    Higher Education as an Agent of Religious Moderation: An Analysis of Lecturers' and Students' Perceptions of Nationalistic Insight

    Islamic education plays an important role in shaping moderate understanding and attitudes in diversity. Various parties must participate in efforts to create social harmony and peace, so it is important to optimize religious moderation among Muslims. Islamic education plays an important role in shaping understanding and moderate attitudes towards religion. Through quantitative methods, this paper describes the perceptions of students and lecturers towards religious moderation in national insight. Researchers have set four indicators of understanding religious moderation as a reference in obtaining and analyzing data accurately, as follows: 1) having a national commitment, 2) not disturbing others and always respecting other religious opinions, 3) not causing violence both verbal and non-verbal. 4) always appreciating the diversity of local culture. These four indicators have been used to measure or analyze the level of understanding of students and lecturers in the Islamic Education Study Program, IAIN Pontianak about the concept of religious moderation. It can be assumed that the level of understanding of students and lecturers can affect their attitudes and behavior in practicing religious teachings. Therefore, Islamic Religious Education and Character Education can maintain the pillars of moderate character building, emphasizing aspects of tolerance, local wisdom, non-violence, and commitment to the nation, not the other way around, exclusive Islam that even tends to be extreme. This paper contributes to the model of academic-religious development based on religious moderation in higher education. This is important to prevent extremism by strengthening religious practices based on the essence of religious teachings.Pendidikan Islam berperan penting dalam membentuk membentuk pemahaman dan sikap moderat dalam beragam. Berbagai pihak harus berpartisipasi dalam upaya menciptakan harmoni dan perdamaian sosial, sehingga penting untuk mengoptimalkan moderasi beragama di kalangan umat Islam. Pendidikan Islam memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk pemahaman dan sikap moderat terhadap agama. Melalui metode kuantitaif, tulisan ini memaparkan terkait persepsi mahaiswa dan dosen terhadap moderasi beragama dalam wawasan kebangsaan. Peneliti telah menetapkan empat indikator tentang pemahaman moderasi beragama sebagai acuan dalam memperoleh dan menganalisis data secara akurat, sebagai berikut: 1) memiliki komitmen kebangsaan, 2) tidak mengusik orang lain dan senantiasa menghargai pendapat agama lainnya, 3) tidak menimbulkan kekerasan baik yang bersifat verbal maupun non verbal. 4) senantiasa menghargai kebinekaragaman budaya lokal. Keempat indikator tersebut telah digunakan untuk menakar atau menganalisis tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa dan dosen di Program Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam, IAIN Pontianak tentang konsep moderasi beragama. Hal ini dapat diasumsikan bahwa tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa dan dosen dapat memengaruhi sikap dan prilakunya dalam mempraktikkan ajaran agama. Oleh karena itu Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Pendidikan Karakter dapat mempertahankan pilar pembentukan karakter moderat, menekankan aspek toleransi, kearifan lokal, anti kekerasan, dan komitmen terhadap bangsa, bukan sebaliknya, Islam yang eksklusif bahkan cenderung ekstrim. Tulisan ini berkontribusi pada model pengembangan akademik- keagamaan berbasis moderasi beragama di perguruan tinggi.     Emotional Maturity, Religious Tolerance and Religiosity Within Millennial Generation

    Indonesia’s diversity may be challenging as it can be a double-edged knife in the context of social interaction. Not only supporting positive development direction, the diversity also carries negative influence that may cause inharmony to Indonesian society. In the context of the millennial generation as the future leader, the diversity is also very important for further discussion in response to the efforts of building a harmonious society. Projecting the case study of millennial generation in Pontianak City of West Borneo, this work aims to explore the level of emotional maturity, religiosity and religious tolerance, as well as to verify the relationship between emotional maturity, religiosity and religious tolerance. It is based on a quantitative approach with a type of causality research project. There were 182 samples in this study. The research results show that the Pontianak City millennial generation is in a high category in terms of emotional maturity, religiosity and religious tolerance. Further, the results have proven that emotional maturity and religiosity have a relationship with religious tolerance, which indicates that each dimension of emotional maturity and religiosity has a relationship with religious tolerance. The findings also show that an additional factor that shapes emotional maturity, religiosity and religious tolerance is the educational level of the millennial generation. This indicates that the higher the level of education of the millennial generation, the higher their emotional maturity, religiosity and religious tolerance

