The overall health of Brunswick College is excellent. The continued enrollment
growth throughout academic year 1993-94 has been outstanding and the resulting local
revenue has assisted the college in meeting many accumulated equipment needs. In
addition, the availability of lottery funds for equipment purchases to support the vocational
programs provided a major enhancement of those programs which are funded by the
Department of Technical and Adult Education. The campus reaped a major advantage
from these funds in being able to purchase 114 new computers which were used to
completely update computer resources for students. --

"Minorities in the College Classroom" was also utilized
as an inservice activity with a focus on open discussion --
The stress level during this year for nursing faculty was particularly intense. Widening salary gap between academic salaries and the private marketplace. --

Profile showed student performance as above the average for each of the seven skills
knowledge areas as compared to the seventeen similar two year colleges in the program. --
Enrollment at Brunswick College reached a total of 2029 during the fall quarter and
during the entire year demonstrated an annualized enrollment increase of 8.9%. --

The Omicron Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa received national recognition as a Distinguished Chapter placing eleventh in the nation in overall achievement. The President was invited to make a special presentation to the Board of Regents regarding the collaborative efforts between Brunswick College, Armstrong State College, and Georgia Southern University in Fall 1993. A coordinated approach to involving the total campus in an Open House for the public and a targeted approach for student organizations resulted in the first ever Family "Fun" Day. The Brunswick College Literary Magazine received the most outstanding commendations available for the publication of the campus literary magazine, SEASWELLS

The overall health of Brunswick College is outstanding. The restrictiveness of the
fiscal crisis in 1991-92 has been followed by continued positive enrollment growth
throughout the 1992-93 academic year which has helped to relieve some of the fiscal stress.
Although State revenues did not increase at the same rate as enrollment growth, the
availability of local revenue has assisted in dealing with the impact of the growth.
The climate of openness which the president has encouraged has led to a positive
tone on the campus. --

Dr. Lord completed seventy speaking engagements in her first year of service. Plans were developed for an off-campus center in Camden County using space provided at no charge to the college by Camden County Schools and utilizing a former elementary school site. The college was involved in the corporate relocation process for the Jered Brown Company, a major engineering and manufacturing defense contractor which relocated from the Detroit area to Brunswick in 1992. The president spoke to seven different minority audiences regarding the importance of education for the future of minority students. Complete restructuring of the Academic Advisement/Orientation program was completed. A new computer system was acquired for the library which made possible access to the Union catalog. Progress was made in completing the campus computer network. The inauguration of Dr. Dorothy L. Lord as the third permanent president of Brunswick College and the first woman president of a two-year college in Georgia was a major highlight of the 1991-92 year

Dr. Dorothy L. Lord took office August 1, 1991. The highest enrollment in the history of the college was reached in Fall 1991. Construction began on a $1.3 million Continuing Education Center. An institutional self-study was completed and was culminated by a Visiting Committee composed of peers from other higher education institutions. Brunswick College attained the highest passing rate of any State institution on the Regents Test for summer quarter 1991. The library doubled its volume of print materials circulation since the installation of the automated library system with the catalog available to patrons through public service terminals

The overall health of Brunswick College is outstanding. In view of the extensive
budget reductions which occurred during the 1992 fiscal year, faculty and staff morale seem
relatively high. The involvement of faculty and staff in identifying specific areas for budget
reduction resulted in all staff feeling included in the decisions which were made.
The higher community profile which the college has assumed during the past year
under new administrative leadership has been very positively regarded by faculty and staff. --
The [new] president [Dr. Dorothy L. Lord] has
undertaken extensive speaking engagements across all five counties served by Brunswick
College with more than seventy speaking engagements completed during academic year
1991-92.
The accreditation of the college was reaffirmed at the December 1991. Identified a weakness in lack of clarity of goals and in delivery of
Student Development Services. Complete reorganization of the Student Development Services --
1991-92 has been a year of outstanding public service
achievements in the library. These achievements are best illustrated by
circulation statistics. attributed in part to the
development and full implementation of the library automation system. --

A major achievement in academic affairs at Brunswick College was the 9.7%
increase in quarter credit hour production over that of 1989-90. In addition, there was a
dramatic increase in the number of summer quarter offerings. --
Completion of the
institutional self-study for the reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association. --
Phi Theta Kappa achieved level "5" status this year and was designated the
presidential chapter for the State of Georgia. Past PTK chapter president, John Talman,
was featured in USA TODAY as a member of the National Academic All-American
group. --
The major event with regard to Fiscal Year 1990-91, was the beginning of
construction of the new continuing education center, phase I. --

The year 1989-90, marking the twenty sixth year of the
college's operation, was a successful one with substantial
accomplishments in many fields of endeavor. In addition to the
regular on-going activities of the institution, a major thrust of
institutional effort has been concentrated toward conducting an
Institutional Self-Study for Reaffirmation of Accreditation by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Considerable effort was devoted to student recruitment and
retention, resulting in modest growth for academic and vocationaltechnical
programs. --
Implementation of an online
library automation system. --
In the Developmental Studies Department of the Special
Programs Division", a major goal has been a follow-up of the
retention of white males. --
The Continuing Education Division sponsored the first South
Coastal Georgia Conference on Women's History in April. The impetus for the event was the passage of legislation in
1988 denoting April as "Women's History Month." The College, in
recognition that the majority of its student currently enrolled
are women, decided to recognize women's aspirations and
achievements. --
Phi Theta Kappa, the
campus national academic honor society, achieved the lofty level
"3" status for the first time this past year. --
A new leadership development program for student government
affairs was initiated in 1989-1990. --
The year 1989-90 saw a significant increase in activities
designed to encourage minority students to feel a sense of
involvement in the College --
The Affirmative Action Plan was rewritten in November, 1989,
and submitted for approval. Analysis
revealed an adequate utilization of minorities and females in all
categories with the following exceptions: EEO-3 - 1 minority; EEO-
