in which TCI is used as reflection model as well. Key message: Universities as learning places in the tradition of enlightenment have to open up spaces in VET teacher development for domination-free communication and participatory learning within the framework of university studies, which can create a distance to a given social reality, enables students to dissociate from collectively developed goals to become critical formers of their working life and teaching

    Motion Tracking for Medical Applications using Hierarchical Filter Models

    A medical intervention often requires relating treatment to the situation, which it was planned on. In order to circumvent undesirable effects of motion during the intervention, positional differences must be detected in real-time. To this end, in this thesis a hierarchical Particle Filter based tracking algorithm is developed in three stages. Initially, a model description of the individual nodes in the aspired hierarchical tree is presented. Using different approaches, properties of such a node are derived and approximated, leading to a parametrization scheme. Secondly, transformations and appearance of the data are described by a fixed hierarchical tree. A sparse description for typical landmarks in medical image data is presented. A static tree model with two levels is developed and investigated. Finally, the notion of 'association' between landmarks and nodes is introduced in order to allow for dynamic adaptation to the underlying structure of the data. Processes for tree maintenance using clustering and sequential reinforcement are implemented. The function of the full algorithm is demonstrated on data of abdominal breathing motion

    Written on 4Chan message boards by a user named Jadusable (Alex Hall) in 2010 and later archived by creepypasta enthusiasts, Ben Drowned relates the saga of a college sophomore s encounter with a bootleg copy of The Legend of Zelda: Majora s Mask (2000) supposedly possessed by the spirit of its former owner. Over the course of two weeks, Jadusable records his experiences in writing and short videos as the entity within the cartridge torments him, eventually taking control of his technology and escaping into the Internet. After a brief overview of theories of the uncanny and haunted media, this paper will conduct a narratological analysis of the Ben Drowned saga in order to explore the aesthetic and social potential of haunted cartridge narratives, especially how they can reveal the inherent uncanniness of games as a medium. Haunted cartridge narratives like Ben Drowned help to elucidate unsettling ambiguities between data and spirit, save files and human identity. Through stories like these, the information-carrying cartridge is revealed to mirror the body/soul duality so familiar to humanity, housing data, which may be possessed, altered, and corrupted by entities unknown. The errors and glitches commonplace in contemporary gaming technologies are recast within the work as being of uncertain and perhaps malicious origins, distorting once familiar digital spaces with the disquieting efficiency of an unseen hand. As such, this under-analyzed piece of digital fiction resonates with cultural fears regarding the primacy of incorporeal information within contemporary network society and casts the medium of the video game as a space ripe for encounters with uncanny entities

    Benefits and risks of using native parasitoids for augmentative biological control of the invasive pest Halyomorpha halys in Europe

    The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, is an Asian agricultural pest that has invaded both the American continent and Europe. In its native range, H. halys populations are well regulated by natural enemies, with Trissolcus japonicus being the most abundant species. In Europe, the egg parasitoid Anastatus bifasciatus is the most common species parasitizing H. halys eggs. In this PhD thesis I evaluated its potential for augmentative biological control against H. halys in Europe. Investigations on the life history of A. bifasciatus are described in chapter 2. In chapter 3, the host range of A. bifasciatus was examined. Interspecific interactions with another potential European biological control agent of H. halys, Ooencyrtus telenomicida, were evaluated in chapter 4. Experimental releases of A. bifasciatus were conducted over three years in Swiss and Italian fruit orchards, described in chapter 5. The development and testing of a PCR-based screening tool for Anastatus species is addressed in chapter 6. In 2017 and 2018, the first adventive populations of T. japonicus in Europe could be recorded in chapter 7

    Patterns of Service Innovation : An Empirical Study of Automotive Engineering Services in Germany

    Over the past few decades, scholars have discovered that service innovation transcends the confines of individual organizations and involves interactions and collaborative activities among a network of actors. However, most of the current innovation studies are based on a conceptual view of firm-centric and linear processes of research and development (R&D) that works well in production-oriented economies but may not be as appropriate when it comes to explaining innovation in service-oriented and networked economies, as they become more prevalent in the digital age. As a result, our current understanding of service innovation processes in multi-actor constellations is limited and requires further attention. This thesis contributes a qualitative study, from the automotive engineering service (AES) industry, to the growing body of scholarly work that studies how service innovation emerges from interactions and collaborative activities that take place among a network of actors. In doing so, this thesis employs a qualitative research design that is informed by four different sources of empirical data: preliminary and in-depth interviews, as well as archival data and field observations. The theoretical viewpoint taken in this thesis is informed by the service-dominant (S-D) logic, which entails a broader and systemic view of service innovation. This view emphasizes the centrality of interactions and considers innovation as a process of reconfiguring the institutionalized rules of resource integration in service ecosystems. Based on this perspective, the key finding is an empirically developed process typology that distinguishes five patterns of service innovation in the AES industry. Pre-existing patterns and concepts within the literature are extended and connected through more detailed descriptions of interactions, roles, and activities. Such an in-depth understanding of different service innovation pathways complements and substantiates recent theoretical debates on the connection between service innovation, institutions, and interactions in service ecosystems. Practitioners from the AES industry benefit from this new knowledge because it helps them to understand how their organization needs to interact and operate with other actors from their network to trigger and pursue specific innovation pathways

    Untersuchung des Einflusses von metallischen Additiven auf die Leistungsfähigkeit eines Hybridantriebes mit Paraffin und flüssigem Sauerstoff

    Untersuchung der Eignung von verschiedenen Metallen zur Nutzung als Additiv in Hybridraketen mit Paraffin und flüssigem Sauerstoff als Treibstoff (ZEpHyR 2) hinsichtlich Leistung, Umsetzbarkeit und Konsequenzen für das Antriebssystem. Im Besonderen wird auf Aluminium als vielseitiges, leistungsfähiges und günstiges Additiv eingegangen. Hierzu wurden Performancetests renommierter Forscher ausgewertet. Problematisch ist jedoch die Einbringung des Additives in den Treibsatz. Aufgrund hoher Dichteunterschiede zwischen Additiv und Treibstoff findet eine schnelle Sedimentation statt, wie in einigen Versuchen gezeigt. Diese Sedimentation führt dazu, dass die Verwendung von Aluminium für das ZEpHyR Triebwerk nicht umsetzbar ist
