Análisis experimental de flujo líquido-líquido en un tubo horizontal usando redes neuronales artificiales
Full text linkEl objetivo de este trabajo es la aplicación de una red neuronal artificial para la predicción de la fracción volumétrica (holdup) de flujo bifásico (aceite-agua) en un tubo en posición horizontal. Para este fin, la velocidad superficial del agua y el aceite se utilizaron como parámetros de entrada, entre tanto, la fracción volumétrica de estos dos fluidos se utilizaron como parámetros de salida para el entrenamiento y prueba de la red neuronal multicapa, el método utilizado fue retro propagación. Los datos experimentales (92 datos) se tomaron en el LEMI-EESC-USP y fueron utilizados para desarrollar el modelo de red neuronal artificial. Finalmente, se concluyó que los datos experimentales utilizados en la red neuronal se ajustan muy bien para una función de transferencia tagsig con 10 neuronas en la capa oculta evaluadas a partir del error porcentual absoluto medio de (AAPE= 3,95) y coeficiente de determinación ( = 0,975).The objective of this work was the application of an artificial neural network in prediction of holdup of two-phase flow (oil-water) in a pipe in horizontal position. To this end, the velocity superficial of water and oil were used as input parameters, meanwhile, the holdups of these two fluids were used as output parameters for the training and testing of the multilayer neural network, the method used was back-propagation. The experimental data (92 data) were taken at LEMI-EESC-USP and were used to develop the artificial neural network model. Finally, it was concluded that the experimental data used in the neural network agreed with the tagsig transfer function with 10 neurons in the hidden layer evaluated from the absolute percentage error of (AAPE= 3,95) and coefficient of determination ( = 0,975).
Internal Realism and Semantic Externalism: «Twin Earth» and «The Brain in The Vat» Arguments
Full text linkEl presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar dos doctrinas que se mantienen entrelazadas en el periodo de producción de Hilary Putnam, que va del año 1976-1990, a saber, el realismo interno y el externalismo semántico, a la luz de dos presupuestos de los argumentos “tierra gemela” y “cerebros en una cubeta”: los enunciados autoadscriptivos y el uso del lenguaje. El propósito del presente trabajo es demostrar que en estos puzzles se evidencia la adopción satisfactoria de ambas posiciones en el programa del referido filósofo, y que un análisis exhaustivo permite una ponderación más precisa del alcance y los planteamientos del autor. La conclusión a la que se arriba es que, si bien existe compatibilidad entre el externalismo semántico y el realismo interno, con distintos matices, en los argumentos mencionados, sin embargo, resulta ambiguo el estatus ontológico y epistémico del lenguaje representacional de quienes se encuentren en el estado hipotético presentados en ambos puzzles.This article aims to analyze two doctrines that remain intertwined in Hilary Putnam's philosophy, namely, internal realism and semantic externalism in light of two presuppositions of the “Twin Earth” and "Brains in a vat” arguments: self-ascriptive statements and the use of language. It affirms that satisfactory adoption of both positions in Putnam´s program is evidenced and that an exhaustive analysis allows a more precise weighting of the author's scope and approaches. The conclusion reached is that, although there is compatibility between semantic externalism and internal realism in both arguments, however, the ontological and epistemic status of the representational language of those who are in the hypothetical state of those kind of puzzles is ambiguous

Full text linkThis article aims to demonstrate the relationship that exists between Liberation Theology, from what the philosopher and theologian Leonardo Boff (1991) proposes, with ecology and how these concepts work together, integrating non-violence (of which Gandhi developed his own definition), seeks to ensure that the rights of all living beings that inhabit this planet are respected and recognized. The reflection of the above is presented as a possible solution to the irreversible climate change in which we find ourselves and it is in the testimony where it finds a means to make visible the effects of violence. Finally, an interview is included with a representative of the international association for Animal Equality, who seeks to join the fight for the rights of farm animals, thus providing an example of active opposition against violence.Este artículo tiene como objetivo demostrar la relación que existe entre la Teología de la Liberación, desde lo que plantea el filósofo y teólogo, Leonardo Boff (1991), con la ecología y cómo estos conceptos trabajando en conjunto, al integrar la no-violencia (de la que Gandhi desarrolló su propia definición), buscan conseguir que se respete y reconozcan los derechos de todos los seres vivos que habitan este planeta. La reflexión de lo anterior, se presenta como una posible solución frente al irreversible cambio climático en el que nos encontramos y es en el testimonio donde encuentra un medio para visibilizar los efectos de la violencia. Por último, se incluye una entrevista con una representante de la asociación internacional de Igualdad Animal, quienes buscan sumarse a la lucha en favor de los derechos de los animales de granja, brindando así, un ejemplo de oposición activa contra la violencia
¿Podemos mentirle al asesino frente a la puerta? Un análisis de la filosofía kantiana sobre la mentira
Full text linkLa filosofía moral kantiana ha sido criticada por su compromiso con el rigorismo moral. Esta crítica está basada en la posición kantiana respecto a la mentira; específicamente, se deriva de la afirmación de Kant de que es un deber ser veraces incluso con el asesino que llega a casa preguntando por el paradero del amigo refugiado. Este artículo tiene un carácter enteramente expositivo y tiene el objetivo de reconstruir y examinar la posición de Kant frente a la mentira para determinar si la acusación rigorista está bien fundamentada. Examino tres fuentes: Lecciones de ética (§1.1), “Sobre un supuesto derecho a mentir por filantropía” (§1.2) y Metafísica de las costumbres (§1.3). De este examen comparativo, concluyo que no existe evidencia textual que demuestre que Kant defienda categóricamente el deber de ser veraces en el caso del asesino en la puerta, de manera que la acusación de rigorismo que pesa en contra de la filosofía moral kantiana, al menos en lo que respecta a este caso en particular, no parece estar bien fundamentada.Kantian moral philosophy has been criticized for its commitment to moral rigorism. This criticism is based on the Kantian position on lying, specifically, it derives from Kant’s assertion that it is a duty to be truthful even to the murderer who comes home asking for the whereabouts of the refugee friend. This article is explanatory in spirit and aims to reconstruct and examine Kant’s position on lying to determine whether the rigorist critic is well founded. I examine three sources: Lectures on Ethics (§1.1), “On an Alleged Right to Lie for Philanthropy” (§1.2) and Metaphysics of Morals (§1.3). From this comparative examination I conclude that there is no textual evidence to prove that Kant categorically defends the duty to be truthful in the case of the murderer at the door; so that the accusation of rigorism against Kantian moral philosophy, at least as far as this case is concerned, does not seem to be well founded
The Cyborg: from Human Exceptionality to Technological Singularity

