Globally, climate change has been bringing substantial impact on the field of natural disaster, agriculture, fishery, food security, migration, and biodiversity. Especially, food security is directly relating to our daily life in terms of sustaining our lives and preventing diseases. At the same time, it has been repeatedly reported that not a few proportions of greenhouse gas emission are attributable to food production. From the perspective of protecting both the health of human and the planet, the concept of sustainable diet such as EAT-Lancet diet has been spreading. Translations of Petitions Submitted to the Virginia Revolutionary Assembly in 1776 Regarding the Established Church
This article presents translations of eight petitions submitted to Virginia’s revolutionary assembly concerning matters of religion. These petitions are crucial for understanding the evolving recognition of and discourse surrounding religious liberty during the American Revolution and the Early Republic era. While the Virginia Statute for Establishing Religious Freedom (1786) and the First Amendment of the U. S. Constitution (1791) are often cited as decisive moments in the history of American religious freedom and toleration, they did not emerge in isolation. As demonstrated by six of these petitions, the declarations of independence by Virginia and other colonies from the United Kingdom sparked dissenters’ criticism of the established Church of England, while the church’s clergy endeavored to defend their institution and the social status they had enjoyed during the colonial era. Religious freedom was not an abstract idea created by educated elites; rather, the vigorous efforts of dissenters encouraged political leaders to establish it. Not all revolutionaries in Virginia, however, favored immediate disestablishment; some political leaders supported the established church, though this did not necessarily imply a belief in its exclusive status within the newly independent state. Examining the petitions translated in this article provides valuable insights into contemporary views on the church-state relationship through the actual language of clerical and lay leaders of the time.departmental bulletin pape
Record of the Round Table Held during the Symposium “The Actual Situation and Future of Spanish Education: Continuity between High School and University”
The subject of the discussion was the actual situation and future of the Spanish language in the Japanese school system, from elementary school to university. It is necessary to create a more effective and solid connection throughout the educational system so that teachers can provide a more unified vision of Spanish-language education, and thus improve the plurilingual and pluricultural competence of the students, skills which will allow students to succeed in a multilingual society.departmental bulletin pape
