WILL “THE HAWK” MAKE THE MARKET RANDOM WALK?
Research Purposes. Objective of study is examining market efficiency in Indonesia under high interest rates issue.Research Methods. Observation period on Indonesia stock composite index starts from June 7, 2023 to February 29, 2024. Several procedures are applied in objective of hypothesis testing, which are: (1) mean difference test supported by Cohen's test and normality test by Anderson-Darling in terms of detecting how market returns differ in the two observation periods; (2) runs test runs test in terms of detecting the randomness of market returns after the risk-free rate; (3) ARIMA is supported by the Augmented Dickey-Fuller test in terms of detecting whether randomness is just noise (or white noise); and (4) variance ratio test in terms of confirming the results of runs test and ARIMA to determine whether the market returns are efficient or just a noise.Research Results and Findings. Consistent with efficient market hypothesis, findings show that the market condition during the effective interest rate period of 6% has higher returns, riskier, better risk-return trade-off, and less efficient. During that period, noise seemed to play a role in creating market gaps. This study concludes that monetary policy in maintaining high effective interest rates cannot determine whether the market is more efficient. As implication, the high effective interest rate tends not to result in a shift in investor behavior to allocate stock investments to risk-free assets. This study contributes to develop the finance and accounting science, especially in the fair presentation of financial information including investment decisions
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SMOKING HABITS AND THE INCIDENCE OF CHRONIC URTICARIA IN CIVITAS WIDYA MANDALA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY SURABAYA
Background: Urticaria is a heterogeneous disease with multiple causative factors. A thorough literature research has revealed a very limited amount of evidence about the effects of smoking and alcohol consumption habits on the clinical characteristics of urticaria.. Atopic allergic which mean urticaria can affect all populations, but is most common in those aged between 20 to >60 years. Smoking has been reported to play a role in the onset of Urticaria. Substances in cigarette smoke can interact with body cells, resulting in the formation of free radicals or Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS).Objective: To see the relationship between smoking habit and the incidence of chronic urticaria among civitas at Widya Mandala Surabaya. Methods: The method used in this study was a case-control study by taking a population of civitas at the Widya Mandala Surabaya who had smoking history from 2020 to 2023. A sample of 94 people was obtained who had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. The sample of this study was divided into two groups consisting of a case group and a control group. Results: The results of the Contigency Coefficient Correlation test showed a significant p value of 0.031 <0.05, which means that there is an important correlation between smoking and the incidence of chronic urticaria among civitas at the Widya Mandala Surabaya. Conclusion: It is proven that there is a relationship between smoking and the incidence of chronic urticaria in civitas of Widya Mandala Surabaya
CORRELATION OF THE FLAT FOOT AND THE SEVERITY OF SCOLIOSIS IN ELDERLY PATIENTS AT PHC HOSPITAL SURABAYA
Background: The main symptoms of Scoliosis are changes in body posture, such as unlevel shoulders, rib prominence, or waistline asymmetry. Some previous studies have shown major role of feet a in supporting the body weight support and providing dynamic balance in gait function. Moreover, flat foot (pes planus) may cause lower limb rotation and low back pain possibly due to altered postural reactions and subsequent compensatory patterns between the spine and lower extremitiesObjective: To explain the correlation between the incidence of pes planus and the severity of scoliosis in elderly patients (≥60 y.o) at PHC Surabaya Hospital.Method: This research is an analytical research using a cross sectional study, used probability sampling with purposive sampling. The minimum number of samples required in this research was calculated using the Lemeshow formula, resulting in 69 samples. Data were collected in the form of primary data (Clarke's angle measurement results in the medial longitudinal arch [MLA]) and secondary data (medical records) from 69 patients with a history of scoliosis (using the Cobb Angle Criteria) at PHC Surabaya Hospital in August – October 2023 by Specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology. Then tested with the Spearman Correlation test using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29.Results: Of the 69 patients diagnosed with flat foot (pes planus) studied, it was found that 57 patients (82.6%) had scoliosis, but based on the results of statistical analysis of the two variables these were not significantly correlated (p = 0.932).Conclusion: There were no significant results regarding the correlation between the incidence of flat foot (pes planus) and the severity of scoliosis at PHC Surabaya Hospital. This is related to the inclusion and exclusion criteria set by researchers, such as age, BMI, and past medical history
ANALYSIS OF INCREASED C-REACTIVE PROTEIN LEVELS IN BLOOD SERUM OF RATTUS NORVEGICUS WISTAR STRAIN DUE TO INTAKE OF POLYETHYLENE MICROPLASTICS