    ANALYSIS OF THE ROLE OF PEER TEACHING IN THE PROCESS OF COUNSELING EDUCATION AND TEACHING

    Peer teaching and peer counseling are methods and approaches that can be used in an educational context to enhance the teaching and learning process and provide emotional and social support to students. Peer learning can increase student motivation, social skills, understanding of material, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence. Students learn interactively and mutually support each other, and can get explanations that are easier to understand from classmates who are more experts in certain fields. This study uses the literature study method with a qualitative data approach. The results of the research show that peer learning and peer counseling can be effective approaches in improving the teaching and learning process and providing support to students. Continuous evaluation needs to be done to improve the quality and effectiveness of the implementation of the two methods

    Moeslem believe that life order in Islam is the most perfect religion. In Islamic teaching and also in Al-Qur’an as the main reseourch of Islam, clearly stated about that. The fact obout that significant Islamic teachings also shown in local and global daily life of Moeslem. Science and local culture become a unity that build in a good term of communication and interaction, especially in certain groups and region. Based on that previouse statement, nowdays,  there are a lot of opportunities and challenges than appear in the era of social media. Local culture happen and become pioneer ini terms of social media development to support daily living. But, as the opportunities also come along with the challenges that we have to pay particular attention. Based on thet case this study become necessary. As moeslems, we have to remember that local culture ini social life based on Islamic teachings. This issues finally become the main study in this article because the basic of local culture in society should be taken from Islamic values, how far social media usage affected local culture. As we know, social media give us a lot of advantages along with the disadvantages. We should seek for the best way in order to minimize the disadvantages

    Perempuan merupakan bagian yang sangat penting dalam suatu kesuksesan baik keluarga, agama, nusa dan bangsa. Perempuan dalam hal ini memiliki kekuatan yang luar bisa besar dalam membangun serta mencapai kebahagian dalam keluarga. Pergerakkan perempuan di Indonesia ditandai dengan gerakkan emansipasi wanita yang dipelopori oleh Kartini. Beliau merupakan perempuan pertama dan utama dalam memberikan kesetaraan gender di Indonesia. Perjuangan Ibu Kartini juga memerlukan waktu dan tenaga yang sangat besar, karena diawal pergerakkannya mengalami penolakkan yang luar biasa. Kesetaraan gender yang diperjuangan oleh Kartini dan generasi-generai berikutnya memiliki arti sangat penting bagi perempuan Indonesia, terlihat secara jelas pada saat ini keterwakilan perempuan disemua aspek kehidupan terlihat secara jelas dan nyata, dengan bukunya “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang”. Pergerakan perempuan Indonesia juga kita kenal selain Kartini juga ada beberapa nama seperti dari Aceh Cut nya Dien, Cut Murtia dan masih banyak halnya lagi, sehingga keseteraan gender di Indonesia dapat diterima oleh semua kalangan. Dalam dewasa ini sudah sangat kurang sekali bentuk kekerasan di rumah tangga, ini merupakan bukti nyata dari gerakkan perjuangan perempuan Indonesia berhasilan dan mendapatkan  pengakuan secara baik dan serius.

