    Get PDF
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze consumer eating patterns through the emergence of COVID-19, and explain the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Meal Kit industry. Through the utilization of qualitative and quantitative analysis, the paper will apply source material to the research question. The research question for this study is: “How did COVID-19\u27s emergence impact the Meal Kit industry?” An overarching theme is social behaviors adaptation. Adaptations occurred as a result of COVID-19\u27s emergence. The qualitative data suggests the behaviors correlated with the strengths and weaknesses of the Meal Kit industry. A key finding revealed in the research was that COVID-19\u27s emergence caused more cooking at home, which increased the value of the Meal Kit’s offerings. The implication of this thesis moving forward is that it can be used as a reference once the COVID-19 pandemic ends, to conduct further study into its impacts on the Meal Kit industry

    Astral Projections II

    No full text
Astral Projections II by Islam Aly is an artistic exploration of talismanic shirts and their mystical significance. The book features seven shirts intricately illustrated with cyanotype prints, blending religious texts, sacred symbols, and seal markings. The blue-toned cyanotype process gives the shirts an ethereal quality, enhancing their spiritual connection. The covers, also designed with constellations and stars, tie the celestial to the spiritual themes in the book. The accordion binding allows the entire book to unfold, offering a full view of the shirts, creating an immersive visual experience that highlights the mysticism behind these garments.https://scholarship.rollins.edu/book_arts/1161/thumbnail.jp

    Girls Vs. Books

Defacing a library book can be seen as a subversive act of vandalism, but in Girls vs. Books, this behavior seems to be about more than just working through the boredom of youth. Through her photographs of books defaced by girls, Press captures the joy and defiance of imaginative and active female readers engaged in a dialogue with the books they are reading. Many book artists also engage in this kind of back-and-forth when they alter an existing book to create a work of art. Through the intimacy of these photographs, readers of Girls vs. Books can connect with the readers of these original titles by examining the unique marks they left behind. As Press states, these marks were made by “women who didn’t think twice about violating the sanctity of the printed page with their own editorializations. Several of the (known) defacers grew up to be writers, editors and artists themselves.” Girls vs. Books is an artist’s book made from my Storied Books photographic series about vernacular altered books. My edition echoes its subject matter: I constructed it by cutting up and rebinding commercially-printed books of my photos and then titling them with rubber stamps. — Sara L. Pist Protta 116

50th anniversary issue. According to the plan, we were to come out with Pist Protta no. 70 here at the beginning of 2011, which in that case would have marked the art journal\u27s 30th birthday, since it has been published continuously since the spring of 1981. At the editorial office, however, we have decided to deviate from the plan, and change the order a little, as we broadcast Pist Protta no. 116 from the year 2031, which, as you know, is 20 years in the future. We are therefore already marking the art journal\u27s 50th birthday, which is a unique, long-standing achievement that no other art journal can match.https://scholarship.rollins.edu/book_arts/1087/thumbnail.jp

The Impact of Covid-19 and the Lockdown on the UK Economy

    Get PDF
This thesis analyses the macroeconomic impacts of Covid-19 and the lockdown on the UK’s economy. GDP in the second quarter of 2020 fell by 19%, the largest quarterly decrease in GDP for the UK on record. Consumption and investment in this quarter decreased significantly resulting in the large decrease in GDP. The unemployment rate remained relatively low, for the large decrease in GDP, throughout the pandemic and only increased to 5.0% in December 2020. The effective Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) and the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) have kept unemployment low. The schemes have paid for 12.2 million workers’ wages from the start of the pandemic to December 2020. Inflation decreased along with GDP to 0.5% in August 2020 and remind constant for the remainder of 2020. The UK therefore had deflationary pressure at the end of 2020 but inflation remained above 0%. The UK introduced multiple fiscal, monetary, and health policies that all impacted the economy during the pandemic. The UK’s fiscal policy was very effective at protecting businesses and jobs and kept the unemployment rate low. Monetary policy had little effect on stimulating investment and consumption during the pandemic as the lockdown forced people to reduce their economic activity. But the quantitative easing program that has increased may prevent any deflation from occurring and stimulate the economy when the UK removes restrictions. The UK’s health policy has had the greatest economic impact with the lockdown causing significant reductions in economic activity and GDP. However, the country’s vaccination program is the path to stopping lockdowns and returning economic activity to pre-pandemic levels. To allow for quicker economic recovery it is important that the UK boosts consumption and keep unemployment levels low
