A new herrerasaurian dinosaur from the Upper Triassic Upper Maleri Formation of south-central India
Some of the oldest known dinosaurs and the first faunas numerically dominated by them are documented in the Upper Triassic–Lower Jurassic-aged Gondwana formations exposed in the Pranhita-Godavari Valley of south-central and east-central India. The Upper Maleri Formation of the Pranhita-Godavari Basin preserves an early-middle Norian dinosaur assemblage numerically dominated by sauropodomorph dinosaurs, including at least two nominal species. However, the preliminary report of a herrerasaurian dinosaur specimen indicates that this assemblage of south-central Gondwana was more taxonomically diverse. Here, we describe and compare in detail the anatomy and assess the taxonomy and phylogenetic relationships of the Upper Maleri herrerasaurian specimen. A unique combination of character states present in this specimen allows the erection of the new genus and species Maleriraptor kuttyi. Updated quantitative phylogenetic analyses focused on early dinosauriforms recovered Maleriraptor kuttyi as a member of Herrerasauria outside of the South American clade Herrerasauridae. Maleriraptor kuttyi fills a temporal gap between the Carnian South American herrerasaurids and the younger middle Norian–Rhaetian herrerasaurs of North America. Maleriraptor kuttyi shows the first evidence that herrerasaurs survived also in Gondwana the early Norian tetrapod turnover that resulted in the global extinction of the rhynchosaurs

EngagementThe 54th International Conference on Environmental Systems was held in Prague, Czechia, on 13 July 2025 through 17 July 2025.Spacesuits, human mobility tools, and rovers are some of
the essential hardware that Artemis III astronauts will use
during the next Moon landing. To keep astronauts safe from
the hazards of space, they will need knowledge to properly
manage lunar dust, plumbing issues, liquids in space,
decompression sickness, and much more. The Spacesuit
Knowledge Capture (SKC) and Strategic Communications (Strat
Comm) team is skilled in capturing applicable space-related
knowledge and sharing it with NASA scientists, technicians,
engineers, new employees, vendors building hardware, and
the public. These knowledge captures include educational
outreach, recorded lectures, workshops, interviews, and
vignettes that contain essential knowledge from
subject-matter experts. They also include still and video
imagery of hardware, facilities, analogue studies, and
laboratory testing. The team skillfully produces recorded
imagery to help illustrate and adequately communicate the
complex story of past, present, and future human space
exploration to those inside and outside the realm of space
science. The SKC and Strat Comm team evolved from the U.S.
SKC Program, and after the first decade, the program has
managed to double its annual capture rate. This knowledge
is archived, organized, and disseminated, as appropriate,
with the team’s customers and stakeholders. Being
integrated within the technical community, the SKC and
Strat Comm team collaborates with internal and external
entities to identify, capture, and transfer timely and
applicable lessons learned, including safety lessons. These
lessons span from the early existence of space travel
including the Apollo 1 fire to the more recent
water-in-the-helmet incidents. As the SKC and Strat Comm
team continues to evolve and cultivate ideas to capture and
share knowledge, it has become a main artery for knowledge
sharing within the Johnson Space Center. This paper
describes the team’s tenets, skills, collaborations,
accomplishments, and future initiatives
Design, Optimization, and Testing of Ventilation Fans for use in Sub-Ambient Pressure Environments

