DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IMPACT ON JOBS AFTER COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Digital transformation (DT) is a change in the business model of the company by applying new digital technologies. New digital technologies related to the application of automation, robotics, artificial intelligence and contemporary information and communication technology (ICT). The consequence of the application of DT will be the replacement of routine tasks with automation, which is controlled by artificial intelligence. Greater flexibility and efficiency of work will be achieved in terms of place of work, time of work and ways of engaging people. The changes will be felt by all companies, regardless of size or activity. Due to that, DT will also change the labour requirements. Automation of routine jobs will lead to large layoffs. Many professions will almost disappear as the technology they worked with becomes obsolete. It is envisaged to create new job profiles following the requirements of new technologies. Since the application of DT requires new skills and knowledge, it is necessary to educate workers and managers to successfully apply new technologies
EMPIRICAL EXAMINATION OF THE CLASSICAL DIVIDEND POLICY THEORIES IN EU-28 COUNTRIES
Dividend policies and their impact on company value represent a subject which attracted strong academic interest, with many researchers bringing their contributions at solving the discussion based on the standard theory. The main objective of the paper is to revisit the classical dividend theories in the context of the EU-28 countries over a 9 year timeframe (2009-2017) which is an extension of previous studies on the topic over the same geographical zone. The motivation of the study is to identify those factors which determine the dividend decisions for the companies comprised in the sample we used and compare the results to the previous studies on the topic to see whether the classical theories still stand or there are shifts towards other factors. The results of the paper show that the lifecycle theory of dividends together with the pecking order theory and the available cashflow theory are still standing, and that both the accounting and market performance of the company have a significant impact on the level of dividends paid by the company
FOUNDATIONS OF CAPITALIST ECONOMIC THINKING ACCORDING TO MAX WEBER
The research proposed by Max Weber on the beginning of the capitalist economic thinking aims to transcend the appearances and conceptual surfaces that have been consolidated over the founding truths of this thinking. Thus, Weber is interested in the origin and evolution of key concepts in the capitalist economy such as computability, profit, investment, efficiency or economic capitalization. But what preoccupies him most in his studies is the basis of the capitalist economic mentality, the way in which the idea of free initiative and the motivation of its transposition in practice arose, a transposition that is only completely made in the Western civilization, the Orient keeping its openness to economic centralized elements, subject to the political factor. According to Weber, the spirit of capitalism and its economic choices are based on the vein of the Protestant theological thought. From this historical, theological and psychological foundation there is a possible understanding of capitalist economic thinking
Implications of digitalisation on environmental sustainability
In this paper we aim to analyze through the literature, the implications of digitalization on environmental sustainability in the field of production (product design, production, transport and customer service). The analysis of specialized works highlights the following aspects: 1. Digitization in production contributes positively to environmental sustainability by increasing resources and information efficiency as a result of the application of Industry 4.0 technologies throughout the product life cycle; 2. The negative side of digitalisation on the environment is primarily due to increased use of resources and energy, as well as increased waste and emissions from the manufacture, use and disposal of the hardware component (product life cycle). Based on these findings, a product life cycle perspective is proposed, taking into account the environmental impact of both the product life cycle and the technology. Through this study, we identified the key implications of digitizing production on environmental sustainability, raising awareness of both positive and negative impact of digitization, and the need to invest in new digital technologies
