A Monotone Second-Order Numerical Method for Fredholm Integro-Differential Equation
The purpose of this study is to present a monotone type numerical method for solving Fredholm integro-differential equations. To solve this problem numerically, we have established a finite difference scheme on a uniform mesh using the composite trapezoidal formula. Furthermore, it has been proven that this presented method is second-order convergent in the discrete maximum norm. To support the theoretical basis of this proposed approach, numerical results are presented
Development and evaluation of a Mindfulness-Based on Emotional Eating Reduction program
Bu çalışmanın iki temel amacı bulunmaktadır. İlki Bilinçli Farkındalık Temelli Duygusal Yemeyi Azaltma Programını (BFTDYAP) geliştirmek, ikincisi ise bu programın duygusal yeme üzerindeki etkisini test etmektir. Programın geliştirilmesi aşamasında ihtiyaç analizi yapılmış ve ihtiyaç analizi sonrasında program oluşturulmuş ve Öntest-Sontest kontrol gruplu deneysel desen ile ilki pilot uygulama olmak üzere iki kez test edilmiştir. Araştırma karma yöntemlerden iç içe gömülü desene göre tasarlanmıştır. Bu desende, nitel veriler deneysel işlem öncesi, süresince ve sonucunda toplanmıştır. Bu veri toplama şekli deneysel işlemin katılımcılar üzerindeki etkisinin anlaşılması, nicel sonuçların doğrulanması, deneysel sonuçların daha iyi anlaşılması sağlamaktadır. Araştırma duygusal yeme davranışını azaltmak için başvuran 135 katılımcı içerisinde rastgele atama yoluyla 15 deney grubu 15 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplamda 30 katılımcı online olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada deney grubuna 7 haftalık araştırmacı tarafından verilerin geliştirilen BFTDYAP'ı uygulanmış, kontrol grubuna ise herhangi bir işlem yapılmamıştır. Araştırma da nitel veriler araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan yarı yapılandırılmış formlar aracılığı ile toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler ise Duygusal Yeme Ölçeği, Yeme Farkındalığı Ölçeği ve Duygusal İştah Anketi ile toplanmıştır. Nitel analizinde içerik ve betimsel analiz yöntemleri kullanılırken; nicel verilerin analizinde T-testi ve Mix Design ANOVA testleri kullanılmış ve SPSS programı yardımıyla analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre BFTDYAP'ı duygusal yeme ve duygusal iştahı azaltmada etkili olurken yeme farkındalığını ise arttırmada etkili olmuştur. Tüm bu bulgular literatür ışığında tartışılmış ve bulgulara göre önerilerde bulunulmuştur.This study has two main objectives. The first is to develop the Mindfulness-Based Emotional Eating Reduction Program (MB-EER), and the second is to test the program's effect on emotional eating. During the development phase of the program, a needs analysis was conducted, and based on the results of this analysis, the program was created and tested twice using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Experimental Design, with the first test being a pilot implementation. The research was designed according to the embedded design, one of the mixed research methods. In this design, qualitative data was collected before, during, and after the experimental process. This data collection method helps to understand the effects of the experimental procedure on participants, validate quantitative results, and better understand experimental outcomes. The research was conducted online with a total of 30 participants, randomly assigned into 15 experimental and 15 control groups, out of 135 participants who applied to reduce emotional eating behavior. In the research, the experimental group received the 'MB-EER' program developed by the researcher for 7 weeks, while no intervention was applied to the control group. Qualitative data in the study was collected through semi-structured forms created by the researcher, while quantitative data was collected using the Emotional Eating Scale, the Eating Awareness Scale, and the Emotional Appetite Questionnaire. Qualitative data analysis involved the use of content and descriptive analysis methods, while quantitative data analysis utilized T-tests and Mixed Design ANOVA tests, which were analysied the SPSS program. According to the findings of the research, the Mindfulness-Based Emotional Eating Reduction Program (MB-EER) was found to be effective in reducing emotional eating and emotional appetite, while increasing eating awareness. All these findings were discussed in light of the literature, and recommendations were made based on the results

