The COVID-19 pandemic has exerted substantial pressure on health systems around the world, and the Romanian medical system, which in the last three decades has faced numerous challenges generated by several factors, such as corruption that has strongly highlighted the disaster generated by the epidemiological context. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the activity of an emergency hospital in north-eastern Romania in a comparative way by analyzing the aspects of the pre-pandemic period compared to the pandemic period, analyzing the activity reports over a period of 6 months. The variables analyzed were the budget used for goods and services, for medicines and sanitary materials and for professional training. The authors examined the data of a total of 12 reports for the chosen period. The authors findings are around the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has not significantly changed the budget allocated to personnel expenditures but has significantly changed the budget allocated to goods and services, the budget allocated for medicines and sanitary materials and the one for the professional training of medical staff. Several economic, financial and social analyses carried out in the next period will support these research hypotheses, anticipating that the effect of COVID-19 will have a long-term impact on the way in which medical services are provided in Romania

    No full text
This paper identifies a number of possibilities for leisure in Bucovina, taking into account the tourist resources it possesses. In order to make the best use of these resources, it is necessary to develop and implement strategies that contribute to the creation of the image, the awareness of the tourist destination and the attraction of tourists throughout the year. From a methodological point of view, qualitative methods were used to obtain information on the elements of Bucovina tourism as well as the essential characteristics for choosing a new holiday destination. The information gathered during this work conveys to tourism decision-makers the idea that the new type of tourist chooses their future holiday on the basis of images, lived experiences (by themselves or other tourists), promises and emotional links between the visitor/tourist and the destination. Some studies show that Bucovina is a preferred destination for tourists even though they spend a relatively short time in the region. In order to retain them for more days, investments are needed to develop the area as a tourist destination on all levels

Sustainability has become widely accepted in tourism as a means of mitigating the negative effects of mass tourism. However, constructing a credible scale in cross-cultural settings is crucial for assessing the outcomes of sustainable tourism. The Sustainable Tourism Attitude Scale (SUS-TAS) in an Albanian and Romanian context is examined in this study, and the local population in both countries is used to collect data. The sample consists of younger people belonging to two age groups: 18-29 years old and 30-39 years old. These segments correspond broadly to Gen. Z and Millennials in the two countries. The sustainable tourism attitude scale (SUS-TAS) is designed to assess the attitudes of local populations toward sustainable tourism development. The study uses a seven-dimensional SUS-TAS model with 37 questions. The findings indicate that the SUS-TAS can be used to ascertain resident attitudes toward sustainable tourism in Albania and Romania. Results show that attitudes are quite similar in most aspects between the two countries

The authors applied an online questionnaire to a non-probabilistic sample of 493 respondents, who had to express their preferences by providing points on a 5-point Likert scale. The main findings of the study reveal that: the cheaper online price is considered, the more respondents evaluate online buying as more convenient. Also the general public tends to present higher levels of pragmatism, browsing books in bookstores and buying them online. As the Romanian book market and in particular the bookstore businesses are barely studied, this paper is worthy for both academic and business environments

Each economic entity is entitled and, at the same time, obliged to monitor its assets that are exposed to a series of flows, which directly contribute to the achievement of the primary objective - profit generation. Financial statements are the basic element that diagnoses the state of economic "health" of an entity, respectively that this assessment is correct, accurate and transparent - those responsible for preparing financial statements must comply with certain rules, instructions, policies, so that this report to generate maximum utility to users, such as shareholders, investors, society, state, etc. In the context of reporting entities in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards, it is important to note that there is both a general standard for the preparation and presentation of financial statements and identifiable information on the minimum required to disclose specific areas depending on the nature of the economic element. IFRS 15 "Revenue from Contracts with Customers" is a relatively new standard and comes with radical provisions for some industries, in terms of revenue recognition-assessment and details on revenue disclosure in the integrated set of financial statements, both on the side of the Profit and Loss Statements, as well as in separate notes intended strictly for income

Abstract From ancient times, wealth and power have been associated with the possession of physical resources. The traditional factors of material, human, monetary production were predominant of a physical nature. Therefore, the need for knowledge was limited. The industrial revolution of past centuries was predominantly based on human physical strength and money capital. A significantly different situation is foreseen for the future. Wealth and power in the 21st century will come primarily from intangible intellectual resources, from the capital of knowledge. The knowledge revolution therefore consists precisely in this transition from the economy dominated by physical, tangible resources, to the economy dominated by knowledge. The process is particularly comprehensive and profound, generating essential changes in all components of economic activities, analogous to those produced by the industrial revolution. We are currently in the early stages of the knowledge revolution. Products and services are more knowledge intensive. Due to this, the delimitation between products and services is becoming more and more difficult. Knowledge tends to become the main feature of activities, more than the resulting products or services. The impact of the knowledge revolution becomes visible in the volatility of the market, the uncertainties regarding the direction of economic activities, the job insecurity felt by people

The pandemic context shows signs of stability. During these complicated times for all, banks were extremely vigilant toward the evolution of the sanitary crisis. Banks came up with quick solutions to protect the health of their colleagues and clients. And they have been open to adapting their strategy to the changing data from the field. This paper analyzes the perception of the involvement of Romanian banks in corporate social responsibility during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study reveals that the activity of banks during the pandemic, evaluated positive to some extent, does not significantly impact the level of trust in the banking system. The findings could guide banks from Romania to better communicate their CSR projects and impact on the community. Despite the difficulties brought by the pandemic, it is natural for banks to take a step forward and think about the way they will define their CSR strategy in the future. Altogether, our findings could help the banking system learn to be even more empathetic and understanding towards clients and to be present in the community. During the pandemic, banks have done much to rehabilitate their reputation, impacted by the previous economic crisis
