Three Language Schools, Same Mission, One NNEST: Native-Speakerism in the Discourses of Three Private Language Schools
This qualitative study examines how private language schools reproduce or resist native-speakerism through public-facing discourses of three language schools where I also worked: British Town (Turkey), Canadian College (Colombia), and Approach International Student Center (Boston). Using multimodal critical discourse analysis, I analyzed websites and job advertisements through an integrated framework: Selvi's job-ad coding of discriminatory language, Fairclough's three-dimensional CDA, and Kress & van Leeuwen's visual grammar. Data consisted of public facing school discourses and screenshots of institutional pages and recruitment posts; analysis combined deductive codes (e.g., nativeness requirements, citizenship/passport filters, credential talk) with inductive themes in text-image pairings. The findings indicate that Turkey and Colombia explicitly and implicitly convey preference for native or foreign speakers by implementing British, US, and Canadian symbols; images of international (white) teachers; and different tiers of language course packages that indicate access to native or bicultural educators is superior and more valuable. By contrast, the Boston site centers qualifications, mentoring, and mission fit; job language avoids "native" requirements, and the staff page displays significant diversity. The patterns across cases hint at how market branding, rules, and school goals all work together. This research introduces a single, integrated coding model for websites and ads. Limitations include three cases and public texts only; future work should connect discourse to HR records and pay scales across sites and over time.Englis
Check Us Out: Grassroot Marketing Strategy to Introduce Allergy Services to Library Patrons
This internship project focused on developing and implementing a targeted marketing and community outreach plan to increase awareness of food allergy desensitization services offered at New England Food Allergy Treatment Center . The initiative included creating educational materials, distributing informational flyers at local libraries, and conducting new patient surveys to measure the campaign’s effectiveness. A SurveyMonkey questionnaire was sent to all new patients to track referral sources and evaluate whether community outreach impacted patient acquisition. Results demonstrated increased community engagement and a higher percentage of new patients citing library outreach as their referral source. This project highlights the importance of strategic outreach in improving patient awareness of specialized healthcare services.Healthcare Studie
How Botox has a Positive Impact on Migraines: The Benefits of Botox for Migraines
Botox is a injection that can help relax muscles. It can ease the tension of a migraine, and cause relief to symptoms relating to a severe migraine. This can be extremely beneficial as a non-therapeutic way to help with pain management. By relaxing the muscles in the forehead and in many other areas in the face as well, it can lessen the symptoms and the severity, as well as hopefully preventing anything in the future. The injections need to take place every 3 months, to maintain and keep the muscles relaxed to lessen symptoms. Although my focus is on migraines, there are many other disorders that botox can help with!Healthcare Studie
Salem Hospital Radiology Department; Observations From the Spanish Speaking Population
This project focused on the comfortability of the Spanish-speaking population in healthcare settings and how critical this issue to ensure safe and effective care for this population. The objective was to garner truthful data from Spanish-speaking patients through the use of a brief electronic survey. The research explored responses from various patients about their experiences as well as their recommendations as Spanish-speaking patients receiving care from healthcare professionals. These patients reported specifically on Salem Hospital's Radiology Department and their interpreter services received there. Responses provided transparency for participants and provided a space for them to reflect on their thoughts and ideas about the situation. The overall results of the survey indicated that patients were satisfied and confident with the Spanish translation services provided at this healthcare facility.Healthcare Studie
Career Fair Flyers for High School Students: Exploring Healthcare Careers
This project focused on implementing healthcare career paths and opportunities for students during career fairs held at High Schools surrounding the areas of Beverly, MA in the cities of Revere, Peabody and Lynn. With the resources of the Human Resource department, flyers were created to provide information on various entry-level career paths while also providing insight on higher education requirements. This opportunity provides the chance for the organization to connect with students in different communities to share information and help them learn more about healthcare fields in a clinical and non-clincal setting. The flyers created provided a wide range of career paths students can pursue with an Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, Master's degree and/or PhD. By providing entry level job opportunities with certification requirements and higher education requirements it enhances students to seek interest and encourage healthcare career advancement after high school.Healthcare Studie
Embark Program:The Benefits of Disability Programs For Students
The purpose of the analysis was to review the importance of disability services and how it provides important life skills and academic assistance. The analysis was completed at Embark Disabilities Program in Salem, Massachusetts. The objective of the project was to research the benefits of the program for disabled students and to analyze how the staff and students felt about the program. There were two surveys completed by students and employees. The surveys analyzed the benefits of the program for the students and if the program was sufficient. After the surveys were completed, the results were expanded into graphs that analyzed the results. In all, there are numerous benefits to disability programs throughout the country, but specifically here in Salem, Massachusetts at Embark Program. The students enjoy the environment, the teachers, and the program. More so, the employees at this program see the benefits of the program within their students. The special education program has been extremely successful.Healthcare Studie
You're With Us Summer Prefrence Assessment: Searching for Inclusive and Informed Programming
Participant satisfaction in community based day programs is crucial. To ensure the diverse needs of the adults with disabilities that You're With US serves are met then there needs to be a way to study the preferences of this unique population. The purpose of this internship project was to determine what activities the participants would prefer to do this summer. After creating a Summer Preference Assessment Tool and gathering data with it there were activities that were more prefered than others. This valuable data will inform the activity planning for the You're With Us's DEN Program summer activities.Healthcare Studie

Researching Virtual Specialty Care For Boston Children’s Hospital, A Competitive Analysis of Virtual Specialty Care Across U.S. Hospitals
This project I worked on at the Boston Children Hospital reviewed the presentation of the Virtual Specialty Care in 35 major hospitals in the U.S. With virtual care gaining importance, particularly among pediatric patients and families that need to access specialty services without the inconvenience of travelling, digital delivery of such services is especially relevant to accessibility. The project was to analyze the clarity and fairness in which hospitals communicate their Virtual Specialty Care online. Data was gathered in a number of dimensions, such as the availability of services, specialties, booking experience, pricing clarity, and multilingual services, with a structured Excel tracker. Findings revealed that 76% of hospitals offered Virtual Specialty Care in a single specialty and 24% did not. Of the hospitals that did offer virtual specialty care, pricing information was also published by only 18%. 90% of hospitals restricted access to in-state patients, and only 31% of hospitals had multilingual support, mainly in Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese. The results indicated significant discrepancies in usability and transparency of websites of hospitals. Hospitals that were outstanding focused on descriptions of services, inclusive design, and easy booking that did not need patient log-in. The findings of this analysis have been compiled in the form of recommendations that can provide the Boston Children Hospital with the best strategies to enhance its virtual care digital approach. The publication is in line with wider aims of increasing access, equity, and trust in pediatric telehealth servicesHealthcare Studie