Bu çalışmada, yapılan tane dağılımı optimizasyonu ile reçine tüketimini azaltarak standardın gerektirdiği mekanik özellikleri sağlayan CTP boru üretimi gerçekleştirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, santrifüj döküm yöntemiyle, 6m boyunda, anma çapı 600mm, rijitlik sınıfı 10.000 N/m2 ve anma basıncı 10 bar olacak nitelikte CTP boruların üretilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Boru üretiminde, matris malzemesi olarak ortoftalik doymamış polyester reçinesi, güçlendirme malzemesi olarak kırpılmış E-cam lifleri kullanılmıştır. Dolgu malzemesi olarak boru üretiminde mevcut durumda kullanılmakta olan AFS 40-45 tane dağılımlı silis dolgusu ve bu tane dağılımına alternatif olarak optimizasyonu yapılan Fuller 0,8 tane dağılımlı silis dolgusu kullanılmıştır. AFS 40-45 tane dağılımlı CTP borular referans boru olarak belirlenmiştir. Kompozit boruların reçine tüketim miktarları ve mekanik özellikleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Üretilen tüm borularda standart reçine miktarından %9,5 daha az reçine kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, anma çapı 600mm olan CTP boru üretiminde mevcut durumda kullanılmakta olan AFS 40-45 tane dağılımı yerine alternatif olarak Fuller 0.8 tane dağılımı optimizasyonunun kullanılmasının daha uygun olacağı kanaatine varılmıştır. Böylelikle daha ekonomik ve daha yüksek mekanik özelliklere sahip boru üretimleri gerçekleştirilebileceği sonucuna varılmıştır
Analysis of Özgür Balpınar's children's literature works in terms of the basic elements of children's literature
Bu araştırmada Özgür Balpınar'ın şu ana kadar yayımlanmış tüm kitaplarının çocuk edebiyatının temel ilkeleri açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Özgür Balpınar'ın on kitabı, çocuk edebiyatı ürünlerinin taşıması gereken dış yapı özellikleri açısından boyut, kâğıt, kapak, sayfa düzeni ve resim; iç yapı özellikleri açısından konu, izlek, karakter, dil ve anlatım, ileti ile eğitsel ilkeler bakımından incelenmiştir. Yazarın kitapları, doküman incelemesi (belge incelemesi) yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, Özgür Balpınar'ın kitaplarının çocuk edebiyatının dış yapı ve iç yapı özellikleri ile eğitsel ilkeler açısından, çocuk edebiyatının temel ilkelerinin büyük çoğunluğuna uygun nitelikte olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu nitelikler; dil ve anlatımın çocukların seviyesine uygun olması, konuların çocukların ilgi, ihtiyaç ve beklentilerine yanıt vermesi, konunun oluşturulmasında, merak duygusu ve çatışmalardan sıkça faydalanılması, karakterlerin çocukların özdeşim kurabileceği yaş ve özelliklere sahip olmasıdır. Bununla birlikte, eserlerin iletilerinin çocuklarda evrensel değerlere duyarlılık geliştirebilecek nitelikte olduğu da belirlenmiştir. İncelenen kitapların tüm özellikleri değerlendirildiğinde Türkçe öğretiminde yararlanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca yazarın kitaplarının, çocuklarda okuma alışkanlığı geliştirmeye yönelik özellikler taşıdığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda incelenen eserlerle ilgili olarak araştırmacılara ve eğitimcilere önerilerde bulunulmuştur.The aim of this research is to examine all of Özgür Balpınar's books published so far in terms of the basic principles of children's literature. Özgür Balpınar's ten books were examined in terms of external structure characteristics that children's literature works should have, such as size, paper, cover, page layout and picture; in terms of internal structure characteristics, subject, theme, character, language and expression, message and educational principles. The author's books were analyzed using the document analysis method. As a result of the research, it was determined that Özgür Balpınar's books are in accordance with the majority of the basic principles of children's literature in terms of external and internal structural features and educational principles. These qualities are that the language and expression are appropriate to the level of the children, the subjects respond to the interests, needs and expectations of the children, the sense of curiosity and conflicts are frequently used in the creation of the subject, and the characters have ages and characteristics that children can identify with. In addition, it has been specified that the messages of the works can build up sensitivity to universal values in children. When all the features of the analysed books were handled, it was concluded that they could be used in teaching Turkish. Besides, it has been seen that the author's books have features that help improve reading habits in children. As a result of the research, recommendations were made to researchers and educators regarding the works examined
Radiation-induced angiosarcoma of the breast: A case report
Introduction and importance: Today, breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and adjuvant radiotherapy are preferred treatments for patients with early invasive breast cancer. Radiation-induced angiosarcoma (RIAS) of the breast is a rare but serious complication of radiotherapy. Case presentation: Seventy-one-year-old woman is presented to our department with a locally advanced dark red polypoid lesion on her left breast. She had left BCS, axillary dissection, and adjuvant radiotherapy for invasive breast cancer 8 years before presentation. A small tissue sample from the breast lesions was sent for histopathologic examination that the diagnosis was angiosarcoma of the breast. She had neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Following the completion of chemotherapy, a total mastectomy was performed as surgical treatment. The final histopathologic diagnosis was well-differentiated angiosarcoma. Clinical discussion: RIAS of the breast is rare disease that develops after a several-year latency period. Locally advanced disease was initially treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy