Equity Financing, Debt Financing, and Financial Performance in Islamic Banks
No full textThis research aims to determine the effect of bank size (SIZE), profitability (ROA), efficiency (EFF), non-performing finance (NPF), interest (INTR), and inflation (INFL) on profit and loss sharing (PLS) financing (equity financing), and sale-purchase (SP) financing (debt financing) Islamic banks in Indonesia. Furthermore, monthly Islamic bank data in June 2014 to July 2020 was used. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) method was used to determine the short and long-term effects of the independent variables on the financing variable. The results showed that ROA and EFF have a positive effect on MRF but ROA and EFF have a negative effect on MDA and MSF. NPF has a positive effect on MDF, but has a negative effect on MRF. Meanwhile, SIZE has a negative effect on MDF, MDA, MRF, and MRA. The INTR has a negative effect on MDA, MRF, and MRA. The implication of this research is that financialperformance has more influence on debt financing compared to equity financing of Islamic banks in Indonesia
Perilaku Pencarian Informasi Mahasiswa Sastra Inggris Universitas Diponegoro dalam Menyelesaikan Tugas Perkuliahan
No full textThis study aimed to find out how information seeking behavior of English Literature major students from Diponegoro University using internet to completing their college assignments. This study used qualitative method and purposive sampling in selecting informants with semi-structured interview as a data collection. The interview conducted on 12 undergraduate students from Diponegoro University’s English Literature major. This study used thematic analysis in analyzing the data. The results of this study show that undergraduate students from Diponegoro University’s English Literature major need information that can help them completing their college assignments which can be found by conducting information seeking activities. Information seeking activities carried out by these students used internet with sources such as search engine Google, scientific journals sites, downloadable literary works sites, sites that provide information related to literary works, movie streaming apps and social media. Information seeking activities are carried out by determining the sources, seeking information, selecting information, evaluating information, checking the credibility of information, monitoring the development of information and applying it to their college assignments. The problem that students experienced while doing information seeking activities is a certain kinds of information that are difficult to find
The Classical Book of the Abbasid Period as a Reference for Advanced Military Technology: A Thought Genealogy Study
No full textThe most effective metal manufacturing process is double pressing, which is capable of bending metal. The bending of the metal will cause a reaction that can improve its mechanical properties. In the book Al-Jamahir fi ma`rifat al-Jawahir there are three patterns that explain the process methodology, they are; لملك Al mil'k: Tension, الفقلو Al Fiqlu: bending, اإلنفيل Al infial: Reaction. This is in line with the development of the equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP)’s method: if the metal is bent, a reaction will occur which can improve its mechanical properties. In Kitab Al-Hiyal there is a hypothesis of the existence of an attraction in the movement of celestial bodies which is able to provide an explanation of the movement of large forces. Then, another discussion is about the motion of stars and the law of attraction, where there is a force of attraction between celestial bodies. According to the book of Al Hiyal, the greatest force is the earthquake movement which causes a circular rotary force effect, this also underlies the high pressure torsion (HPT) method by PW Bridman who discovered the HPT method with a narrative that HPT is initiated by earthquake movements and in his scientific article explains that the earthquake movement as a torsional motion. In another experimental reference, accumulative roll bonding (ARB) technology is the basis of the material development method which is carried out by stacking plates that are loaded with roll compression loads. Based on the double-edged sword experiment, the zulfikar sword, which is explored by Khabab bin Art as a practitioner and Salman Al Farishi as a drafter, this method has similar procedures for stacking and finalizing the base plate. The development of the Zulfikar sword continued with Al Qashhandi who developed the Damascus sword used by Salahuddin Al Ayubi, from the perspective of the metal plate bending stress originating from the roll compression stress, where there is a deflection of the tip of the plate on the blade. The results of the characterization of the ECAP, HPT and ARB methods show that HPT has superior mechanical properties characterization results compared to other methods, but HPT has limited dimensions which can only be applied to components that have a size of less than 5 cm, with a powder base material. Meanwhile, ECAP and ARB dominate in many applications because they can be applied to large dimensions, as well as the availability of materials and the flexibility of raw materials into application products
Pragmatics Principles of English Teachers in Islamic Elementary School
