Clyde Woodrow Hall
Dr. Clyde W. Hall served as acting president of Savannah State College 1978 – 1980. Hall developed A Plan for the Desegregation of Savannah State College for the desegregation of Savannah State College. The Fourth Segment of a Plan to Further Desegregate the University System of Georgia was approved by the Board of Regents and incorporated parts of his plan. Subsequently, the Business Administration program of Armstrong State College and the Teacher’s education program at Savannah State College were exchanged. Marine Biology and Environmental studies programs were authorized to offer a bachelor’s degree.

Miss Savannah State is the queen that represents the University at social service organizations, campus wide and community events.
Miss Savannah State is voted in by classmates to reign as the queen based on skills, qualities and talents.
The inception of establishing a queen for the university derived from a need to raise funds for student campus social events. The process of selecting the queen encouraged students to participate in having a fundraiser for the college