which appears to be effective for significant disease regression. Patients who respond well to chemotherapy in vivo may have higher disease-specific survival rates. After chemotherapy-induced regression of locally advanced sarcoma, total mastectomy was performed for radical treatment. Conclusion: RIAS of the breast is defined as the histological diagnosis of angiosarcoma in an irradiated region after a long latency period in a patient who has previously received radiotherapy for breast carcinoma. Based on clinical and nuclear imaging data, we may conclude that neoadjuvant chemotherapy can result in significant disease regression, and following neoadjuvant chemotherapy the treatment of angiosarcoma is completed by radical breast surgery.Funding This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors
Is Belief Priming Associated With Prosocial Intentions? Experimental Evidence From Turkey
In light of prior research emphasizing the complexity of the link between religiosity and prosocial tendencies, it has remained unknown which specific aspects of faith might motivate individuals to increase concerns about the welfare of others. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the influence of various dimensions of faith (positive, neutral, and negative) on prosocial intentions, considering preexisting levels of religiosity. Initially, participants (N = 217) were asked to provide demographic information and indicate their levels of religiosity through an online data collection platform. Subsequently, participants were randomly assigned to experimental groups in which involving made-up passages describing research findings that emphasized positive (N = 77), negative (N = 78), or neutral (N = 62) outcomes of faith. Finally, participants responded to four scenarios assessing their prosocial intentions. The findings showed that highlighting positive outcomes of faith increases prosocial intentions, particularly among individuals with higher levels of preexisting religiosity. However, neutral or negative aspects of faith showed no significant impact on prosocial intentions, regardless of religiosity levels. These findings contribute to ongoing debates by showing the significance of accounting for individual and contextual variances in religious prosociality and expand previous research by providing evidence from a non-Western cultural context, Turkey, with a predominantly Muslim population. © 2024 American Psychological Associatio
Improving speed control characteristics of PMDC motor drives using nonlinear PI control
This paper introduces a nonlinear PI controller for improved speed regulation in permanent magnet direct current (PMDC) motor drive systems. The nonlinearity comes from the exponential (Exp) block placed in front of the classical PI controller, which uses a tunable exponential function to map the speed error nonlinearly. Such a configuration has not been studied till now, thus meriting further investigation. We consider an exponential PI (EXP-PI) controller and to attain the best performance from this controller, its parameters are optimized offline using salp swarm algorithm (SSA), which borrows its inspiration from the way of forage and navigation of salps living in deep oceans. To indicate the credibility of SSA tuned EXP-PI controller convincingly, numerous experiments on speed regulation in PMDC motor have been implemented using DSP of TMS320F28335. The results obtained are also compared to similar results in the literature. It is shown that the proposed approach performs well in practice by ensuring tight tracking of the speed reference and superb torque disturbance rejection for the closed loop control. Protective Effects of Origanum onites and Its Components on Lead-Nitrate Induced Genotoxicity in Root Cells of Allium cepa L.
This study investigates the protective effects of components (Thymol; Thy, Carvacrol; Car, Linalool; Lin, and alpha-Pinene; AP) and essential oil of Origanum onites L. (O. onites-EO), against lead nitrate -induced cytotoxicity and genotoxicity in Allium cepa L. (A. cepa) root tip cells. These components obtained from O. onites were characterized by gas chromatography (GC). A. cepa bulbs were exposed to 6.25-12.5 mg/L concentrations of the O. onites-EO/components of O. onites-EO for analyses of induction of cytogenetic damage. Then, these bulbs were exposed to 10 mg/L concentrations of lead nitrate for analyses of the protective effects of O. onites and its components. Mitotic abnormalities were evaluated for genotoxicity, and mitotic index (MI) for cytotoxicity. As a result of this study, lead nitrate increased the total chromosomal abnormality amount in A. cepa, indicating genotoxicity. MI was decreased with lead nitrate. However, this effect was significantly improved by components of O. onites-EO. This effect was shown with the decrease in the number of chromosomal abnormalities and increase in MI rates in lead nitrate -induced root cells after exposure to the components of O. onites-EO. The protective effect of O. onites-EO components against the damage caused by lead nitrate in cells can be listed as alpha- Pinene > Thymol > Carvacrol > Linalool. Among all essential oil components tested, alpha-Pinene was determined to have the strongest protective effect. Furthermore, the protective effect of the essential oil, which contains all the components, could not be determined. It has been observed that the components of essential oil have different effects, and it can be said that these components suppress the effects of each other in the mixture where they are found together. In conclusion, this study shows that the components of O. onites-EO have a protective effect on lead nitrate -induced A. cepa root cells