    The Al-Mujadalah Approach In Preventing Sexual Orientation Deviations Among Students In Islamic Boarding Schools

    Sexual orientation deviation is a problem that undermines moral values, ethics, noble principles, and goes against the principles of any religion. Therefore, the existence of individuals with same-sex preferences is not widely accepted by a significant portion of the Indonesian society. However, the phenomenon of sexual orientation deviation has spread everywhere, including in dormitories, correctional institutions (prisons), and even within the environment of Islamic boarding schools. The fact that must be acknowledged is that religious-based educational institutions or Islamic boarding schools, where the functions of education and religion converge into a single environment, can potentially trigger students to experience sexual orientation deviations. This issue should not be taken lightly, let alone ignored. Therefore, students require assistance with a suitable, structured method that has the capacity to prevent sexual deviations from occurring. This research has the objectives to elucidate how the al-Mujadalah approach can prevent deviations in sexual orientation among students in Islamic boarding schools. This research adopts a qualitative research design in the form of a literature review. Data analysis results were verified through focus group discussions. The research outcomes indicate that (1) factors contributing to the occurrence of homosexual behavior in Islamic boarding schools are triggered by the environment, namely, the restriction of interaction between male and female students, the situations surrounding the students that lead them to engage in various activities together, such as researching, eating, sleeping, storytelling, and even bathing. These habits are passed down by senior students who have been influenced. (2) The al-Mujadalah approach can be understood as an exchange of ideas through evidence-based arguments or reasoning between counselors and counselees, aimed at resolving the issues faced by the counselees. Guidance provided to adolescent students should be presented with effective strategies and high-quality argumentation patterns, including claims, grounds, warrants, backing, modal qualifiers, and rebuttals.Penyimpangan orientasi seksual merupakan masalah yang merongrong nilai-nilai moral, etika, prinsip luhur, dan bertentangan dengan prinsip-prinsip agama mana pun. Oleh karena itu, keberadaan individu dengan preferensi sesama jenis tidak diterima secara luas oleh sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia. Namun, fenomena penyimpangan orientasi seksual telah menyebar di berbagai tempat, termasuk asrama, lembaga pemasyarakatan (penjara), bahkan di lingkungan pesantren. Fakta yang harus diakui adalah bahwa lembaga pendidikan berbasis agama atau pesantren, di mana fungsi pendidikan dan agama berpadu dalam satu lingkungan, berpotensi memicu santri mengalami penyimpangan orientasi seksual. Masalah ini tidak boleh dianggap remeh, apalagi diabaikan. Oleh karena itu, santri memerlukan pendampingan dengan metode yang sesuai dan terstruktur untuk mencegah terjadinya penyimpangan seksual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana pendekatan al-Mujadalah dapat mencegah penyimpangan orientasi seksual di kalangan santri pesantren. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif berbentuk kajian pustaka. Hasil analisis data diverifikasi melalui diskusi kelompok terfokus (focus group discussion). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Faktor-faktor penyebab perilaku homoseksual di pesantren dipicu oleh lingkungan, yaitu pembatasan interaksi antara santri laki-laki dan perempuan, serta situasi di mana santri terlibat dalam berbagai aktivitas bersama, seperti belajar, makan, tidur, bercerita, hingga mandi. Kebiasaan ini diturunkan oleh santri senior yang telah terpengaruh. (2) Pendekatan al-Mujadalah dipahami sebagai pertukaran ide melalui argumen atau penalaran berbasis bukti antara konselor dan konseli, yang bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi konseli. Bimbingan yang diberikan kepada santri remaja harus disajikan dengan strategi efektif dan pola argumentasi berkualitas tinggi, termasuk klaim, landasan, jaminan, dukungan, penguat modal, dan sanggahan

