Farmers' Level of Knowledge of Financial Management in Rabbit Farming Businesses
Get PDFThe rabbit farming business is used as income for business sustainability and development and has the potential to be developed. Knowledge of financial management is important for farmers to manage their rabbit farms efficiently and obtain productive credit. Financial management in the livestock sector becomes very important if finance helps introduce important technologies that affect productivity in a timely manner The research aims to determine the level of knowledge of rabbit breeders in managing business finances. Data analysis uses the levels financial services authority is well literate, sufficient literate, less literate and not literate. The results show that financial management is in the < 60% category, which means the individual has category low financial knowledge is less literate. This shows that farmers' knowledge regarding financial management is still very low. This can be seen that the skills or abilities of breeders in financial management are still low. The ability to absorb new technology and business development in the global market for small and medium scale farms will be hampered if skills in management and simple financial management practices are respectively low. This is something that can hinder obtaining business financing

Get PDFThis study aims to determine the factors that encourage farmers in switch form cocoa farming to corn farming. The informants used in this study were farmers from Kebo Village, Lilirilau District, Soppeng Regency, who carried out the conversion of cocoa farming land into corn farming. In this study, the determination of informants was carried out using a purposive sampling technique where 15 farmers were selected intentionally based on predetermined criteria and were determined based on the research objectives. As for the criteria and informants appointed or selected in this study were informants who changed the function of cocoa farming land into corn farming.The results of this study indicate that the factors that influence the conversion of cocoa farming land into corn farming in Kebo Village, Lilirilau District, Soppeng Regency, namely economic factors and social factors which consist of several factors, namely production factors, price factors, pest and disease factors, infrastructure factors, culture and secondary need

Get PDFThe P2KP program is a guideline for increasing food consumption based on local wisdom, collaboration between the community and the government. The problem of serious food insecurity will affect people in both developed and developing countries. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact that disrupts access to fresh food, providing nutrition at affordable prices. Optimization of the use of the yard is carried out through community empowerment efforts to optimize the use of the yard as a source of food andfamily nutrition. This research was conducted by members of the women's group of orchid farmers in Bulu Kamase Village, South Sinjai District, Sinjai Regency using purposive sampling. The population in this study were members of the Orchid KWT, amounting to 35 people, so that in this study the entire population was used as the research sample. The scope of this research is the Sustainable Food House program, especially on the types of vegetable crops in the gardens of members of the Orchid KWT. This study uses descriptive analysis method to determine the level of implementation and optimization of the RPL program. The results of the research are that the optimization of the Sustainable Food House program is influenced by counseling, the availability of production facilities, and the involvement of KWT members in the program. The higher the level of counseling, it can affect the optimization of the use of community yard land to obtain an overview of the benefits of yard land management in food security and meeting the nutritional needs of the community
Determinants of South Africa’s agri-food export performance: Gravity model approach
Get PDFThe central aim of this study was to investigate the determinants of South Africa's export growth and the challenges associated with agri-food products. To satisfactorily achieve this central aim, two specific objectives were set and addressed differently in this research work. Porter’s Diamond framework was followed to identify factors that influence the export performance of South Africa’s agri-food products, thereby identifying major challenges and opportunities for sustained growth, and the gravity model was applied to examine the main factors influencing South Africa’s agri-food exports to its major trading partners in Africa for the period 1996–2017. The study analyzed and interpreted the results using both primary and secondary data. The study aimed to pinpoint the elements that impact the export performance of South Africa's agri-food products, thereby pinpointing significant obstacles and prospects for long-term expansion. We collected primary data using a structured questionnaire, randomly selecting and interviewing 117 out of 137 respondents. The findings revealed that a scarcity of skilled labor, the expense of skilled labor, the availability of electricity, the cost of raw materials, the cost of advanced technology, transportation expenses, scientific research institutions, pricing, tariffs, language barriers, and crime are the primary barriers to the exportation of agri-food by South African firms. The researcher used 28 countries as export markets to examine factors influencing South Africa's agri-food exports, and the results showed that the size of the economy, geographical proximity, and currency devaluation had a huge effect on exports of agri-food products
Maternal Labor Force Participation and Multidimensional Child Poverty in Least-Developed Countries in Southeast Asia
Get PDFChild poverty is a multidimensional phenomenon, and maternal labor force participation may mitigate children’s poverty status. This study explores the effects of maternal labor force participation on multidimensional poverty among children under five years of age in three Southeast Asian countries: Cambodia, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste. Using Demographic and Health Survey datasets, the estimated results of coarsened exact matching revealed that maternal labor force participation significantly reduced the number of deprivation dimensions and the probability of being in severe multidimensional poverty. The impacts on multidimensional child poverty are insignificant between all years of employment and the seasonal/occasional employment status of mothers
The Impact of the Price Factor on Farmers' Incomes in Turbulent Conditions
Get PDFFarmers face various types of risks that affect their behavioural strategies and well-being. In 2022, the main problem was the rapid and uncontrolled acceleration of inflation in the markets of raw materials, energy and food products. Farmers have faced price volatility in food, raw materials and energy. The purpose of the article was to analyse the impact of the price factor on farmers' incomes, including the total impact of prices on manufactured products and energy carriers. The regression-based analysis showed the negative nature of such an impact, which requires increased state support for farm income during the crisis period. As a result of the study, we proposed to reorient government support from simple subsidies to incentives for farmers to produce bioenergy from waste. This measure will increase farmers' energy independence, reduce income dependence on rising energy prices, and increase the efficiency of public spending
