The academic history and career development process of a person with intellectual disability (5): Continuous support in his developing interpersonal relationships after graduating from high school for special needs education with intellectual disabilities support
Full text linkThis research was designed to examine educational support and guidance that the research collaborator (hereinafter referred to as A), a graduate of high school for special needs education with intellectual disabilities support, received during his high school days as well as career development process after graduation through conducting four qualitative interviews and analyzing related documents. The educational support and guidance were related to career education including vocational education and career guidance. The career development process was conceptualized through data gained from the interviews, which were conducted after A’s graduating from high school. In this research, the researcher conducted a new interview with A and his mother, in which the researcher asked questions regarding support and services that A and his mother thought that A had needed continuously from his high school days to this day. As the result of the interview, the researcher found that A still faced numerous challenges and difficulties in his developing interpersonal relations although A’s duties and responsibilities in his workplace had been adjusted according to his abilities.