cabin conditions prescribed for Mars surface and lunar
habitats. Such fans are essential in the use of
Environmental Control and Life Support Systems for
ventilation and active cooling systems. The Variable
Atmosphere Test Facility (VATF) at NASA Marshall Space
Flight Center enables the characterization of fan
performance in sub-ambient pressure environments, allowing
for empirical analysis of fans in spaceflight-like
situations. This experiment measures the performance of a
set of fans optimized for maximum mass flow rate at a range
of static pressure rise requirements (100 Pa to 1000 Pa)
and environmental pressures (0.56 atm to 1.00 atm). For
each static pressure rise requirement and environmental
pressure, an optimization algorithm determines the fan
design maximizing mass flow rate with airfoil and rotor
analyses using XFOIL and Blade Element Momentum theory.
Variable fan design parameters include number of blades,
blade pitch and twist, blade airfoil design, and airfoil
angle of attack. Meshes for optimal design are procedurally
generated and 3D printed. Fans are tested in a test stand
mounted inside the VATF that measures flow velocity, static
pressure, and environmental conditions. Experimental
results are presented and compared. Designers may use the
presented results as a starting point for ventilation and
active cooling system designs for space habitats
The Impact of Audit Partner Credentials on Audit Efficiency and Effectiveness
This study examines the impact of audit partner credentials beyond CPA licensure on
audit efficiency and effectiveness. Using a hand-collected dataset of 48 unique credentials
held by audit partners identified in PCAOB Forms AP (2017 through 2024), I investigate
whether an auditor’s enhanced knowledge, skills, and abilities improves audit outcomes.
Results show that credentialed partners are associated with lower audit fees and reduced
discretionary accruals, indicating improvements in both efficiency and effectiveness without
sacrificing quality. These effects persist into the subsequent year, suggesting a lasting impact
of partner expertise. My findings are robust to alternative proxies for audit effectiveness, an
alternative partner specification test, and exclusion of certain partner characteristics known to
be strongly associated with audit outcomes. Analyses by credential type reveals differential
impacts: management credentials are associated with increase fees, general accounting and
assurance credentials are related to extended engagement times, and information security and
industry credentials are associated with enhanced audit effectiveness. Notably, nearly threequarters
of credentialed partners in the sample work at non-Big 4 audit firms, which see
significant gains from partner certification while Big 4 firms show no statistical
improvements. This may indicate that non-Big 4 firms utilize partner certification in their
audit engagements to leverage optimal outcomes. This research contributes to audit literature
by documenting how augmentative knowledge, skills, and abilities via structured learning
programs enhances auditor competencies and provides observable metrics for auditor acumen.
The findings suggest practical benefits for both audit firms through support of partners’
pursuits of training and development, and their issuer clients through reduced fees and higher
quality audits

The Boyd Carter Papers represent a significant archival collection housed in the Hispanic Studies Collection in Texas Tech University's CMLL building. Dr. Boyd Carter was a distinguished scholar of Latin American literature who was active from the 1940s to his death in 1980. He held professorships at the University of Nebraska, Southern Illinois University, and the University of Missouri before concluding his career at Texas Tech University (1978-1980). Upon joining TTU, Carter donated his extensive archive to the university, including rare books, microfilm collections, bibliographical notes, and periodicals focusing on Latin American literature from 1850-1950, with particular emphasis on the famed Mexican writer Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera

This dissertation, Beyond Extractivism: Cinema, Mining, and Materialisms in
Latin America, begins by proposing a distinct definition of “Latin American mining cinema” as an interdisciplinary field encompassing documentaries, feature films, animation, and experimental works centered on mining activities throughout the region. It examines how cinema engages with extractivist mining practices, exploring their social, cultural, economic, and environmental impacts, as well as the labor conditions of miners, the daily lives of surrounding communities, and the history, narratives, and representations of mining in the Latin American context.
Chapter Two offers a historical overview of twentieth-century Latin American
mining cinema, analyzing key works such as Memories of Mine El Teniente (1919), Facing Tomorrow (1962), Salt of the Earth (1954), The Courage of the People (1971), Acts of Marusia (1975), Now, We Have to Win (1978), and Ghosts in Patagonia (1997). Drawing on Michel Foucault’s concept of biopolitical control, as well as the notions of Third Cinema and militant cinema, these films illustrate the evolution of mining representations, from industrial and propagandistic narratives to politically charged critiques of state violence, culminating in the mining cinema of the 1990s. This latter period begins to tackle issues of capitalism and globalization, which take center stage in twenty-first-century mining cinema, examined in subsequent chapters through various perspectives and theoretical frameworks.
Chapter Three explores contemporary cinema’s engagement with the body and
biopolitics —encompassing both individual bodies and the concept of territory as body— by examining gendered labor, Indigenous activism, and non-human agency. Films such as Women of the Mine (2014), Gold or Life (2011), and Mother Earth’s Inner Organs (2022) draw on Indigenous communal feminism, theories of territorial dispossession, geontology, and the concept of “terminal landscapes.” In Mother Earth’s Inner Organs, non-human terrestrial entities are granted a voice by possessing human bodies, thereby protesting the imbalances caused by the mining industry. Collectively, these films reveal how extractive economies regulate bodies and territories while also highlighting
strategies of resistance founded on collective action, Indigenous identity and non-human agencies.
Chapter Four examines high-profile mining disasters transformed into media
spectacles, particularly the 2010 San José mine accident in Chile. Using George Ritzer’s concept of the “McDonaldization of culture,” it analyzes the Hollywood film The 33 (2015) and the government-produced documentary 33 to illustrate how such events are commercialized or employed for nationalist agendas, frequently eclipsing the miners’ perspectives and state accountability.
Chapter Five addresses the Argentine documentary In the Name of Lithium (2021) through concepts such as hyperobjects, transcultural materialism, and “climate lyricism.” It interrogates green capitalism discourses, scientific analyses, and the lived realities of Indigenous communities, demonstrating how cinema can foster ecological awareness and emotional resonance amid extractive pressures.
Ultimately, the dissertation highlights the central role of mining cinema in
exposing social inequities, shaping public opinion, and fostering collective action. As an accessible medium with extensive reach and emotional resonance, mining cinema can reshape public perceptions, ignite meaningful debate, and inspire collective efforts to reform mining industry practices. By bridging the gap between viewers and affected communities, it amplifies marginalized voices and encourages a critical examination of potential pathways toward a more equitable, ethical, and sustainable future for the people, communities, and ecosystems impacted by mining extractivism
Machining Limits of Energetic Materials in Vertical Lathing with Vacuum Chuck Fixturing
Prior investigations into the thermomechanical behavior of energetic material in machining applications have established operational parameter spaces that surpass the limitations set by DOE-STD-1212-2019, demonstrating high throughput material processing where phase change or critical temperatures were not reached. While previous research confirmed safety and feasibility, past studies relied on conventional hard chuck fixturing, leaving the behavior of vacuum chucking largely unexplored. The efficacy of vacuum chuck fixturing is emulated with unfavorable machining conditions to characterize force interactions, fixturing stability, and deformation mechanics to establish safe operational regimes. A variety of inert material tests are performed to establish key vacuum fixture failure modes including poor vacuum, surface contamination and moisture. In parallel, forces acting on energetic workpieces are evaluated, considering variations in cutting parameters, tool geometry, and fixture configurations. These tests provide critical insights into best practices to optimize vacuum chucking performance

Increasing Differentiated Instruction in Title I Schools: A Qualitative Content Analysis of a Title I Middle School's Instructional Differentiated Development and Teacher Performance
This study explores the effectiveness of differentiated instruction in a Title I middle school setting, focusing on its impact on both teacher and student performance, with an emphasis on turnaround leadership. Title I schools often face challenges in ensuring academic growth across diverse student groups. Differentiated instruction, an approach tailored to meet the varied learning needs of students, is a crucial component to improving student achievement. However, many teachers lack the necessary
instructional strategies and support to implement this approach effectively, resulting in stagnated student performance. This research aims to enhance teacher capacity through targeted professional development on differentiated instruction, focusing on reading and language arts. The study utilizes an action research model to implement professional development, observe classroom practices, and provide feedback to identify strategies to increase teacher and student performance. Turnaround leadership, with its focus on improving teaching quality and school-wide culture, plays a critical role in supporting teachers and driving change. Data sources include teacher surveys, classroom walkthroughs, and student achievement data. The goal is to evaluate whether targeted professional development for teachers, supported by turnaround leadership, leads to higher levels of performance for both teachers and students
