An active dictionary enables users to produce correct texts in the foreign language. The user should get as many equivalents as possible, and also learn about meaning differences, stylistic characteristics and usage of different equivalents. The dictionary has to offer paraphrases, synonyms and text examples of word and idiom usage. In a bi-directional dictionary, e. g. Italian-German and German-Italian, the user should be enabled to double-check potential translation using the passive dictionary (back translation). The two parts of the dictionary should be relatively symmetric. This article contains some suggestions how to achieve this relative symmetry

The article analyzes the semantics of the Eastern Slavic past tense verb forms, the aorist and the imperfect tense. The research material is one of the most understudied Old Russian texts, the «Prologue» of the 16th century. The author draws a conclusion about the systematic functioning of the verb forms in the text and, consequently, about the high semantic potential of the analyzed verb forms

Space is a gap, which does not bear any gap and is filled with objects. Space dimensions determine the form of the object. Objects-items have features of distance, objects-substances have volume. Separate parts of space (local objects) have features of distance and volume in combination. Their nomination has indirect character. These are word-forms as a component of the paradigm of nomination of the object-items (in the city, on the square) or objects-substances (in the air), word-form orientations (out of town), adverbs with pronoun features, events, consituation. Space is a latent semantic category (cryptotype)

In this paper we will try to answer two questions which came up to me while I was working on the «Bulgarian Contactological Dictionary of Adaptation of Contact-Lexemes under Russian Influence». The first one refers to the problem of selecting material for the dictionary. The other is purely a matter of conceptual and terminological nature and is related to the first one: why do we use terminological phrase «contact-lexeme under dominant Russian influence» instead of the traditional term «Russianism»? And why do we use the term «contact-lexeme» instead of «loanword»? The content and structure of the dictionary will be presented in the third part of the paper