Get PDFThis qualitative study presents the research results on Pragmatics politeness in the language of English teachers in Islamic elementary schools. The problem formulation of this research focuses on what and how Pragmatics politeness is in the language of English teachers in Islamic elementary schools. The objectives of this study are (i) to describe the form of Pragmatics speech in the language of English teachers; (ii) to describe the tools used in using Pragmatics politeness in the teacher's language, English. The research approach used is qualitative research. Data were collected from various communication events in teaching English in the classroom between teachers and students by participating in observation techniques, note-taking/recording techniques, and interviews. Structurally, the various sub-illocutions were delivered with one core speech unit alone or with a combination of core speech (TI) and supporting speech units (TD) in the form of asking questions, commanding acts, and opening speech units (TB) in the form of greetings. Pragmatics politeness speech acts of English teachers and students are generally expressed in imperative sentences (active and passive), declarative sentences, and interrogative sentences. Second, the tools of Pragmatics politeness in the language of English teachers in Islamic elementary schools found in the speech of the teaching process can function as an action stimulator, a request for approval of the action, an invitation.Keywords: Politeness, Pragmatics, Islamic elementary school

Get PDFDa'wah method in teaching Islamic values can at least occur using two approaches, namely Islamization of Javanese culture and Jawanize Islam. The walisongo in carrying out his da'wah using the approach to the Jawanize Islam, no exception Sunan Kalijaga. In carrying out his da'wah duties, Sunan Kalijaga always uses local culture as a media da'wah. Many cultural-based works were triggered by Sunan Kalijaga, one of which was Kidung Rumekso Ing Wengi. This is a poem with the theme of the teachings of Islam using Javanese. Using a qualitative research method can be obtained by several conclusions. Some of the results of the study are that the song is a means of teaching to the community to always remember God. In addition, the song has two core da'wah messages. The first is to teach to be sure of God and secondly teaches to be able to establish a good relationship with each other. And the third result is that the appointment included in the song is the hope of being a figure in the song in accordance with the special thing on the character
THE ROLE OF JOB SATISFACTION AS A MEDIATION VARIABLE ON THE INFLUENCE OF WORK LIFE BALANCE, ISLAMIC WORK ETHICS AND BURNOUT ON TURNOVER INTENTION
Get PDFThis study aims to influence of work life balance, Islamic work ethics and burnout on employee turnover intention at PT Karya Toha Putra Semarang through job satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study uses quantitative methods by processing primary data through a questionnaire given to 104 respondents to the employee of PT Toha Karya Putra Semarang. Purposive sampling technique in sampling. The data was collected using a questionnaire and the data was processed using SPSS 26. Data analysis in this study used the classical assumption test, hypothesis test and path analysis test. The results showed that work life balance had a significant and negative effect on turnover intention, Islamic work ethics had a significant and positive effect on turnover intention, burnout had a significant and positive effect on turnover intention, work life balance had a significant and positive effect on job satisfaction, Islamic work ethics had an effect significant and positive on job satisfaction, burnout has a significant and negative effect on job satisfaction, job satisfaction has a significant and negative effect on turnover intention, job satisfaction is able to mediate the effect between work life balance and turnover intention, job satisfaction is able to mediate the influence between Islamic work ethics with turnover intention, job satisfaction is able to mediate the influence between burnout and turnover intention. Entrepreneurship education from the perspective of law and Islam
No full textEntrepreneurship education is a concept that must be socialized on a large scale. This is stated in Presidential Regulation 5 of 2010 concerning the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). The study in this article covers the concept of entrepreneurship education in general, and the practices carried out by the famous Islamic figure, the Prophet Muhammad, and his companions. It will guide entrepreneurs to stick to the values of previous Muslim entrepreneurs. This article aims to explain the concept of entrepreneurship education and what has been done by the Prophet Muhammad and his companions. The methodology used in this research is library research. The approach used is historical and content analysis toproduce a broad and contextual picture. The stages of this method are collecting primary sources that are thematic and then reinforced with secondary sources and contextualizing. The findings in this paper about the values of entrepreneurship education in general at the Ministry of National Education are Independent, Creative, Dare to Take Risks, Action Oriented, Leadership, Hard Work, Honesty, Discipline, Innovativeness, Responsibility, Cooperation, Never Giving Up, tenacious, Commitment, Realistic, Curiosity, Communicative, Strong motivation to succeed. The Quraysh had practiced the spirit of entrepreneurship education, as did Hasyim bin 'Abdul Manaf, which the Prophet then practiced from an early age to adulthood, and his closest friends who became successful entrepreneurs, such as Abdurrahman bin Auf.