Background: The widespread use of plastic and poor management of plastic waste is an environmental problem and has an impact on human health. The most commonly found microplastic contaminant is polyethylene polymer. Ingested microplastic particles will undergo an endocytosis mechanism and be absorbed into the bloodstream. This then triggers an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) which induces oxidative stress and results in an inflammatory response. This study tries to analyze the effect of administering microplastics on increasing blood serum C-reactive protein as a biomarker and marker of the inflammatory response due to microplastics. Method: The experimental analytical research used 42 Rattus Norvegicus Wistar Strain animals, which were divided into 5 experimental groups and 1 control group. Quantitative data measurements/collection were carried out at two times (pre-post-test control group design) and analyzed by non-parametric comparison using the Friedman Test to see the increase in C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels in the blood serum of Rattus norvegicus Wistar Strain before and after being given intake polyethylene microplastics. Result: In all groups X0-X5, The results of the comparative test using the Friedman test showed a significant value of P = 0.000 (P < 0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a difference in pre and post experimental CRP levels. Discussion: The increase in serum CRP levels from the control group to the X5 treatment group may be due to oxidative stress mechanisms, especially in hepatocyte cells, smooth muscle cells, macrophage cells, endothelial cells, lymphocyte cells and adipocyte cells which induce the production of CRP protein, especially native C-reactive protein (nCRP) and monomeric C-reactive protein (mCRP). The difference in serum CRP levels was significant (P = 0.000), where there was an increase in serum CRP levels post treatment (post experimental) from the lowest mean of 0.05 mg/L (pre experimental) to the highest of 0.98 mg/L on average, indicating that administration of microplastic intake at the dose studied had an impact on increasing serum CRP levels in response to an inflammatory reaction. The limitation of this research is that there are no journals that examine microplastics on serum CRP levels, resulting in a lack of research that can be used as a reference or comparative theory. Conclusion: Administration of Microplastic Polyethylene at the dose studied in the treatment group caused a significant increase in Rattus Norvegicus Wistar Strain Serum CRP levels
PENYULUHAN KESEHATAN DAN PEMERIKSAAN KADAR GULA DARAH SEBAGAI UPAYA PENCEGAHAN DIABETES MELITUS DI DESA CURAH COTTOK, SITUBONDO
Diabetes mellitus is a disease whose population is increasing and can occur at all ages. This disease generally appears in the elderly. Diabetes mellitus is characterized by increased glucose levels in the blood. In rural communities, knowledge about this disease is still minimal, so hyperglycemia is usually only discovered when the condition gets worse. Blood sugar levels can be determined through blood sugar checks. The people in Curah Cottok Village have a pattern of consuming quite a lot of sugar. Drinks tend to taste very sweet when consumed. Apart from that, this village also produces crackers where the basic ingredient for making crackers is flour which is another source of carbohydrates. This needs to be watched out for because it can be a factor in increasing blood sugar levels. Increasing community knowledge in rural areas is carried out through health education activities and health consultations. Early detection of diabetes mellitus is carried out through random blood sugar level checks. This community service activity was carried out in Curah Cottok Village, Situbondo. Participants in this activity were 26 people aged 50-80 years. The result of this community service activity is a change in the village community's knowledge from knowing to knowing about diabetes mellitus and the prevention that needs to be done. Another result is data reports on residents who are at risk of developing diabetes mellitus. This data can be used by village officials or village midwives to plan referrals to health facilities or programs to prevent diabetes mellitus complication

PERUBAHAN PROTEIN DAN HIDROGEN SIANIDA PADA PEMBUATAN TEMPE KACANG KORO PEDANG (Canavalia ensiformis (L) DC)
Jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis (L.) DC) is a bean that can be used to make tempe because its protein althought contains hydrogen cyanide. There are several processing steps during the tempe making of jack bean, that can ameliorate hydrogen cyanide but improve protein quality of jack bean. This research was conducted with the aim to determine changes in levels of hydrogen cyanide, soluble protein and total protein during the processing of jack bean tempe. The treatment was applied on each stage of the processing of jack bean tempe with a total of six stages, namely raw material, 24 h soaking, first boiling, second boiling, inoculation, and 24 h fermentation. Hydrogen cyanide and total protein gradually lowered in line with the jack bean tempe processing, respectively. Soluble protein levels increased at the soaking stage then decreased at the boiling stage and increased from the inoculation stage to become jack bean tempe. The higher inoculum concentrations and the longer fermentation time caused hydrogen cyanide decreased. In reverse, moisture and soluble protein content increased. Using 1.5 % (w/w) inoculum produced the highest total protein content compared to those obtained from 1.0% and 2.0% inoculum concentration both in 24 and 48 h fermentation time