    Contradiction of Power Within Muslim Women in Minangkabau Matrilineal Society

    This research explores the relationship between power and gender, focusing mainly on Minangkabau Muslim women. The study integrates a literature review with ethnographic methods to understand how these women navigate societal structures that prioritize male authority, commonly referred to as ‘patriarchal frameworks ‘, while adhering to cultural traditions. Data were collected from academic sources, community reports, and fieldwork, highlighting women’s lived experiences in key lineage and household leadership positions. The findings indicate that while Minangkabau Muslim women are empowered by their roles as lineage bearers and heads of households, they encounter significant challenges due to the intersection of gender and Islamic norms. Tensions emerge between their matrilineal heritage and the patriarchal structures reinforced by specific interpretations of Islam, which restrict their economic participation, decision-making power, and access to resources. Despite these constraints, women utilize strategies such as pursuing financial independence, engaging in education, and reinterpreting Islamic teachings to align with their cultural and gender identities. This research emphasizes the complexities of gender dynamics in matrilineal societies, especially where Islamic norms intersect with local traditions. It highlights the importance of evolving cultural practices in fostering more inclusive and equitable social structures, offering a potential pathway for positive change within the Minangkabau community

    DA'WAH STRATEGY BY THE ASSEMBLY OF MUJAHADAH SHALAWAT HUBBUSYAFA'AT IN OVERCOMING THE CRISIS OF MODERN SOCIETY

    Modernity with all the advances in science and technology has dominated human life and left problems and negative influences, especially those related to human psychological conditions such as mental, spiritual and spiritual life. As a result, various kinds of social crises emerge, structural crises, moral crises, spiritual crises whose roots are the problem of the meaning of human life itself. In the end it creates mental anxiety, such as stress, frustration, depression, alienation, even dehumanization. The Mujahadah Shalawat Hubbussyafa'at Assembly exists as a fortress and medicine for diseases caused by modernity. The Mujahadah Shalawat Hubbussyafa'at Assembly through mujahadah-shalawat activities in the study of da'wah science can be used as a strategy based on spirituality in the Modern era or in al-Bayānūnī's language it is called a sentimental strategy (al-manhaj al-'āṭifi). In addition, in its implementation, this activity also contains several kinds of sentimental strategies (al-manhaj al-'āṭifi) in overcoming the problems of modernism, including: provision of guidance, the unifier of the Islamic ummah or ukhuwah Islamiyah, preaching that is not burdensome and giving motivation.     Morals are the core of Islamic teachings, the position of morals as a basis in religion has a strong urgency to be applied by every Muslim. In Islam, the Prophet is the main role model in this regard, his mission as a bearer of sharia and noble morals is a benchmark that must be followed. This paper seeks to discuss the morals and character found in the Prophet. In searching for data, the author fully uses the library research method by collecting data from various sources such as history books, hadith or scientific articles relevant to the discussion, the method used in this study is descriptive, namely the author only describes the discussion of the literature collected and researched in accordance with the themes and limitations studied. The results of this study indicate that the Prophet is the most noble of his character, the most noble of his character. The Prophet had all kinds of noble morals both vertically and horizontally, meaning that the Prophet was not only superior in noble characters applied to fellow creatures, the Prophet was also successful in conveying the teachings of Islam by applying praiseworthy morals. History records that since childhood he has been given privileges by Allah SWT, including the provision of praiseworthy morals and preservation from despicable traits. This noble character continues to increase along with the journey of life and preaching that is delivered, and the problems faced so that he reaches true moral perfection.

    Kontekstualisasi konsep Jihad mengacu pada pemahaman yang lebih luas dan menyeluruh tentang arti dan makna Jihad dalam Islam. Jihad bukan hanya sekadar berperang atau menggunakan kekerasan, melainkan juga meliputi usaha untuk meningkatkan kualitas kehidupan, memperjuangkan kebaikan, dan keadilan sosial. Tantangan Islamophobia juga perlu diperhatikan dalam konteks ini, karena seringkali Jihad disalahartikan dan dianggap sebagai tindakan kekerasan yang dilakukan oleh kaum Muslim. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan studi pustaka (literature review) yang diharapkan dapat memberi pemahaman yang tepat tentang konsep Jihad perlu ditekankan, serta perlu dilakukan upaya untuk mengatasi Islamophobia agar tidak memengaruhi pandangan masyarakat terhadap umat Muslim secara keseluruhan
