Enhancing perinatal health patient information through ChatGPT ::an accuracy study
Objectives : To evaluate ChatGPT's accuracy as information source for women and maternity-care workers on “nutrition” and “red flags” in pregnancy.
Methods : Accuracy of ChatGPT-generated recommendations was assessed by a 5-point Likert scale by eight raters for ten indicators per topic in four languages (French, English, German and Dutch). Accuracy and interrater agreement were calculated per topic and language.
Results : For both topics, median accuracy scores of ChatGPT-generated recommendations were excellent (5.0; IQR 4–5) independently of language. Median accuracy scores varied with a maximum of 1 on a 5-point Likert-scare according to question's framing. Overall accuracy scores were 83–89 % for ‘nutrition in pregnancy’ versus 96–98 % for ‘red flags in pregnancy’. Inter-rater agreement was good to excellent for both topics.
Conclusion : Although ChatGPT generated accurate recommendations regarding the tested indicators for nutrition and red flags during pregnancy, women should be aware of ChatGPT's limitations such as inconsistencies according to formulation, language and the woman's personal context.
Innovation : Despite a growing interest in the potential use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, this is, to the best of our knowledge, the first study assessing potential limitations that may impact accuracy of ChatGPT-generated recommendations such as language and question-framing in key domains of perinatal health
At a time when urban policies are calling for ever greater involvement and participation on the part of local residents, we took an interest in voluntary care work carried out by women in community centers in French-speaking Switzerland – an activity that has historically been invisible, for a number of reasons. Putting care into an ethical perspective makes it possible to rethink participatory models, and to take a close look at the transition between taking care of someone close to you and forms of commitment in public. This approach opens up an interesting avenue of intervention, based on what the women with whom we have worked collectively in a socio-cultural center are and are doing, in order to promote and strengthen the processes of participation in public life, but this time ‘from below’, i.e. by the women themselves
Fabrication of a microheater based on silver-polyimide metallization with enhanced thermal and mechanical stability
The development of flexible, reliable, and cost-effective microheaters is critical for applications requiring precise thermal management. This study presents a novel approach for fabricating flexible silver microheaters using a solution-based polyimide metallization process. By integrating the surface modification ion exchange (SMIE) method with electronic craft cutting, we enhanced electrode adhesion and achieved consistent pattern quality, making the fabrication process more accessible and scalable. The heaters demonstrated excellent thermal properties with a high decomposition temperature of 620°C and enhanced thermal stability. Thermal characterization using thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry confirmed improved stability, whereas heating performance evaluation showed consistent temperature regulation. The heating performance tests showed rapid temperature increases, achieving approximately 160°C at 1.50 V and stable temperatures maintained for 60 min under continuous operation. Elemental composition and surface morphology analyses revealed a uniform distribution of silver particles and decreased porosity at higher voltages, enhancing electrical and thermal conductivity. X-ray Diffraction analysis confirmed increased crystallinity at higher voltages, which was correlated with improved material quality. The mechanical durability tests indicated that the heaters could withstand over 5000 bending cycles without significant performance degradation, confirming their robustness for flexible applications. This approach presents a scalable, low-cost alternative to traditional microheater fabrication, opening new opportunities in wearable electronics and point-of-care diagnostics
Reserves and their role in protecting against anxiety and depressive symptoms among undocumented migrants undergoing regularization
Resources help individual to function in everyday life, while reserves, a specific type of resources, help them to overcome shock and stress. Evidence is scarce about whether reserves (be they cognitive, economic or relational) protect people’s mental health in situations of temporary stress. Based on a cohort study following undocumented migrants undergoing a stressful life course transition (regularisation with local authorities), we identified which resources and reserves, and which types, better protect mental health. To examine whether reserves, and which types, are prospectively associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms, whether this association is independent of resources, and whether reserves modify the effect of regularisation on anxiety and depressive symptoms. A two-wave cohort study followed 456 undocumented migrants (mean age 44 years) from 2017 to 2020, half (48%) of whom were involved in a pilot regularisation policy implemented by the local authorities of Geneva, Switzerland. Anxiety was measured with the Generalised Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire-7 and depressive symptoms with the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Economic, cognitive and relational reserves were measured at baseline, as well as economic and relational resources. Generalised Estimating Equations tested the associations of reserves and resources with anxiety and depressive symptoms, and the interaction between reserves/resources and regularisation status. Economic and relational reserves were associated with lower anxiety and depressive symptoms, independent of economic and relational resources. Cognitive reserves were not associated with lower anxiety and depressive symptoms. Regularised participants reported lower anxiety and depressive symptoms compared to non-regularised undocumented participants. Reserves did not modify the effect of regularisation on anxiety and depressive symptoms. The provision of reserves for undocumented migrants may protect mental health but may not alter the impact of regularisation on mental health. Further research is needed among vulnerable groups experiencing psychologically distressing events to test the reserve hypothesis
The body-to-body contact required in the care relationship is little theorized from the point of view of caregivers’ experience of disgust and their strategies for coping with it. Sometimes evoked in the wings of the inner circle, on the front of the stage, disgust remains forbidden, a kind of slash in the face of professional morality. Forged in the importance of relationships and respect for others, the care relationship makes little room for this experience. The palliative care situation of a 70-year-old patient suffering from a highly invasive cancer for which the odors were particularly nauseating lifts the veil on a frequent reality of the care relationship: disgust with the bodies being cared for. Beyond the exceptionality of this situation, we need to understand how it sheds light on the anthropological place that a care situation represents
