Strengthening the Fabric: Federalism, Decentralisation, and India\u27s Healthcare Imperative
The Indian federal structure has been shaped by a history of central planning and concentration of power at the federal level. This concentration of power has left state and local government in a subsidiary position. The healthcare and social policy literatures stress that a number of aspects of a federal system can influence and constrain the public healthcare system, namely, multiple veto points, interregional tax competition, and regional jurisdictions. This paper delves into the intricate relationship between federalism, decentralisation, and India\u27s healthcare landscape. Against the backdrop of a diverse and complex healthcare system, it examines the imperative for effective governance structures in addressing the nation\u27s healthcare challenges. By analysing the distribution of responsibilities between the central and state governments, the paper explores how federalism shapes healthcare policies, resource allocation, and service delivery across India\u27s vast and heterogeneous population. Ultimately, this paper offers insights and recommendations to inform policy discourse and drive transformative reforms towards achieving universal healthcare coverage and improving health outcomes for all citizens
Pre- and Post-Disinvestment Performance Evaluation of State-Owned Utility Sector Enterprises in India: The Way Forward
The consensus in recent times is that state-owned firms are not as profitable as their private counterparts. Therefore, disinvestment policies are put in place to decrease the government\u27s involvement in the economy and encourage private sector participation to increase the performance of firms. The present study examines the profitability, financial performance, and operating performances of state-owned utility sector firms in India that were successively disinvested through public offering mode from 2011 to 2020. Using a sample of the top ten utility sector firms listed in the National Stock Exchange, in 2023, the firm performance is assessed through a range of financial ratios, including return on equity return on sales, return on assets, sales efficiency, net income efficiency, and leverage. The Wilcoxon rank test compares the firms\u27 before and after disinvestment performance.
Panel data techniques have been used to evaluate the impact of disinvestment on performance indicators. The findings show a significant enhancement in the financial performance of the sample firms, while there is an insignificant change in profitability and operating performance. The current study provides new empirical findings on how ownership reforms through disinvestment have affected the performance of state-owned utility sector firms in India
Promoting Performance Information Use in Government Analytics
Governmental bodies have the potential to enhance their service quality and internal operations through the utilization of government analytics. However, the mere presence of government analytics does not guarantee its utilization. This article summarizes a book chapter titled "Measuring and Encouraging Performance Information Use in Government" by Donald Moynihan, who holds the McCourt Chair at the McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown University. The chapter published in "The Government Analytics Handbook: Leveraging Data to Strengthen Public Administration" (Pages 121-130) explores methods for governments to evaluate the effectiveness of government analytics, essentially analyzing the use of such analytics within the government. The focus is mainly on one crucial aspect of government analytics: performance management systems
Exploring Parents’ Attitude to Subscribe to the Ed-tech Services: Evidence from India
There have been numerous Educational Technology (Ed-Tech) companies investing in the Online Teaching & Learning ecosystem in the last few years. Parents play a significant role in making academic decisions for their kids. However, the peer pressure of kids, the educational background of parents, and the academic performance of wards would play an essential role in intending to subscribe to Ed-tech services. The research design is based on a self-administered questionnaire is developed to collect data from the parents of school-going students of the age between 10 years to 16 years. Convenience sampling was used to manage the data from 208 samples. The findings of the study showed that parents’ awareness of ed-tech (PAE), wards’ peer influence (WPI), and academic performance of ward (APW) significantly affect attitude towards ed-tech (ATE), whereas peer influence of parents (PIP) has no significant impact on their attitude towards ed-tech. The study will help stakeholders make online learning platforms more effective, engaging, and reachable. Existing literature contributes regarding the digital facility, and satisfaction of online learning. However, very limited research has been done in the area of parents’ subscribing attitude to Ed-tech services
Pakistan’s Security Dynamics and Nuclear Weapons: Editors: Shalini Chawla and Rajiv Nayan
Pakistan’s nuclear thinking, doctrine, and posture are critical for Indian policymakers and the international security community. For Pakistan, nuclear arsenals are rationalised as an ultimate guarantee of security, a deterrent to Indian conventional military superiority, and an umbrella to pursue a proxy war through terrorism. The book, Pakistan’s Security Dynamics and Nuclear Weapons, co-edited by Dr. Shalini Chawla and Dr. Rajiv Nayan is an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s intricate security dynamics from a large number of experts in a wide range of disciplines. The book is divided into three sections with a number of chapters in each section covering the overarching theme of the section
The Future of Globalization: Adapting to Evolving Economic Realities
Over the past few decades, globalization has been a prevailing trend in the world economy, fostering increased interconnectedness and interdependence among nations through trade, investment, exchanging goods and services, information, and ideas. The relationship between globalization and the supply chain has grown in tandem, mutually reinforcing each other\u27s growth. However, recent years have witnessed headwinds challenging the former\u27s trajectory.
While globalization has yielded economic growth, poverty reduction, and enhanced access to goods and services, it has also faced criticisms for widening inequality, environmental degradation, and social disruptions. This article examines the "future of globalization", especially in light of geopolitical tensions, trade disputes, and the US-China technology competition, which have sparked debates about its continuity. Furthermore, it explores the transformative governance necessary to adapt to evolving economic realities

Southeast Asia has substantial potential for developing a comprehensive battery value chain, thanks to its rich reserves of critical mineral resources and the keen interest of global industry leaders in establishing local manufacturing capabilities. Notably, numerous downstream players, both domestic and international, engaged in cathode and cell production have expressed a strong desire to develop manufacturing facilities within the region. Some noteworthy examples include VinES in Vietnam, LG, CATL, and POSCO in Indonesia, EVE in Malaysia, and DuraPower, Energy Absolute, and Gotion in Thailand (as illustrated in Exhibit 1)
Integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Classroom Teaching for Improving English Pronunciation: An Experimental Study
In India, English is treated as an alien language. As a result, students need help to learn how to pronounce words correctly in foreign languages. Accurate pronunciation helps to develop an individual’s social skills by building confidence to speak correctly. Although schools play a fundamental role in teaching English pronunciation, formal phonics training is given only at the pre-primary level in school. After that, the students learn the rest of the phonics by imitating their teachers or elders. The building of an inclusive atmosphere in the classroom through information and communication technology is emphasized in the new National Education Policy in 2020. It promotes the utilization of technology to aid in the improvement of pronunciation. This covers both the usage of online pronunciation programs and the tracking and evaluation of pronunciation using voice recognition tools powered by artificial intelligence. Students who utilize online dictionaries may learn more about the value of proper pronunciation and acquire the skills necessary to do so.
Furthermore, NEP 2020 emphasizes correct pronunciation in language teaching, and it has the potential to have a global impact as it encourages students to educate themselves on the importance of pronunciation in language learning. The paper analyzes the English pronunciation of undergraduate students of the Faculty of Management Studies and the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at Ganpat University. It emphasizes the necessity of enhancing pronunciation to improve reading and speaking abilities. The study is based on pre-experiment and post-experiment analysis. Data is analyzed using various statistical tests to compare a student\u27s pronunciation improvement before and after applying accent-enhancing procedures

Data Localization For Data Centers
There is a new saying that data is gold for this generation. The foundation of the digital economy is entirely dependent on data. To organize, manage, store, and process the data, a specialized facility known as a data center is adopted by companies. Data localization, in simple terms, is a compliance process of restricting data flow from one country of origin to another. Today, 75% of all nations have deployed data localization rules at varying levels. These restrictions significantly impact data governance, IT footprints, data architectures, and interactions with local regulators. So, let’s understand what data localization brings with it for data centers.