Harmonization of Islam and human rights: judges’ legal arguments in rejecting child marriage dispensation in Sukadana, Indonesia
No full textThis article analyzes the rejection of an application for child marriage dispensation at the Sukadana Religious Court, Indonesia. Normatively, building a family and preserving the lineage are human rights, but the judges reject the application for the marriage dispensation. This normative research used observation, interviews, and documentation to collect data. In rejecting the marriage dispensation, the Religious Court judges used two arguments: normative (fiqh rules) and juridical (regulations related to human rights). The legal arguments integrate Islamic values (benefits and avoiding disgrace) with human rights principles. They seek to protect the petitioners' human rights, especially children's rights. From the finding above, the researchers suggest that there is no conflict between Islam and human rights. Both harmonize in their value of protecting the citizens. This study has implications for the increased unregistered marriages that do not have legality
Islamic Versus Conventional Monetary Transmission: Which One Is Better Affecting Exchange Rate?
No full textThis study examined the impact of Islamic monetary and conventional transmissions on Indonesia's exchange rate performance. The Islamic monetary transmissions are musyarakah financing (proxied by the ratio of musyarakah to a total loan of conventional banks) and corporate sukuk (asset price), while the conventional transmission is the interbank interest rate (INTERB). Furthermore, this paper also incorporated gold price (GP) (asset price transmission) as a control variable. This study used monthly data from February 2011 to September 2021. By using the ARDL Bound Test, the long run results showed that the performance of Islamic monetary transmission through musyarakah financing has more effect of exchanging rate than INTERB. Therefore, Bank Indonesia should focus on musyarakah financing as its monetary transmission instead of INTERB. In the short run, corporate sukuk and musyarakah financing impact the exchange rate (10% and 1% significant level, respectively), while INTERB and GP can affect the exchange rate with lag (second month onward for each)
Presupposition in The Mystery and Thriller Film of “Escape from Pretoria"
Get PDFPresupposition itself has been a cause of the diversity of interpretations since presupposition sticks to utterances, sometimes unsaid clearly, that will provide implied meanings based on the context that is being talked about. The purposes of the study are to investigate three major points: the kinds of presupposition, their functions, and the percentage of each presupposition in the mystery and thriller film script of “Escape from Pretoria” by Francis Annan. This research used a qualitative method to analyze the obtained data. The observation is also used to collect data in which data are obtained from film scripts. The writer applies Yule’s theory (1996) to analyze the presupposition kinds, Halliday’s theory (2003) to analyze presupposition functions, and Subana’s formula to gain the percentage of each presupposition. As a result, there were 177 presuppositions obtained in the film script, with 166 existential presuppositions (93.8%), six factive presuppositions (3.4%), four lexical presuppositions (2.2%,) and one counterfactual presupposition (0.6%). From 177 presuppositions, the data were classified into 23 regulatory functions (13.0%), 2 interactional functions (1.1%), 57 representational functions (32.2%), 79 personal functions (44.6%), 1 imaginative function (0.6%), 4 instrumental functions (2.3%) and 11 heuristic functions (6.2%).
