Background Research
• People get diagnosed with Alzheimer's 
around the age of 65 and up.
• 1/3 of people will have some sort of 
Alzheimer's or Dementia by the age of 85.
• Caregivers express that "They feel like 
they lost them before they were even 
gone" and I know that is a hard pill to 
swallow. 
• The risk of being diagnosed with 
Alzheimer's at age 45 is 1 in 5 for women 
and 1 in 10 for men.

Summary
Memory Matters is an organization that not only 
helps Alzheimer's patients but also helps 
caregivers. By providing classes and support 
groups to care for these families. Creating a loving 
healthy environment is very important to them, and 
will continue to spread awareness for this 
heartbreaking disease. 
Topic description
This organization strives to get people more 
educated on Alzheimer's and also spreads 
awareness to those going through the 
struggles already. Informing people on brain 
health and how important it is on what you 
feed into your body.

BACKGROUND

EMPHASIZING THE NEED FOR MORE 
RESOURCES AND FUNDING ( ASPCA)
❖VOLUNTEERS PLAY A CRUCIAL ROLE IN 
SUPPORTING SHELTER OPERATIONS, AND 
SOCIALIZATION. EXPOSURE TO PEOPLE 
CAN INCREASE AN ANIMAL’S CHANCES OF 
ADOPTION ("PETFINDER FOUNDATION").
Goals
• The goal was to raise awareness about welfare 
issues by supporting vulnerable populations.  
• We aimed to support Glynn County Animal 
Services in promoting adoption and improving 
shelter conditions.
Project Description
Our project aimed to provide animals with a 
peaceful, clean, and loving environment. We 
assisted Glynn County Animal Services by helping 
with shelter operations. 
• Washing animal dishes.
• Taking dogs out for a walk
• providing necessary socialization to increasing 
their chances of adoption. 
This project ties to our course by connecting our 
research on welfare issues, specifically in our 
persuasive papers on child welfare, to real-world 
service. We applied scholarly sources to advocate for 
better care and attention to vulnerable populations, 
whether children or animals.
Partner Description
Glynn County Animal Services is a 
limited-admission shelter dedicated to 
providing refuge to homeless animals 
within Glynn County. Their mission is to 
make the Golden Isles a safer and 
healthier environment for both people 
and animals.
Impact
 By participating in hands-on activities, we gained a deeper understanding of how 
small efforts can significantly improve the lives of shelter animals. It was 
heartwarming to witness the joy in animals when they received even small gestures of 
care. The experience reaffirmed the positive change we can create by dedicating our 
time and efforts to causes we care about.

Introduction
This study examined the relationship between
problematic pornography use (PPU) and
relationship satisfaction in adult males
Previous research has solely used sexual
satisfaction to observe the effects of
problematic pornography use in relationships
Wehden and colleagues (2021) point out that the
tailored sexual gratification of pornographic
material may cause individuals to be displeased
with various aspects of their sexual partners
including their libido, physical appearance, or
skill. 
The research in this study aimed to observe
PPU’s correlation with relationship satisfaction
in a cumulative sense
The hypothesis for this study was that there
would be a negative correlation between PPU
and relationship satisfaction in heterosexual
adult males.
Methodology
Participants were over the age of 18, identified
as male, and currently in a heterosexual
relationship
Participants were recruited via Cloud Research
Connect and  received renumeration for up to
one US dollar
Materials: surveys were distributed through
Qualtrics and the data from those surveys was
analyzed through SPSS
A revised version of The Problematic
Pornography Use Scale (PPUS) was used to
measure PPU
I created The Relationship Satisfaction Scale
(RSS) to measure relationship satisfaction
Participants took both Likert based surveys
which took a total time of about 10 minutes
Results
Relationship satisfaction was significantly
negatively correlated with PPU (r= -.42, p<.001)
The data supported my hypothesis of a negative
correlation between PPU and relationship
satisfaction in heterosexual, adult males
Discussion
To my knowledge this is the first study that
shows a negative correlation between
problematic pornography use and relationship
satisfaction
This further supports past studies such as
Czajeczny and colleagues (2023) that  show that
frequent pornography consumption is
associated with disinterest in partnered sex,
lower sexual satisfaction in a relationship, less
attraction towards partner, and lower curiosity
and efficiency in sex 
This study paves a new area of study and the
data supports a need for further research in this
area
Future research should be conducted to observe
the emotional effects on female partners of
adult males with problematic pornography use
and expand the research to include individuals of
different gender identities and sexual
orientations
Limitations include accuracy of self reported
data and a nonrepresentative sample

pollution, advocating for stronger 
regulations, and engaging the 
community in conservation efforts.

• To obtain the data, information was gathered from SOCCOM floats available online. 
• Three floats were chosen for each quadrant: one close, middle, and far from the 
coast of Antarctica with twelve floats in total chosen. For each quadrant, all three 
floats were intentionally chosen based on the timing of their launch, in this case 
within a couple months of each other. This was to ensure that the average of all 
three floats was consistent and more accurate. 
• For the floats, two data points were collected for each cycle, an average 
temperature of every point from 0-10 meters in depth and an average temperature 
of every point below 100 meters in depth. This was done for every float for seventy-
five cycles over an average of twenty-five months or ten days per cycle. 
• After collecting all the data, tables were created to generate two scatter plots for 
each quadrant: one showing the quadrant average for surface and deep 
temperature and another to compare the data from all three floats. The last step 
was to again average the data from all four quadrants into a final table and scatter 
plot showing the average surface temperature and deep temperature of the entire 
south ocean from the data of twelve SOCCOM floats (Figure 2).

