Coherent photoproduction of J/ψ mesons in ultraperipheral Pb–Pb collisions at CMS

    Get PDF
In this contribution, we briefly describe the CMS results on J/ψ photoproduction in Pb–Pb collisions, in which the coherent J/ψ photoproduction cross section as a function of the photon-nucleus center-of-mass energy (WγN^Pb) was measured up to 400 GeV. The cross section is observed to plateau above WγN^Pb ≈ 40 GeV and up to 400 GeV, accessing very small Bjorken-x values of ≈ 6 × 10⁻⁵

Recent results from ultra-peripheral lead-lead collisions with ATLAS

Relativistic heavy-ion beams at the LHC are accompanied by a large flux of equivalent photons, leading to multiple photon-induced processes. This report presents a series of measurements of such processes performed by the ATLAS Collaboration. Measurements of exclusive dilepton production (electron, muon, and tau pairs) are discussed. These processes provide strong constraints on the nuclear photon flux and its dependence on the impact parameter and photon energy. In particular, measurements of the cross-sections in the presence of forward neutrons provide an additional experimental handle on the impact parameter range sampled in the observed events. Furthermore, the tau-pair production measurements can constrain the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of the tau lepton. High statistics measurements of light-by-light scattering shown in this talk provide a precise and unique opportunity to investigate extensions of the Standard Model, such as the presence of axion-like particles. The measurement of charged hadron in photonuclear collisions using 5.02 TeV Pb+Pb data collected in 2018 by ATLAS is also discussed. The charged hadron particle yields are presented as a functions of pseudorapidity and transverse momentum in different categories of event multiplicity. Measurement of jet production in ultra-peripheral collisions performed with the ATLAS detector using high-statistics 2018 Pb+Pb data is presented

Disparities in Response to the All of Us Research Program COVID-19 Participant Experience (COPE) Survey

    Get PDF
This study demonstrated the successful longitudinal recruitment of a large number of diverse participants to the COPE survey in a very short time, empowered by the All of Us Research Program, its infrastructure, and databases. Despite the disparity of response rates across demographic groups, the data collected in the COPE surveys will enable researchers to investigate how the pandemic differentially affects diverse populations and their health status across the United States. Additionally, the findings highlight the need for future research aimed at improving response rates among underrepresented groups, ensuring the All of Us Research Program achieves its goals of diversity and inclusivity in research

A Content Analysis of Interscholastic Sport Management Research

    Get PDF
Despite nearly 8 million participants, and millions more stakeholders in the form of parents, administrators, and coaches, interscholastic sport research is scarce. To determine the scope of existing interscholastic sport research the current study investigated all sport management journals listed on the NSSM list of Journals Serving the Community of Sport Management Scholarship. results indicated that of the 37,107 journal articles on the NASSM list 931 focused on some aspect of interscholastic sport. When removing 505 medical studies and 78 law studies, the number of sport-specific studies totaled 348, which is less than 1% of all sport management publications. Although results demonstrate research growth from the 1970s to 2024, particularly in the amount of qualitative research, the scale of research is strikingly small. Fortunately, most existing research focuses on the participants at a developmentally impactful time of their lives, and newer journals appear to welcome interscholastic inquiry.