Aquí se expondrá la tesis de que el proyecto transhumanista puede proponer una vida que vale la pena ser vivida desde la mejora tecnológica. Para lograr defender esta tesis se propondrá como itinerario examinar la tesis de la excepcionalidad humana y la propuesta transhumanista; las posturas bioconservadoras y bioliberales y la postulación del cyborg en el contexto del antropoceno como proyecto de un transhumanismo moderado.The objective of this text it is to show the tension that exists between two projects: the humanist and the transhumanist. Here the thesis that the transhumanist project can propose a life worth living from technological improvement will be exposed. In order to defend this thesis, the following itinerary will be proposed: examine the thesis of human exceptionality and the transhumanist proposal; the bioconservative and bioliberal positions and the postulation of the cyborg in the context of the Anthropocene as a project of a moderate transhumanism
Heat flow and specific heat capacity in the dehydration stage of biomasses pyrolysis through thermal analyses
Full text linkEste estudio tiene como objetivo investigar la influencia de la humedad de la caña energética y la fibra de coco sobre el flujo de calor y la capacidad calorífica específica en la etapa de deshidratación del proceso de pirólisis. Los experimentos se llevaron a cabo en un analizador simultáneo de termogravimetría y calorimetría diferencial de barrido utilizando una velocidad de calentamiento de 20 K/min en atmósfera inerte. Se identificaron tres etapas de descomposición: deshidratación (marcada por un pico endotérmico expresivo), pirólisis y carbonización. De los análisis de los aportes de agua se observó que el flujo de calor proveniente de la capacidad calorífica del agua remanente (Qwc) es despreciable en comparación con el flujo de calor proveniente de la evaporación del agua (Qwe), para ambas biomasas. Además, calculamos el flujo de calor a partir de la capacidad calorífica (Qb) y la capacidad calorífica específica experimental (cp,b) de las biomasas de 686-2371 J/kg K y 1076-2113 J/kg K, respectivamente. Así, para la etapa de deshidratación, se han propuesto ecuaciones polinómicas teóricas de tercer y cuarto orden para predecir el calor requerido para el calentamiento de las biomasas.This study aims to investigate the influence of the moisture of energy cane and coconut fiber on heat flow and specific heat capacity in the dehydration stage from the pyrolysis process. The experiments were carried out in a simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry analyzer using a heating rate of 20 K/min in an inert atmosphereThree decomposition stages were identified: dehydration (marked by an expressive endothermic peak), pyrolysis, and carbonization). From the analyses of the water contributions, it was observed that the heat flow from the heat capacity of remaining water (Qwc) is negligible compared to the heat flow from the water evaporation (Qwe), for both biomasses. Also, we calculated the heat flow from the heat capacity (Qb) and the experimental specific heat capacity (cp,b) of biomasses such as 686-2371 J/kg K and 1076-2113 J/kg K, respectively. Then, for the dehydration stage, third- and fourth-order theoretical polynomial equations have been proposed to predict the heat required for the biomass heating

The Discourse on the Method or the Discourse on Methods
Full text linkThis paper aims to offer an interpretation of Descartes’ Discourse on the method provided his first insights expressed in the Principles of Philosophy. His estimation not only claims that both methods are bound together, but that Principia Philosophiae represents the second and third parts of the Discourse. To elaborate on the above point, this piece is divided into three parts. The first one is dedicated to observing his elaboration of the man of integrity. The second one assesses both scientific and ethical sets of precepts. The last one shows the results e.g., certainties obtained from applying each method.El objetivo del escrito consiste en mostrar una interpretación del Discurso a partir de la lectura realizada por Descartes en los Principia y, más exactamente, en la “Carta-prefacio” a la traducción francesa. Esta interpretación sostiene que el texto que la tradición filosófica ha conocido como Discurso se trata de dos métodos estrechamente unidos o de un método que comprende las partes segunda y tercera. Para demostrar lo anterior, el texto se divide en tres acápites. El primero está dedicado a observar la categoría de integralidad que parece exigirse de quien aspire a transitar los caminos del saber.
