The Misaki festival and teh religious Masks of Kori Village in Sata district of Minami-Osumi Town
Get PDFapplication/pdfIn each February, the Misaki festival is held in the Sata district (former Sata Town) of Minami-Osumi Town, Kimotsuki County, Kagoshima Prefecture. This is a spring festival of Misaki-jinja (Misaki Shinto shrine) enshrined in the Cape Sata where is the southernmost point of Osumi Peninsula, Kyushu. In this festival there is "Hama-kudari (descending of God to beach)" ritual.This is the parade, in which those living in Sata district carry a Mikoshi portable shrine from Misaki-jinja to the Chikatsunomiya-jinja (Chikatsunomiya Shinto shrine) at the Kori village located approximately 20 kilos away from. When the Mikoshi portable shrine arrive at the Kori village, local children put on a face wood mask greet it. This greeting ritual is very interesting because these masks are religious tools, and represent of local gods. There were a number of masks in the Chikatsunomiya-jinja for the ritual, but unfortunately these were stolen by someone. In this paper, I shall analysis the pictures of lost masks and introduce some speculations about the religious mask culture of the Kori village in the Sata district.論文(Article)departmental bulletin pape

A consideration on the current state of child care facilities and problems of social independence : scholastic support in child care facilities
Get PDFOur country's welfare policy for children who need social care is based on helping children to be independent in the future. While most of the child care facilities focus on teaching children common sense and good habits, they do not do enough on preparing them to be independent when they grow up. Due to the children living in the care facilities they couldn't get the appropriate nurturing environment so they often have troubles regarding their mental well-being and physical health. Instead of prioritizing nurturing support, scholastic support and entrance into a higher education should be given priority. On the other hand, to master a basic scholastic ability helps to increase self confidence. This benefits school life which leads them to a better life. Getting into a college does this as well. The new view of scholastic ability, which emphasizes the zest of living, brings the relationship between scholastic ability and social independence closer. Jack London's theory of yellow peril, referring to the history of the yellow peril
Get PDFThe challenge, issue, and problem of yellow peril still remains in the present world. President Trump is advocating "America first." The threat against China is expanding, so America has started a trade war. However, the time when the threat against China was the most prevalent in the common popular history of the United States was that of Jack London. And Jack London gave the impetus. Jack London wrote the essay "The Yellow Peril." But there is a big difference between American yellow peril and European yellow peril, and the yellow peril turned only to Japan or China. This paper is analyzing the differences between American yellow peril and European yellow peril. And why Jack London became a race biased-writer. This cause was mainly because of his mother, his society and himself. As he understood China, London changed his racism against the Chinese. "The Yellow Peril" is from blind race bias of the threat against China. Because there is his constant trial of understanding, he could write "The Yellow Peril". When we see Jack London's last Chinese novel, we can find his understanding of the Chinese became quite deep. Therefore he could write about China fairly.
I suggest a lack of understanding is one of the causes of prejudice. When each one deepens his or her understanding, the race bias will become weak, just like the case of Jack London.論文(Article)departmental bulletin pape
