    Get PDF
A cikk bevezetője áttekinti azokat a szempontokat, amelyeket a biológus kutatók fogalmaznak meg a madártollak hajlékonysági tulajdonságai vizsgálatára vonatkozóan. Ebből következik a kutatás célja: számszerűen meghatározni a partifecskék szélső faroktollának hajlékonysági tulajdonságait. DOI: 10.17489/biohun/2014/1/0

    Get PDF
A cikk első felében a rendelkezésre álló szakirodalom alapján bemutatjuk a tapintás – mechanikai rezgések érzékelésének szempontjából – fontos tulajdonságait, illetve az érzékelést befolyásoló tényezőket, és ezek hatásait. A kutatás eredményeként elmondható, hogy a bőr érző receptorain keresztül összetett információ közlésére van lehetőség, ami indokolttá teszi egy, az elterjedt rezgéskeltőkhöz képest fejlettebb eszköz alkalmazását, melyet a cikk második fele mutat be. A kettős excenteres rezgéskeltő eszközzel lehetőség nyílik egymástól független frekvenciájú és amplitúdójú rezgések létrehozására. DOI: 10.17489/biohun/2014/1/0

Development of adhesion test for coated medical device

    Get PDF
High biocompatibility is a basic requirement in medical technology. Polymer coatings can radically improve medical device biocompatibility, especially for surfaces like stainless steel. Adhesion is an important quality in a coating, and this was our rationale for developing a polymer adhesion testing protocol. We compared two biocompatible polymers, polyurethane (PUR) and poly-(DL-lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PDLG). Polymer layers were created on surface-treated stainless steel. The properties of different layers were compared. Adhesion of the coatings was characterised by concentration of coating solution, rate of the contacted surface and surface roughness of the carriers. PUR showed better adhesion under our test conditions.  DOI: 10.17489/biohun/2013/1/3

Biomechanical evaluation of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty by uniaxial compressive test

    Get PDF
In vertebroplasty, by injecting cement into the fractured osteoporotic vertebra, the cement can leak into the surrounding soft tissues. To avoid this injurious side-effect, in kyphoplasty a suitable place is previously prepared for the cement, by an inflated and removed balloon. In this study the biomechanical evaluation of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty is presented by comparing the strength, stiffness and deformability of post-operated vertebrae by using uniaxial compressive mechanical test. As for conclusion, mechanical properties following vertebroplasty are more sensitive to initial bone density than after kyphoplasty, however, both techniques give practically the same failure load, vertebroplasty yields larger stiffness and smaller compressive deformability.  DOI: 10.17489/biohun/2013/1/3

Bevezetés: A Szent János Kórház Ortopéd-Traumatológiai Osztályán az UmRSA marker alapúradiosztereometriai családba tartozó analitikai módszer használatával 2009-ben kezdődött megaz all-poly és fémtálcás térdízületi endoprotézis beültetések migrációjának korai és késői utánkövetése.A cikk célja a korai eredményeik összefoglalása.Anyag és módszer: A térdízületi endoprotézis beültetés 5 esetben - 4 all-poly, 1 fémtálcás protézissel- a hagyományos műtéti technikával történt. A vizsgált protézisek környezetébe, valamintaz insertbe tantalum jelzőgolyókat lőttünk. A műtétet követően 3, 6, 12 havonta, ezt követőenévente végeztünk marker alapú radiosztereometriai vizsgálatot. Az UmRSA rendszerhez kifejlesztettfeldolgozó programok segítségével határoztuk meg a térdízületi protézisek migrációjáta tér mindhárom irányába.Eredmények: Az all-poly komponensek átlagos éves térbeli elmozdulása 0,0676 mm, a fémtálcásé0,2143 mm, ami megfelel a nemzetközi adatoknak. A kétféle tibialis komponens háromdimenziósmigrációja esetében csak a fémtálcás komponensnél tapasztaltunk cranialis és mediáliselmozdulást.Következtetés: A tibialis komponens migrációjának vizsgálatánál eredményeink korrelálnak anemzetközi irodalommal. A kétféle tibialis komponens 3D migrációjának jellegzetességei közöttlényeges különbségek lehetnek. DOI: 10.17489/biohun/2013/2/03The authors carry out radiostereometric measurements since 2006 at Szent János Hospital, Budapest. The follow-up study started in 2009 to investigate the migration of all-polyethylene and metal-backed tibial components in total knee arthroplasty. Authors publish below their early results from the fi rst three years.   Materials and method. Total knee arthroplasty is performed in the traditional surgical technique. Markers are then shut with a special pistol into the bone of distal femur, proximal tibia and the polyethylene insert – 5–8 each, altogether 12–16 pieces. Radiostereometric examination is performed postoperatively and 3, 6, 12, 24, 36 months after surgery with a special biplanar frame. X-ray fi lms are then scanned, and evaluated by a digital programme made especially for UmRSA, called DIRSA (Digital Interactive Roentgen Stereometric Analysis). 3D migration have been calculated in 5 cases till now – 4 all-poly, 1 metal-backed.   Results. Mean annual migration by all-poly components is 0.0676 mm, by metal backed tibial component 0.2143 mm, which suits international data. We found signifi cant difference in the metal-backed tibial component’s 3D migration patterns compared to all-poly components’. Conclusion. The early fi ndings for tibial component migration suits the international data.   Increasing the number of cases – especially by metal-backed measurements – is needed for further investigation of the migration characteristics of the two types of components

The new processing of the results of examinations made with Zebris WIN-SPINE spine-measuring method and its validation

    Get PDF
Aim: The Zebris spine-examination system and the associated measurement control program determine the spatial coordinates of processus spinosuses. Our processing program calculates kyphosis, lordosis and scoliosis values from the measurement data similarly to Cobb method. The aim of our research is to clarify whether the angle values determined from the X-ray results of young schoolchildren suffering from scoliosis by Cobb method differ from the values calculated from the spatial coordinates of processus spinosuses. Methods: In the case of 25 children suffering from scoliosis two-way full spine X-rays in standing position on 31 occasions were taken, in accordance with the professional standards. On the basis of the photographs the thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis and scoliosis values were determined with Cobb method. While the children were in standing position, ultrasound-based spine examinations was performed with a WINSPINE measuring software developed specially for the Zebris CMS-HS measuring system.  From the spatial coordinates of processus spinosuses the same angle values with our self-developed Excel processing program according to the principles of Cobb method were calculated. The degree of scoliosis was evaluated in the dorsal and in the lumbar section separately. The relationship between the two measurements was indicated by the Pearson correlation. Results: From the comparison of the results of the two different measurement methods it was concluded that the correlation was strong between the values of the dorsal kyphosis and the lumbar lordosis (rkyphosis=0.80 rlordosis=0.94) while the correlation between the scoliosis values of the dorsal and lumbar sections was moderate (rthoracic scoliosis= 0.67 rlumbar scoliosis= 0.73). Conclusion: The sagittal curvatures calculated with our self-developed software from the spatial coordinates of processus spinosuses which were determined with the CMS-HS ultrasound-based motion analysing system, show a strong correlation with the values calculated from X-rays using Cobb technique. The accurate assessment of the degree of scoliosis can only be done with an X-ray. Values defined with motion analysing measurements without exposure to radiation in the terms between X-rays performed regularly as specified in the professional recommendations can give satisfactory information about the possible trend of changes.  DOI: 10.17489/biohun/2013/1/0
