It discusses mandatory minimum sentences, sentencing disparities, racial bias, drug courts, and the Defund the Police movement, analyzes the issues and benefits associated with each of these areas, and specifies the disproportionate impact many of the system’s flaws have had on people of color and poor communities. The First School Shooter: Examining Multiple Causation In A Case Of Mass Murder
Get PDFViolence in schools and in public settings is an unfortunately growing problem in modern society, and understanding why and how these crimes happen is an integral part to preventing future occurrences. This thesis is a case study of Charles Whitman, the person recognized as perpetrating the first mass shooting on a college campus. This case study examines multiple causation theory using Charles Whitman’s case as an examine and guide for discussion. Areas of discussion include childhood abuse, drug use, self esteem, brain chemistry, social learning, locus of control, limbic system dysfunction, and cancer. It is argued through the case study that multiple causation theory provides the strongest, most encompassing explanation for why a person may end up committing a violent crime. Connections between sections, relation to the Whitman case, and discussion about how multiple causation theory is applicable to preventing similar cases are discussed.Psycholog

A list of the firms includes: Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst & Young, and PwC. They are multi-national firms with offices in Boston. The major research questions are: How do the four companies relate to one another? Is employee satisfaction and benefits varied or similar? Which one is a best fit for any applicant overall? Due to a shortage of entry level personnel in the accounting field, firms are currently searching for recent graduates to add to their team. These four enterprises are researched for their structure, services, employee benefits, revenue, important clients or number of clients, number of employees total, employee salaries, any bonuses given out, satisfaction of employees both past and present, and what the company does to help the community. Firms with optimal structures and procedures help to create the best work environment, the highest rate of employee satisfaction, and improves the quantity and quality of work being produced. French Canadian Folktales

Whether your passion is in mathematics, dance, or architecture, I’ve always been a firm believer that choosing to study something you love will make your university days immeasurably more fulfilling. My thesis titled “French Canadian Folktales” is a testament to this philosophy, as it is a marriage of the invaluable passions I’ve accrued during my time as a student: printmaking and French. My goal for this thesis was to create a highly collaborative experience that incorporates these two passions in a way that showcases both my translation and my studio time. Therefore, the following is the result of two semesters’ work crafting print illustrations under my thesis advisor, Professor Benjamin Gross. The translations were completed over three years with Professor Elizabeth Blood, alongside nine students of French: Kristen Burgess, Bayron Contreras, Patrick Delva, Sage Grant, Samantha Gurney, Raymond Harris, Rachael Kuper, Anna Snyder, and myself. The result is a collection of fifteen folktales from 19th century Québécois writers that undergraduate students and faculty have translated from French into English. All folktales have been assembled into a book and accompanied by my original prints. Through this project, may you not only find these stories amusing but also be able to experience the culture and literature of folktales from French-speaking Québec. Bonne lecture!Art + Desig

The SSU course collaborated with a course taught at International Alatoo University in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. There were 16 students in the SSU course and around 25 students in the partner course. Digital tools used in collaborative work included Zoom and WhatsApp. The slide deck was used to prepare SSU students for their COIL collaborative work on the topic of migration.Global migration is arguably the most pressing political issue of our time. This course explores the drivers, dimensions, and consequences of global mobility with a focus on current migrant and refugee crises. Why do people move across borders? Through evidence-based treatment and a holistic approach, RCA is able to deliver the most appropriate form of treatment to each patient. No full textThe purpose of this project was to track and record the progress of dynamic exercises and the impact they had on individuals’ exercise plans who have limited range of motion. All participants had preexisting goals of improving mobility in their lower body and strengthening weaker areas in their bodies, which overall helped them with their daily living activities. The exercise plans for each participant were constructed by professionals in the field of exercise science using evidence-based approaches that focused on the lower body, upper body, core strengthening, and full body. Implementing these dynamic exercise plans to increase mobility and strengthen weaker areas over five weeks also resulted in increasing muscle preparedness before exercising and increasing independence and confidence within the individuals

The agency aims to integrate these individuals into the community through engagement in school, work, and social events. The objective of this senior internship was to hire the right candidates to better serve this population. The talent acquisition team in human resources was asked to post three open positions for skills trainers in three different areas of Massachusetts. The candidates that applied were evaluated during the phone screening program and then forwarded onto the hiring manager for a formal interview. The program was proven to be successful, the positions were filled and removed from the applications managing system

No full textThe purpose of this project was to gauge how employees felt on the effectiveness of their New Hire Orientation. By utilizing a survey, I was able to get the input of 30 employees who underwent two different lengths of orientation. 20 employees took part in a four-day orientation, and 10 employees were part of the two-week orientation. Both groups of employees agreed that additional employee training had an impact on employee retention and that a longer more in-depth orientation was more beneficial for employee readiness
The Impact of Childhood Cancer Beyond the Afflicted: A Literature Review
Get PDFThe sudden diagnosis of childhood cancer can be life-threatening and pose a substantial challenge to families. When a child is diagnosed, the family is expected to take on new responsibilities and learn new skills. The family's functioning may alter for long periods of time, which is not always simple, and for many families, it can result in severe emotional stress that lasts for a very long time. In this literature review, seven articles in the PubMed database met the common themes identified (a) the needs and impacts of the family experiencing childhood cancer, (b) social support and siblings of children with cancer, and (c) parental distress related to the diagnosis of childhood cancer. These themes underline the need to increase awareness of the potential emotional harm that these patients and their families might experience. Families are often forced to rearrange their current lifestyles by altering routines and family responsibilities. The importance of illness management regimens combined with physical symptoms like pain and exhaustion are likely to interfere with many aspects of everyday life for not only the children but also for their parents and siblings. It is important to properly assess the family involved to provide sufficient care, as they are also affected. Without proper interventions, family members and children can experience a sufficient amount of emotional, psychosocial, and physical distress that can last for many years.Nursin
