TWO NEW HYMENOPTERAN FINDINGS IN SERBIA: DIPRION SIMILIS (DIPRIONIDAE) AS HOST AND ITS PARASITOID, MONODONTOMERUS DENTIPES (TORYMIDAE)
Two hymenopteran species are reported for the Serbian fauna. Diprion similis, from the family Diprionidae, served as a host for the parasitoid wasp Monodontomerus dentipes, from the family Torymidae. The specimens were collected from Mt. Zlatibor in western Serbia. The parasitoid specimens were reared from the pupal stadium of the host D. similis.
 
CONTRIBUTION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF PHYLLONORYCTER ISSIKII (KUMATA, 1963) (LEPIDOPTERA, GRACILLARIIDAE) IN SERBIA
Phyllonorycter issikii (Kumata, 1963) is an invasive leaf-mining moth originating from Asia. It develops on plants from the genus Tilia. The first finding of this species in Serbia was in 2013, and since then, the range of the species has spread, and we have found it at five more localities on T. cordata and T. tomentosa. Ph. issikii was studied at two of these localities. The existence of two overlapping generations was determined. No significant differences in the intensity of the attack between them were noticed. Differences existed only between the localities where the research was conducted and between the Tilia species on which Ph. issikii was found. As regards the lime species, the moth preferred T. cordata to T. tomentosa at both localities. Two species of parasitoids were reared from the collected material: Pediobius saulius (Walker, 1839) and Minotetrastichus frontalis (Nees, 1834)
HOVERFLY FAUNA (DIPTERA: SYRPHIDAE) OF THE LANDSCAPE OF OUTSTANDING FEATURES “VLASINA”
In the many years of research organized between 1977 and 2017, a total of 76 hoverfly species were collected in the protected Landscape of Outstanding Features “Vlasina” (southeastern Serbia) on six localities. Among the identified taxa there is a rare species, Cheilosia longula (Zetterstedt, 1838), which is protected in Serbia. Additionally, one potentially new hoverfly species is registered (Merodon aff. cinereus). The first species checklist of hoverflies for Vlasina is proposed
FIRST RECORD OF BRACHYCOLEUS THORACICUS PUTON, 1892 (HEMIPTERA, MIRIDAE) FROM IRAN
A faunal study on plant bugs (Miridae) was carried out in the western part of Kurdistan province during 2016-2017. Two species of the genus Brachycoleus Fieber, 1858 were collected: B. thoracicus Puton, 1892 and B. lineellus Jakovlev, 1884. The former species is reported for the first time from Iran and the latter for the first time from Kurdistan province. In this study, a description of B. thoracicus, and habitus photographs of male and female B. thoracicus Puton, 1892 and B. lineellus Jakovlev are provided. The identified specimens were deposited in the insect collection of the Natural History Museum at University of Guilan, Rasht, Iran
Textbooks for biology applied in schools in Russia
This article describes textbooks that are used in the teaching of biology in schools in Russia. The characteristics of designing biological programme content are presented. The school textbook, as a book, consists of a system of texts, illustrations, apparatus for acquiring knowledge (methodical apparatus) and elements for orientation in the presented contents. In the textbook of biology, different types of texts are distinguished: basic, additional, explanatory. In Russia, biology textbooks for the school public more than ten publishers. A set of biology textbooks, ensuring the continuity of the study of biology in grades 5-9 (10-11) is called the subject line. Authors of different subject lines of textbooks differently select and structure the content of biological education. Depending on the approach to the structuring of the educational material, all subject lines of textbooks can be divided into two groups (system-structural approach and functional approach). These approaches can have a linear or concentric content structure. Each teacher has the right to choose from the variety of subject lines of biology textbooks those that most satisfy his needs
Slovenian national minorities and emigrants in selected primary school curricula and textbooks
The article analyses the curriculum of the primary school subjects Geography, History and Civic and Homeland Education and Ethics, along with some textbooks for these subjects. The purpose of the paper is to determine whether these subjects include material on Slovenian national minorities and emigrants and objectives closely related to such material, which content and objectives are included and to what extent. Pupils in Slovenian primary school address real issues concerning Slovenian national minorities and emigrants, while the message and quantitative representation differ, depending on the basic definition and purpose of the subject. In addition to curricula and textbooks, the behaviour and attitude of pupils to Slovenians abroad is influenced primarily by teachers and their knowledge of their own subject and other subjects, their understanding of the processes of knowledge construction and knowledge of the school vertical and the horizontal
CONTRIBUTION TO THE FAUNA OF CYNIPID GALL WASPS (HYMENOPTERA: CYNIPIDAE) OF MT. OBLA GLAVA (SERBIA)
During 2005-2017 on Mt. Obla Glava (southeastern Serbia), 30 species of gall wasps were recorded from two tribes [Cynipini (26) and Diplolepidini (4)] and 8 genera [Andricus (17 species), Diplolepis (4), Cynips (3), Neuroterus (2), Aphelonyx (1), Biorhiza (1), Dryocosmus (1), and Pseudoneuroterus (1)]. The highest number of species was found on Quercus pubescens (17), somewhat less on Q. frainetto (13) and Q. petraea (11), and the least on Q. cerris (6) and Rosa sp. (4). Andricus stefanii is the first record for Serbia. Localities, dates of gall collecting and host plants for all recorded species are given
FIRST RECORD OF BATHYTHRIX FORMOSA (DESVIGNES) (ICHNEUMONIDAE: CRYPTINAE) IN SERBIA
Bathythrix formosa (Desvignes, 1860) is a new finding of the ichneumonid wasp for the Serbian fauna. It was recorded on the locality Bojanine vode, Suva mt. Serbia from the host species Agroeca sp (Aranea: Liocranidae)
Assessment procedures results of training in biology
The article describes the procedures for evaluating the results of training in biology. The mechanisms for monitoring the learning outcomes of a biology teacher are presented. Examples of algorithms for procedures for evaluating learning outcomes in biology are demonstrated
Application of an Interactive Whiteboard in the Realization of Entomological Programme Contents
In this paper an analysis of the application of an interactive whiteboard (IWB) in the biology teaching was presented. The types of interactive whiteboards, their advantages and disadvantages, the contextual factors on which the application depends, the positive and negative effects in teaching and learning and pedagogical aspects and strategies for applying interactive whiteboard are described. Also, an example is given how the IWB was applied in the realization of entomological programme content. The role and importance of insects in nature has been shown. It is very important that students understand the role of insect (especially insect pollinators) and their importance in nature. With the help of an IWB, this biology programme content was presented in the form of the concept maps. This allowed students to understand the significance of different entomological concepts and relations among them. Also, an overview of the researches about the uses of an IWB in biology teaching in the realization of various biological programme content was given. It was shown that the IWB contributed to the improving of processes of teaching and learning. It was concluded that IWB are determined as positive teaching tools, and researches show that they could have a positive impact on the motivation, perception, attention, behavior of students and their achievements in teaching biology. Application of IWB can be easily accomplished with little additional training (for teachers and students). In the future, training of teaching staff for the using of IWB in teaching biology is planned