Our Hypothesis is that the Southern Ocean is warming at the 
same rate as the other major oceans. Our hypothesis is that 
due to climate change and anthropogenic carbon emissions, 
there will be a steady increase in ocean temperatures at all 
depths.
The objectives of this project are to:
1. Compare the temperatures of each 
quadrant.
2. Compare temperatures at depth 
contrasted to surface temperatures. 
3. Determine overall temperature trends in 
the Southern Ocean. 
The Southern Ocean is the fourth largest ocean on Earth’s 
surface and is a hot bed for temperature exchange (Figure 1). 
It is also not as hot as one would conventionally think. 
Understanding ocean temperature trends is crucial for the 
health of coastal and ocean ecosystems as well as for global 
climate trends. Warmer oceans do not sequester as much 
carbon dioxide, acidify which is harmful to shellfish 
populations, and slows down the underwater conveyor belt 
which brings cooler waters to the Northern Hemisphere
(Mikolajewicz, 1998). 
Given these results, we conclude that:
1. Quadrant 4 and Quadrant 3 both had the coldest 
temperatures as compared to Quadrant 1 and 2 
which had similar temperatures. 
2. The surface temperatures in each quadrant was 
consistently hotter than the temperatures at 
depth. This is mainly due to the sun warming the 
surface, and the lack of light down at the benthic 
layer. 
3. Glacial melt from a warming atmosphere could be 
contributing to the cooling trends seen in the 
waters (Silvano, 2018). 
We would like to thank the SOCCOM Project for proving the 
buoy data for this research project.
• Figure 3 shows Ocean temperatures are 
fairly stable by depth with general 
fluctuations typical of any dataset 
• Figure 4 indicates that global ocean 
temperatures on the surface follow a 
warming cooling trend. 
• Figure 4 and 5 show that the surface 
temperature is higher than the benthic 
layer.

From this project we learned how to 
research and find data needed to complete 
our project. We also learned teamwork, 
collaboration and delineation as we each 
took on roles to make sure the project ran 
smoothly.

Outcomes:
• Increase the number of high school students trained in CPR. 
• Improve student knowledge and confidence in performing CPR. 
•Enhance emergency preparedness and response among students. 
Planning:
•Collaborate with a local high school and the American Heart Association. 
•Team up with a certified trainer to develop a curriculum that follows current 
CPR guidelines. 
•Schedule education and training sessions within a high school classroom. 
•Obtain resources, such as CPR manikins, instructional materials, and 
certificates of completion. 
Implementation:
•Researching cardiac emergencies and CPR implementation among high 
school students.
•Partnering with a certified CPR instructor.
•Providing education on cardiac emergencies and CPR. 
•Providing opportunities for students to practice CPR on manikins under 
supervision. 
•Offering certification for students who complete the training. 
•Encouraging students to share knowledge with their families and 
communities, spreading awareness on the importance of early intervention. 
Evaluation: 
•Pre-assessments to evaluate the students’ current knowledge of cardiac 
emergencies and CPR. 
•Post-assessments to evaluate the students’ knowledge retention and skill 
improvement. 
•Skills check-off to show understanding of CPR implementation. 
• Informal verbal discussions regarding the students’ feedback of the program, 
as well as the impact CPR training has on our community.
Community Partner:
• Frederica Academy is a Private School located on Saint Simons 
Island Georgia and consist of all age groups ranging from 
elementary to high school students.
• We chose this specific school because the nurse is well known 
and has worked with service-learning groups here at CCGA in 
the past years. She has helped us connect with the Principal, 
giving us the opportunity to teach a class about our service-
learning project.
Analysis:
• Collaborative planning and problem solving: We communicated 
back and forth with the nurse at Frederica about our service-
learning project, what the requirements consisted of and an 
explanation of how our specific project would benefit the high 
schoolers.
• How the community benefits from it: With providing students 
with a CPR certification, it provides them with the capabilities to 
perform life-saving CPR in those specific circumstances, with 
confidence. This is going to help reduce the number of “out of 
hospital” deaths that occur due to limited knowledge on 
effective CPR.
• Value of the nurse’s involvement in the service-learning 
community: Having the nurse’s participation in this project has 
been extremely beneficial. They are advocating for the students 
to become bigger than themselves, and the community around 
them. CPR is a topic that is lacked within society, so presenting 
this project is only going to benefit those involved, and better 
the chance of survival for those around them. Nurses’ are vital to 
aid in improving the lives out within their communities.
Level Of Prevention:
• Primary Prevention: Educating the students about 
preventing cardiac arrest and teaching them the 
steps of how to do effective CPR.
• Secondary Prevention: Training the students to 
recognize the signs of a cardiac arrest and respond 
quickly to improve survival outcomes. 
• Tertiary Prevention: The students will get continuous 
training on care and how important it is to intervene 
in certain medical situations, which will help 
decrease long term issues that may happen for a 
person who could experience something like a 
cardiac arrest. 
Healthy People 2030:
•The Healthy People goal that can be correlated to 
this community project is, "Attain healthy, thriving 
lives and well-being free of preventable disease, 
disability, injury, and premature death." Healthy 
people 2030 also talks about "Eliminate health 
disparities, achieve improved health for all people, 
and attain health literacy to improve the health and 
well-being of all."
Outcomes – Long and Short Term:
•Short Term Goal: Our group would like to increase 
awareness of cardiac arrest 
• Long Term Goal: Decrease the death rates in the 
community that are due from cardiac arrest. 
Community Assessment: We assessed local high schools within 
our community. Due to its smaller size, Frederica Academy 
aligned with our goal of teaching and certifying15 students 
CPR.
Community Diagnosis: Deficient knowledge related to lack of 
CPR training among high school students as evidenced by 
limited understanding of basic life support techniques, lack of 
confidence in responding to emergencies, and absence of 
formal CPR education in school curricula.
