A Study of Music Education Teaching Methods in Elementary School Teacher Training Courses -Examining Singing Instructions for Beginners
This study aimed to examine teaching methods for singing instruction for beginners in elementary school teacher training courses and explore modes of teaching singing that consider beginners’ actual status in the context of university teacher training courses. Many students in the university’s teacher training course are beginners with poor musical skills. And with the new curriculum set for 2026, music-related classes, including “Music Education,” will see their instructional hours reduced by half, necessitating a reevaluation of the overall music curriculum. Prior research on singing instruction confirms the necessity of musical skills to teach singing and indicates that teachers must be familiar with the pleasure of music and singing and must also be compassionately invested in guiding children away from singing poorly. These previous studies suggest that, regarding singing instruction for children, teachers who love music and thoroughly understand the wonder of singing can teach students about the beauty and depth of singing. Based on our research results, we aim to design a curriculum detailing specific teaching methods for singing instruction, with the goal of establishing teaching methods that will allow all students, including beginner teachers, to experience the depth and beauty of music and familiarize with singing with children.departmental bulletin pape

departmental bulletin pape
