Prince Albert Jackson Jr.; Dr. Prince A. Jackson, Jr.
Dr. Prince A. Jackson served as the seventh president of Savannah State College from 1971 to 1978. He was the second alumnus to become president of Savannah State College.
At the time of his appointment, Dr. Jackson served as Chairperson of the Division of Natural Sciences and Director of the Institutional Self Study, which resulted in reaccreditation of the College by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in December, 1971. During that same year the College was accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The three engineering technology programs--- civil, electronics, and mechanical --- were accredited by the Engineer’s Council for Professional Development in 1973

Drew-Griffith Building
The Drew-Griffith building, built in 1871, was named for Dr. Booker T. Griffith and Dr. Charles L. Drew. This building serves as space for classrooms, laboratories, and offices for the College of Science and Technology

Miss Savannah State is voted in by classmates to reign as the queen based on skills, qualities and talents.The inception of establishing a queen for the university derived from a need to raise funds for student campus social events. The process of selecting the queen encouraged students to participate in having a fundraiser for the college

Bowen-Smith Hall
Sylvia E. Bowen and Lula Smith Residence Hall was built in 1971. Bowen was a former mathematics teacher at Savannah State College and Smith was a 1901 graduate of the Georgia State Industrial College, the second coed graduating class. As of 2015, the building serves as a residence hall for women
