Cyber Risk Management from a Resource Advantage Perspective
Get PDFThe cyber risk management system has become a top priority for organizations in the global economy, and the internet and digitalization have changed how people work and live, making it essential to manage cyber risks effectively. However, many organizations find it difficult to establish an optimal cyber risk management system due to a lack of a clear understanding of their current level of security, insufficient budget, limited skills, and knowledge, and/or lack of technical expertise. Importantly, risk management is a complex process that requires an organization to establish a comprehensive risk management system to manage its cyber risks. Identifying the right framework and achieving an optimal return on investment in their cyber risk management system is a key challenge for organizations today. Managing cyber risks requires substantial resources of the firm and resource allocation could affect cybersecurity readiness. The research will use a survey to measure the risk appetite, risk tolerance, resource allocation, company size, technology wariness level, and cyber security readiness of respondents’ organizations to understand each construct’s relationship with resource allocation and cyber security readiness. Targeted respondents are risk management, internal audit, and information technology governance seniors. Using cross-sectional regression, this paper finds that all variables, but company size have significant effects on resource allocation and its effect on cybersecurity readiness
Rachmaninoff the Harmonist: The Rachmaninoff Sixth and its Analysis in His Music
Get PDFThe music of Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), Russia’s great pianist, conductor, and composer, has often been maligned by critics and musicologists alike for its reluctance to follow the avant-garde of the music world into that great adventure of experiments in atonality and non-common-practice technique of the early twentieth century. Although the composer’s works are beloved by audiences worldwide, they have often faced complex critical reception for the composer’s supposed conservatism and relative lack of expressive palette. Francis Maes, author of A History of Russian Music, lamented that “he lacked the exuberant imagination and subtle aestheticism of [Tchaikovsky],” and wrote that Rachmaninoff’s music was only an expression of “the musical values of the lower strata of the aristocracy.” Despite these remarks, Rachmaninoff’s music is not so easily stereotyped to the late Romantic, “last holdout” idea. A Cinematographic Comparison of the Representation of las Cholitas in two Bolivian films: Los Andes no creen en Dios directed by Antonio Eguino (2007) and Zona Sur by Juan Carlos Valdivia (2010)
Get PDFFrom its founding on a colonial system to the current socioeconomic class structure in Bolivia, indigenous rights have been improving in the state. Las cholitas are an Aymaran, indigenous group within Bolivia. This essay looks at the portrayal of cholitas in two different Bolivian films: Los Andes no creen en Dios directed by Antonio Eguino (2007) and Zona sur by Juan Carlos Valdivia (2010). The former is set in the 1920s and the latter in 2010, thus showing the change in status of indigenous people over a 90-year gap. This cinematographic analysis focused on the indicators of the separation of space, derogatory use of the word chola, and roles of servitude to explore the difference in cholita representation in both films
