    ACROSTERNUM HEEGERI (HETEROPTERA: PENTATOMIDAE) IN SERBIA

    The species Acrosternum heegeri Fieber, 1861 is a well-known member of the Mediterranean fauna in Europe and until recently was not recorded outside its natural range. In recent years, the presence of stable populations of the species in Budapest has been confirmed, and the first findings on the territory of Serbia are from 2013, when several overwintering adults were found under the bark of deciduous trees in Novi Sad. Since 2017, active individuals have been recorded throughout the season, for now mainly from the area of ​​Vojvodina. This bug is probably conquering new territories by transporting people and goods, but we assume that climate change is also responsible for establishing stable populations in new environments. The paper presents the findings of the species A. heegeri in Serbia, which were taken from the Alciphron database on insects in Serbia. A. heegeri is a polyphagous herbivore and has the status of an economically significant species in the Middle East because it causes damage in pistachio plantations

    THE FIRST RECORD OF PURPURICENUS DESFONTAINII (FABRICIUS, 1793) (COLEOPTERA: CERAMBYCIDAE) FROM NORTHWESTERN ALGERIA AND ITS SEXUAL DIMORPHISM

    Although the cerambycid fauna of Algeria has received a great deal of attention so far, additional collecting has produced one species that was not previously recorded in northwestern Algeria. Purpuricenus desfontainii (Fabricius, 1793) is recorded for the first time in northwestern Algeria from the Msila Forest. In May 2019, 50 males and 50 females of P. desfontainii were collected by hand on the flowers and stems of milk thistle. External morphological measurements were made to find possible sexual dimorphism in P. desfontainii. Results indicated that there are significant differences between males and females in the lengths of antennae and of flagellomeres. Moreover, males and females significantly differ in total body length and width, head width, ratio of antennal length to total body length, and elytral length and width

    DISTRIBUTION DATA FOR THE GENUS CLEPTES LATREILLE, 1802 (HYMENOPTERA: CHRYSIDIDAE, CLEPTINAE) OF TURKEY WITH A CHECKLIST OF THE GENUS

    The present study is based on samples collected in various locations in Turkey since the 1990s. Together with literature sources, a total of 25 species of the genus Cleptes Latreille, 1802 (Cleptinae) are listed for the country, and C. syriacus Buysson, 1887 is newly recorded for Turkish fauna. A detailed revision of literature data provided new insight into the species composition of this genus in Turkey. Most of the Cleptes species are very rarely collected and are known from one-two provinces: 10 species are known only from one province and five species only from two provinces. Four species are sparsely recorded from different parts of Turkey, whereas only three species, namely C. ignitus, C. scutellaris and    C. splendidus, are widely recorded. Currently, seven species are considered endemic, and five are listed as doubtful for the country. A detailed checklist of the genus Cleptes and a distribution map are provided

    NINE SPECIES OF APHIDS (HEMIPTERA: APHIDIDAE) NEW TO THE FAUNA OF SERBIA

    Nine aphid species (Hemiptera: Aphididae), mainly found in the southeastern part of the country, were determined as new records for Serbia. They belong to three subfamilies: Aphis passeriniana (Del Guercio, 1900); A. podagrariae Schrank, 1801; A. salviae Walker, 1852; Brachyunguis tamaricis (Lichtenstein, 1885); Smiela fusca Mordvilko, 1948; Staticobium limonii Contarini, 1847 and Uroleucon pseudobscurum (Hille Ris Lambers, 1967) from the subfamily Aphidinae; Drepanosiphum oregonensis Granovsky, 1939 from the subfamily Drepanosiphinae and Pterocomma jacksoni Theobald, 1921 from the subfamily Pterocommatinae. With the inclusion of these nine records, a total of 383 aphids have been found so far in Serbia. This represents about 70% of the species of the total aphid fauna expected to be found on plants in Serbia. All species are of Palearctic distribution and seem to be monoecious

    THE ABUNDANCE AND DIVERSITY OF GRASSHOPPER (ORTHOPTERA: CAELIFERA) ALONG AN ALTITUDINAL GRADIENT IN JIJEL DISTRICT, ALGERIA

    Grasshoppers (Orthoptera: Caelifera) diversity were studied in three sites at different altitude in Jijel district (North East Algeria). The insects were captured with sweep net weekly from April to August 2016. It appears that 30 Grasshopper species belonging to 4 families and 11 subfamilies were identified amongst 712 individuals. Acrididae species (25) were the most frequent. The species richness was higher at medium altitude (23 species) and high altitude (22 species) than at low altitude (18 species). Species abundance distribution fitted the Broken stick model at low and high altitude while it fitted the Geometric or Motumura model at medium altitude. Grasshopper abundance increased with the altitude while diversity was not correlated with increasing altitude since diversity indices values were high in medium altitude

    OPHRAELLA COMMUNA (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE) HAS ARRIVED IN SERBIA

    Ophraella communa LeSage, 1986 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae, Galerucinae) is a North American chrysomelid successfully spreading through Europe in recent years. It is a natural enemy and a potential biocontrol agent of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., an important invasive weed, both for agricultural crops and public health (Vrbničanin, et al., 2008). In Europe, O. communa was first detected in Italy (Boriani et al., 2013), after which it has spread to Switzerland (Müller-Schärer et al., 2014), Slovenia (Seljak, 2017) and Croatia (Zadravec et al., 2019). Here we report the first record of O. commmuna from Serbia. Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. (Asteraceae) plants were surveyed during 2020 in 7 localities in Serbia (Fruška gora - Ležimir, Šid, Sremska Mitrovica, Bela Crkva, Belgrade, Donji Milanovac, Valjevo, Stara planina).     FIRST RECORD OF DIMORPHOCORIS BEIERI WAGNER 1965 (HETEROPTERA: MIRIDAE) IN SERBIA

    A new species for the fauna of Serbia - Dimorphocoris beieri Wagner, 1965, was caught on the Veliki Strešer, the highest peak of the Mount Vardenik. The species is endemic to the Balkan Peninsula, and in addition to Serbia, it has also been recorded in Montenegro on the Mount Durmitor (Wagner 1965, 1973; Protić et al. 1990). In addition to this, another species of the same genus was recorded in Serbia - D. saulii Wagner, on the Mount Stolovi (Protić, 2016)

    MERODON NATANS AND M. PULVERIS (DIPTERA: SYRPHIDAE): DELIMITATING CRYPTIC HOVERFLY SPECIES USING THE GEOMETRIC MORPHOMETRIC METHOD

    A landmark-based geometric morphometric method was employed to delimitate two morphologically closely-related species of the hoverfly Merodon natans species group based on wing parameters. The studied species, Merodon natans and M. pulveris, were successfully determined using this method. Analyses revealed a significant difference in wing size and shape between individuals of the two species, thereby proving that these are two distinct species, even though, morphologically very similar. Discriminant and cluster analyses also uncovered a subtle difference in wing shape between M. pulveris populations, indicating intraspecific differentiation with potential conservation implications. The results of the morphological study were supplemented with known distribution data of the investigated species

    A PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE SUMMER ASPECT OF WEEVIL (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONOIDEA) FAUNA OF THE OVČAR-KABLAR GORGE (WESTERN SERBIA)

    The first preliminary overview of the weevil (Colеoptera: Curculionoidea) fauna registered in the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge (western Serbia) is given. The field research was conducted in June and July 2016 at seven localities. Among a total of 62 identified species and 7 subspecies, 14 are recorded for the first time for the Republic of Serbia, including one Balkan endemic species (Cleopomiarus medius). One of the registered species (Sciaphobus caesius) is protected by the national regulations of the Republic of Serbia
