Dr. Serir UZUN July 2025, 84 pages In today's modern life, the rapid development of technology, along with increasing urbanization and industrialization, has led to machines replacing human labor, thereby providing individuals with more leisure time. In line with these developments, the efficient use of leisure time and participation in recreational activities have gained importance. It is well known that time spent on recreational activities has positive effects on individuals' psychological and physical well-being and plays a significant role in enhancing happiness and personal productivity. On the other hand, the inefficient use or complete waste of leisure time may negatively impact individuals' mental state. After fulfilling their basic life responsibilities, individuals can improve their quality of life by engaging in activities that help them relax, enjoy themselves, and rejuvenate. However, low participation levels in such activities may result in a decrease in individuals' happiness. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of recreational activities participated in by teachers—who are exposed to stress, fatigue, and routine workload in their professional lives—on their happiness and quality of life. Within the scope of the research, a survey was conducted with a total of 454 teachers, and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 software. According to the analysis results, statistically significant differences were found (p<0.05) between the frequency of participation in recreational activities and variables such as participants' age, marital status, number of children, family type, educational background, years of experience in teaching, number of years working in Düzce, weekend work status, and income level. Furthermore, it was observed that teachers' participation in recreational activities had a positive effect on both their happiness and quality of life. Regression analysis revealed a significant and positive relationship between happiness and quality of life; as happiness levels increased, so did quality of life, while lower happiness levels were associated with a decline in quality of life
Simultaneous microextraction of Brilliant Blue FCF, Malachite Green, and Rhodamine B in children's play materials: Assessment of greenness approach
The types, quantities, and permissible limits of dyestuffs used in the toy industry are susceptible since the relevant audience is children. For this reason, the dyestuffs used in children's play materials are one of the crucial issues to be emphasized. Rhodamine B, Brilliant Blue FCF, and Malachite Green are some of the most commonly used dyestuffs, and they are also included in our study. In addition to making play materials fun for children, it is vital to determine the amount of the dye in the play material to know the damage it will cause. For this purpose, an ultrasonically assisted, rapid, and highly sensitive green deep eutectic solvent-based microextraction method was developed to detect three synthetic dyes in different children's play materials. Extraction recoveries were between 92.8 and 103.2% under optimum conditions. The method was promising when the results obtained were compared with other studies. When additional recovery studies were carried out on different children's play materials, Rhodamine B in pink-coloured playdough and finger paint, Brilliant Blue FCF in blue-coloured playdough, finger paint, and watercolour paint, and Malachite green dyestuffs in finger paint and crayon were detected. In addition, this study is noteworthy as it is the first study in which simultaneous determination of three dyestuffs by high-performance liquid chromatography method was carried out.Duzce University Scientific Research Projects Fund [2023.05.03.1420]This research was supported by the Duzce University Scientific Research Projects Fund (Project No: 2023.05.03.1420) for contributing to the financial portion of the project

İşe alım sürecinde metaverse ve dijital teknolojilerin kullanılması, doğru adayın belirlenmesine, yer ve zaman sınırlaması olmadan daha çok adayla görüşülmesine, işe alım sürecinde görevlendirilen personel sayısını düşürerek, personel ve maliyet yönünden işletmelere katkıda bulunarak insan kaynağının etkili ve verimli kullanılma imkânı sağlayabileceği görülmüştür
Impacts of agritech on sustainable agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa: a quantile regression approach towards SDG 2.4
Agricultural greenhouse gas emissions on the planet threaten both food security and climate change. The United Nations is calling for food security and sustainable agriculture to end hunger by 2030. Sustainable Development Goal 2.4 addresses resilient agricultural practices to combat climate change and produce sustainable food. Resilient agricultural practices are only possible with agricultural technologies (AgriTech) that will create a digital transformation in agriculture. AgriTech can meet the increasing food demand by increasing production efficiency while increasing resource efficiency by combating problems such as climate change and water scarcity. The aim of this study is to examine the impacts of AgriTech usage on sustainable agriculture in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries. The analyses were conducted using panel data from 20 SSA countries between 2000 and 2022. In this study, MMQR (Method of Moments Quantile Regression) provided consistent results across quantiles in variable interactions, while GMM (Generalized Method of Moments) and KRLS (Kernel Regularized Least Squares Method) approaches were used to ensure consistency of results. The findings confirm that AgriTech (ATECH) and agricultural value added (AGRW) contribute significantly to sustainable agriculture in SSA countries. The coefficients of ATECH and AGRW variables are negative and statistically significant in all quantiles. This shows that when AgriTech use and agricultural value added increase in SSA, emissions from agriculture decrease and the environment improves. However, agricultural credits (ACRD) are insufficient to reduce agricultural emissions. Furthermore, agricultural workers (AEMP) and internet use (INT) help reduce agricultural emissions up to the 60th and 50th quantiles, while this effect disappears at higher quantile levels. These results emphasize the importance of integrating green procurement and green production technologies supported by green credits into agricultural production in order to achieve sustainable agricultural development goals in SSA. Policies that facilitate