"Veil Walking": Assertions of Bodily Autonomy and Black Mothering as Forms of Agency in Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing
Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing addresses the legacy of colonialism by outlining the race-based discrimination embedded in ideological, legal, economic, and social structures for both Ghana and the US. In this thesis, I explore the ways in which characters reclaim agency despite these oppressive structures through bodily autonomy, sexual freedom, Black mothering, and othermothering. Rather than focusing on the victimization of the Black community, my thesis focuses on collective resistance against injustice that results in improved conditions.Englis
Step Toward Functional Independence: Teaching Shoe Tying Through Video Modeling and Task Analysis
Shoe tying is a functional life skill which requires dexterity, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. This project takes place at the Recreational Education Center (REC) in Peabody, Massachusetts with the objective of testing the effectiveness of using a video model to teach shoe tying. At the time of recruitment, the participant was a client receiving applied behavior analysis services at the REC who was unable to tie shoes, and was capable of learning the skill. Once the video model was selected, a task analysis was created which breaks the skill down into small steps to track progress. After baseline data was collected, intervention trials were conducted using a least-to-most prompting hierarchy. Results found video modeling to be successful in improving shoe tying independence.Healthcare Studie

Enhancing Accessibility: Empowering Marginalized Students To Utilize Academic Support Services
This project focused on improving accessibility and encouraging marginalized students to engage with academic support services at Salem State University. Working alongside the Center for Accessible Academic Resources (CAAR), awareness events were held on both North and Central campuses, where students were invited to complete a brief survey about their knowledge and use of available resources. The survey responses revealed common barriers, such as limited awareness, cultural stigma, and concerns about judgment. These in-person interactions not only boosted the visibility of CAAR but also provided meaningful insight into student needs. The findings highlight the value of direct outreach and inclusive practices in making academic support more approachable and accessible for all students.Healthcare Studie
Exploring the Variety and Importance of Safety Trainings in Residential Services at Northeast Arc: Understanding the resources necessary for Quality In Person Training Programs within the Residential Disability Services at Northeast Arc
Exploration of the residential safety training plan at Northeast Arc (NEArc) focused on improving the effectiveness of and expanding the resources necessary for quality in-person training programs within the Residential Disabilities Division. The initiative centered on enhancing the quality and consistency of in-person safety education for staff supporting individuals with disabilities across approximately 30 residential homes. Its primary goal was to boost knowledge retention and elevate training standards to better prepare staff for both emergency situations and daily safety practices. A key finding was the critical need for a full-time trainer dedicated exclusively to in-person safety training—ensuring greater consistency, engagement, and depth of instruction. Strengthening this safety training framework is vital to maintaining a safe, supportive, and responsive environment for the individuals served by NEArc’s residential programs.Healthcare Studie
Tackling Digital Literacy Among the Homeless: Building Confidence and Career Readiness Through Digital Literacy Training
Improving digital literacy is essential for increasing access to employment opportunities among unaccompanied homeless youth. This internship project at The Haven Project focused on implementing a digital literacy program using Level All, a bilingual online platform that teaches job readiness, cybersecurity, and digital confidence. Modules were selected based on Haven’s existing digital literacy framework and tailored to meet client needs. Participants completed resume-building, job search, and online safety lessons. A Google Form was used to collect pre- and post-session feedback, which showed an increase in self-reported tech confidence and skills. Findings suggest that pairing Level All with one-on-one coaching can make digital learning more accessible and empowering for vulnerable youth populations.Healthcare Studie
Strategic Growth in Social Vertebrates
Recent evidence suggests that social vertebrates can modify their growth and size in an adaptive fashion in response to fine-grain changes in social conditions. In this talk, I will review experimental evidence for strategic growth in social vertebrates, describe conditions under which strategic growth commonly occurs, and highlight examples of convergent evolution of strategic growth across the tree of life
Enhancing Student Awareness and Engagement: Bridging SSU Disability Services Office with Campus Community Through Tabling Events
The objective of this project was to raise awareness of the accommodations and services provided by the Disability Services Office for students that can further enhance their academic success in higher education. Two table events were held on Salem State University's South and North Campus to provide information on the office’s location, accommodations, and services to an array of students in all majors. Flyers, postcards, QR codes of the office Instagram page, giveaway opportunities, and much more were offered to all students who wanted to participate and learn more about the office. Tabling proved to be a successful way to interact and educate students on campus

Body & Soul Massage is an alternative healing center. Providing therapeutic massages, Thai massage, Swedish massage, and more. The objective of this senior internship project was to assess the demographics of the people who are utilizing massage therapy versus those who are not. And how to reach new clientele through advertisement (blogs and social media posts) and education. A 20-question (including demographic and client satisfaction questions, etc.) client survey was emailed. The survey yielded over 30 respondents.
