Get PDFThis article discusses typical mistakes Chinese learners of Russian make in their perception and production of Russian speech in terms of rhythmical word structure. The author conducted an experiment in 2006. The experiment consisted of 2 tasks: imitating and reading words of different stress and rhythm patterns. Mistakes fell into 2 groups. Perception mistakes included misperception of the location of stress and miscalculation of the quantity of syllables in words. Production mistakes included distorted quality of vowels, misplaced stress or equal stress on different syllables in a word, wrong number of syllables or a combination of these mistakes