farmers' access to agricultural green credits should be adopted in SSA societies. Infrastructure works that will increase farmers' access to the internet should be increased. Awareness of agricultural workers on green production and sustainability should be provided to agricultural workers.Highlights.The results show that agricultural technologies, agricultural growth, agricultural labor, and internet use reduce agricultural emissions in SSAcountries, while credit use increases agricultural emissions.AgriTech use (ATECH) and agricultural value-added (AGRW) have statistically significant negative coefficients in all quantiles, indicating that increasing AgriTech and value-added reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. The potential of AgriTech to reduce emissions is higher in low-emission quantiles (10-30%), while the effect is relatively weaker in high-emission quantiles.Agricultural credits (ACRD) only provide environmental improvements in the low-emission quantile (25%) and are insufficient to reduce emissions in high quantiles.Agricultural labor (AEMP) and internet use (INT) significantly reduced emissions at 10-50% quantiles, while this effect disappeared at higher quantiles. Farmers' success in reducing emissions is directly dependent on their internet access.Panel instantaneous momentum quantile regression (MMQR) was preferred to capture heterogeneous interactions, and the robustness of the results was confirmed with the GMM and KRLS approaches
Determining the factors affecting the compliance rate in the use of CPAP/BPAP devices: A mixed method application
The primary objective of this study is to comprehensively identify the factors influencing adherence to CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) and BPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) devices, which constitute the first-line treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), and to compile an extensive list of variables—some of which have not previously been reported in the literature. Employing a mixed-methods design, the study analyzed data from patients treated at a university hospital-affiliated sleep center between 2018 and July 1, 2023. Quantitative data were obtained through structured surveys administered to 449 patients, while qualitative data were derived from in-depth interviews with 30 patients and document analysis of 449 patient records. Data analysis was conducted using FACTOR Analysis, SmartPLS, IBM SPSS, and MAXQDA software. The integration of quantitative and qualitative findings revealed a broad spectrum of multidimensional factors influencing CPAP/BPAP adherence, spanning device- and accessory-related, individual, psychosocial, environmental, regional, socio-political, and cultural domains. The study identified eight novel variables that had not been previously documented in the literature. These included barriers such as fear of lightning/thunderstorms, fear of earthquakes, relocation, religious practices, air pollution, and long hair, along with facilitators like the use of automatic devices and rural residency. The results demonstrate that current theoretical frameworks are inadequate in fully explaining CPAP/BPAP adherence, highlighting the complex and multifactorial nature of the process. This research emphasizes that adherence to CPAP/BPAP therapy cannot be fully understood through individual or technical factors alone; instead, geographical, cultural, religious, and environmental contexts must also be considered. The findings call for the development of new theoretical models and offer evidence-based, practical recommendations for healthcare providers, policymakers, and medical device manufacturers aiming to improve adherence rates
An investigation of filter, net, and proximity structures with a bipolar fuzzy soft approach
In this thesis, a novel definition of a bipolar fuzzy soft point is proposed, differing from the approach in the existing literature. Using this notion, the concepts of neighborhood and adherence point are introduced. A bipolar fuzzy soft filter structure is then defined, and its convergence properties are examined. Based on this structure, a multi-criteria group decision-making method is developed. Next, the idea of a bipolar fuzzy soft quasi coincidence is introduced, leading to the construction of a bipolar fuzzy soft net model. Also, the convergence of such nets is investigated, and their relationship with bipolar fuzzy soft filters is established. Furthermore, a bipolar fuzzy soft proximity structure is presented, and its connection with classical proximity is analyzed. Finally, the concept of a bipolar fuzzy soft cluster is given, and its relationships with both bipolar fuzzy soft filters and bipolar fuzzy soft proximity spaces are evaluated
Evaluation of Variations of the Chorda Tympani Nerve from The Facial Nerve on Resolution CT
Objective: The aim of this study is to define the anatomical variations of the chorda tympani nerve originating from the facial nerve on high resolution CT (HRCT). Method: A retrospective study of 100 patients who underwent temporal bone HRCT imaging in Duzce University, Department of Radiology. Individuals with normal bone structure at least on one side, were included in the study. Multiplanar reconstruction images were created then chorda tympani was imaged and measurements were performed. Results: Thirty-seven bone were excluded. When the originating localizations of the chorda tympani from the facial nerve were examined, 19(11.7%) Aanterior, 85(52.1%) anterolateral, 55(33.7%) lateral and 4(2.5%) posterolateral origins. The distance from the origin of the chorda tympani to the stylomastoid foramen was measured as 3.7 +/- 1.6 mm. The originating angle of the chorda tympani from the facial nerve was measured as 28.2 +/- 10.7 degrees. The widest distance between the chorda tympani and the mastoid segment of the facial nerve was measured as 2.3 +/- 0.6mm. The furthest distance between the mastoid segment of the facial nerve and chorda tympani is inversely correlated with the distance between chorda tympani and stylomastoid foramen. The angle of originating chorda tympani from facial nerve is directly correlated with the distance between chorda tympani and stylomastoid foramen. The ratio of extratemporal branching of chorda tympani is %2.4. Conclusions: The chorda tympani can be clearly seen on axial and reformat images on HRCT. Preoperative evaluation of the chorda tympani nerve might help to plan the surgical approach and thus prevent iatrogenic injury during middle ear surgery
