Psychological preparation for child health nursing among nurses on mixed child and adult hospital wards
Get PDFPurpose: Japan is facing a severely decreasing birthrate. As a result, many pediatric wards are closing or have reduced capacity; therefore, the number of mixed wards hospitalizing both adults and children is increasing. This study aims to clarity current issues regarding the psychological preparation for child health nursing among nurses on child and adult hospital wards in Japan.
Methods: A total of 500 nursing staff members from general hospitals in the Kinki and Hokuriku regions with pediatric departments and ≥500 beds were sent a self-report questionnaire. The questionnaire identified factors contributing to nurses’ recognition and methods of preparation for pediatric patients according to their personal attributes and child health nursing experience. The study was conducted from January to March 2012, and responses were received from 233 nurses (164 from pediatric wards and 69 from mixed child and adult wards). Only the responses of the 69 nurses from mixed wards were included in the final analysis.
Results: The nurses’ mean age was 33.29 ∓ 9.25 years and their mean number of years of child health nursing experience was 4.54 ∓ 4.76 years. About 60 percent of the nurses recognized "lumbar puncture/bone marrow aspiration" and " kidney biopsy/intracardiac catheterization" to be“difficult procedures for practice psychological preparation”. It is because these require the special practice about "child health nursing" as this reason. Conclusions: These findings indicate the need to consider methods that allow nurses who work in mixed wards to practice psychological preparation.departmental bulletin pape
Reading Circles : Combining Collaborative Learning and Extensive Reading

As Light, Cox, and Calkins (2009) state in their popular text on pedagogy Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, “the opportunity to come together in small groups to change conceptions and explore theories and insights provides students with one of the most important learning experiences higher education has to offer.” This article looks at one such form of smallgroup, discussion-based learning - reading circles - and provides some evidence, both theoretical and practical, supporting further utilization of reading circles in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes and non-EFL classes.

The Attempt at Flipped Classroom of Utilizing Information-technology
Get PDFIn recent years, some practical cases of “Flipped Classroom” on school education have been reported. “Flipped Classroom” means a mode of the lesson that the contents is first flipped to students as a homework of utilizing ICT, then the face-to-face teaching will be given for students to develop learning. In this paper, the issues in the conduct of “Flipped Classroom” have been overhauled and reported based on the trial results of specific lesson. Two types were adopted while completing the specific lesson contents of “Flipped Classroom”. One was document type, the other was video type. Especially the analysis of an access log were intended for the log data of video contents through LMS. Moreover, the student questionnaire result has been reported. According to the results in this paper, the mean purpose will aim at gathering more requirements and problems to further develop “Flipped Classroom” effectively.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF本稿は、現在社会問題となっている保育者の早期離職問題を、養成教育との接続の観点から考察することを目的とする。保育者の早期離職の理由に関する先行研究を整理すると、保育の力量や専門性の問題というよりは、職場の人間関係や管理職との関係、また職場の文化への適応におけるつまずきが多く見られる。保育者に求められる資質能力に関して国などがスタンダードを出しているが、養成教育では、保育技術や子どもと対応する力といった専門性の向上の前に、いわゆる社会人基礎力にあたる力の養成を重視する必要があるといえる。The purpose of this paper is to examine the problem of early retirement of kindergarten and nursery school teachers from the view point of articulation from kindergarten and nursery school teacher education. The preceding studies have clarified that the many reasons of early retirements were the failures in adaptation to a relation between the human relations of the workplace and the administrative, and the culture of workplace rather than the ability of the nurture and the problem of specialty.
We can find some national standards about the competencies and abilities to be purchased by kindergarten and nursery school teachers, but it can be said that it's necessary to emphasize education of fundamental competencies for working persons before improvement of nurture skills and specialty.departmental bulletin pape

Determining which people undergoing tube feeding during home-based care are at high risk of needing urgent oral care : a pilot study examining characteristics of people in whom Pseudomonas aeruginosa was detected
Get PDF40020539721Among people undergoing tube feeding due to gastric fistula and other causes, it can be hypothesized that those in whom intraoral P. aeruginosa is detected have unhygienic mouths, and that they could be subject to many other opportunistic pathogens. This pilot study aimed to clarify the characteristics of people in whom P. aeruginosa was detected in order to provide a perspective from which to judge who is at high risk of needing urgent oral care.
1. Compared with people in whom P. aeruginosa was not detected, those in whom it was detected were more frequently found to be positive for C. albicans (p=.048); it was therefore judged that they were at high risk of needing urgent oral care due to poor intraoral hygiene.
2. Comparing the characteristics of the group in whom P. aeruginosa was detected and of the group for whom it was not, the group with P. aeruginosa had less halitosis (p=.020). No differences were found in the method of oral care or in number of times per day it was conducted.
These findings suggest that even among people undergoing tube feeding during homebased care, determining whether urgent oral care is necessary is a high priority. A larger sample size and improvements of the pilot scheme are needed in order to provide visiting nurses and others with the ability to determine who is at high risk of needing urgent oral care.departmental bulletin pape
The support for parents and children in the 18-month-old children's health examination program
Get PDF１歳６ヵ月健診における発達障害註および発達遅滞の早期発見と早期療育の観点についてはこれまでも多くの調査報告がなされてきた。本論では、親と子への地域における発達援助の視点の必要性を論じた。筆者が関わった１歳６ヵ月健診における資料をもとに、健常に発達している子どもの親も育児不安と困難感を抱いていることを示した。とりわけ男児の母親が情緒社会面での困難を感じている。また、経過観察された子どもの２／３が２歳過ぎに正常範囲内の発達を遂げ、親の不安も解消したことを示した。親子の葛藤が生じやすい１歳半の時期に親を過度に不安にさせるのではなく、育児困難を受けとめていく地域の場が必要と思われる。departmental bulletin pape