Investigation of electrical properties of concretes produced with olivine, carbon fiber and SWCNT
06.03.2026 tarihine kadar kullanımı yazar tarafından kısıtlanmıştır.Günümüzde gelişen teknoloji ile birlikte yapı sektöründe yeni nesil beton üretimi yaygınlaşmaktadır. Geleneksel betonun, bazı uygulama alanlarında ihtiyaçlara cevap vermemesi sonucunda özel betonlar üretilmeye başlanmıştır. Elektriksel iletken beton da bunlardan biri olmakla beraber son yıllarda bu alanda yapılan çalışmalar gittikçe yoğunlaşmıştır. Geleneksel beton elektriği iletmediğinden beton üretiminde iletken malzemeler kullanılarak betonun bu yönü zenginleştirilebilmektedir. Bu çalışmada; betonda elektriksel iletkenliğin artırılması amacıyla farklı oranlarda; iletken agrega, nano materyal ve lif kullanılmıştır. Referans numunesi olarak hazırlanan numune örneğinde agrega türü olarak silis kumu seçilmiştir. Diğer bir agrega türü olarak kullanılan olivin ise silis kumu ile %25, %50 ve %100 oranlarında ikame edilmiştir. Nano materyal olarak ise tek duvarlı karbon nanotüp (SWCNT) çimento ağırlığının %0,01 ve %0,02'si oranlarında bu iki agrega türü ile kombinasyon şeklinde üretilmiştir. Lif türü olarak kullanılan karbon lifi (KL) ise toplam beton karışım ağırlığına oranla %0,5 oranında silis kumu, olivin ve SWCNT ile kombinasyon şeklinde üretilmiştir. Hazırlanan 40x40x160 ölçülerinde farklı karışım reçetesine sahip prizma numuneler ve beton numunelerinin elektriksel özelliklerinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla elektriksel empedans spektroskopisi ölçümlerinde kullanılmak üzere 20mm çapında 10 mm yüksekliğinde disk numuneler üretilmiştir. Üretilen prizma numunelerin; görünür boşluk oranı, yoğunluk, ultrases geçiş hızı, eğilme dayanımı, basınç dayanımı deneylerinin yanı sıra SEM, TGA ve FT-IR analizleri yapılmıştır. Disk numuneler üzerinde uygulanan empedans spektroskopisi yöntemi ile beton numunelerin; dielektrik sabiti, kapasitans, reel ve imajiner modülüsleri, kayıp tanjant faktörleri, AC elektriksel iletkenlikleri, Cole-Cole ve Argand diyagramları gibi elektriksel özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak çalışma kapsamında kullanılan KL, SWCNT ve olivin agregasının betonun mekanik, fiziksel ve elektriksel özellikleri üzerinde önemli etkilere sahip olduğu, bunların uygun oranlardaki kombinasyonu ile elektriksel özellikleri iyileştirilmiş bir iletken beton üretmenin mümkün olduğu görülmüştür.Nowadays, with the developing technology, new generation concrete production is becoming widespread in the construction sector. As traditional concrete did not meet the needs in some application areas, special concretes began to be produced. Although electrically conductive concrete is one of them, studies in this field have become increasingly widespread in recent years. Since conventional concrete does not conduct electricity, this aspect of concrete can be enriched by using conductive materials in concrete production. In this study; in different proportions in order to increase electrical conductivity in concrete; conductive aggregate, nano material and fiber were used. Silica sand was chosen as the aggregate type in the sample prepared as the reference sample. Olivine, used as another type of aggregate, was replaced with silica sand at the rates of 25%, 50% and 100%. As a nano material, single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) was produced in combination with these two aggregate types at the rates of 0.01% and 0.02% of the cement amount. The carbon fiber used as the fiber type was produced in combination with silica sand, olivine and SWCNT at a rate of 0.5% compared to the total concrete mixture weight. Prism samples with different mixture recipes in 40x40x160 dimensions and disk samples with a diameter of 20 mm and a height of 10 mm were produced to be used in electrical impedance spectroscopy measurements to evaluate the electrical properties of concrete samples. Produced prism samples; void ratio, density were determined and ultrasound pulse velocity, bending strength, compressive strength experiments as well as SEM, TGA and FTIR experiments were carried out. Concrete samples with the impedance spectroscopy method applied on disc samples; Electrical properties such as dielectric constant, capacitance, real and imaginary modulus, loss tangent factors, AC electrical conductivities, Cole-Cole and Argand diagrams were determined. As a result, it has been seen that the carbon fiber, SWCNT and olivine aggregate used in the study have significant effects on the mechanical, physical and electrical properties of concrete, and that it is possible to produce a conductive concrete with improved electrical properties by combining them in appropriate proportions
