Leveraging generative AI for amplifying network effects and resolving the "chicken-and-egg" dilemma
No full textThis paper delves into the pivotal role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in harnessing network effects, offering a solution to the classic "chicken-and-egg" dilemma. Network effects, characterized by the increasing value of a product or service as its user base grows, are crucial for success in the contemporary digital landscape. We use dynamic system and agent-based models to show the impact of AI-driven bots on the online platform growth, comparing two marketplaces one with bots (Marketplace A) and one without (Marketplace B). By using synthetic data, we demonstrate that Generative AI showcases a revolutionary potential to amplify network effects. Finally, we evaluate the economic value of using AI bots and compare it with a platform solely based on user-generated content and organic user growth. The results imply that the economic values of the two marketplaces are converging in total

No full textThis study explores the increasingly important online dimension of entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs), an area that has received little research attention despite its increasing relevance in today’s digital world. Focusing on the context of a university incubator, we aim to understand how integrating online elements into entrepreneurship support affects new venture development. Through semistructured interviews with entrepreneurs, our findings indicate that online elements facilitate access to vital resources and networks, yet they can also create new challenges related to diminished interpersonal interactions. This research provides insights for practitioners and policy makers, suggesting that effective support for entrepreneurship should balance online engagement with opportunities for personal connection. This study extends the discussion on the virtualization and digitalization of EEs and its implications for fostering entrepreneurial growth and ecosystem resilience

Migration and prostitution
No full textGeographical mobility is a recurring feature of prostitution. Historical analysis shows the logics of internal migrations, since the Middle Ages of women who came from the countryside to work as domestic servants, workers in the nineteenth century or prostitutes. In addition to these internal migrations, there have been international migrations linked to colonization, wars and globalization. Politics has also played a role, sometimes as a lever of mobility, sometimes as a barrier. This overview shows the extent to which sexuality represents a migratory resource, but also the extent to which it is through this geographical mobility that access to the sex market is envisaged
Can a physical activity program improve functional capacity and fatigue in people with cancer ? ::a retrospective analysis
No full textPurpose : The primary aim was to determine the effect of a physical activity (PA) program with education sessions on walking capacity and fatigue in people with cancer. The secondary objective was to assess the factors that moderated the program’s effect on walking capacity and fatigue among sociodemographic, physical capacity and symptom-related factors. Satisfaction with the program was also evaluated. Method : A retrospective, observational study of data from a 12-week program of twice-weekly group PA sessions combined with education sessions was conducted. The 6-min walk test (6MWT), the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI-20) and program satisfaction were assessed. Paired t-tests were applied to assess changes in 6MWT and MFI-20. Multiple linear regressions were applied to determine the influence of age, gender, initial walking capacity and fatigue on the effects of the program. Results : Among the 264 participants (age 57.36 ± 12.43 years; 189 women; 134 with breast cancer), 125 (47%) completed the program. Walking capacity (+ 41.63 ± 91.00 m) and fatigue (-2.01 ± 3.77) were improved after the program (p < 0.001). Age and gender did not influence the program’s effect; however, lower initial walking capacity and higher fatigue scores were associated with larger improvements after the program. Satisfaction with the program was high among participants who completed it. Conclusions : Walking capacity and fatigue improved significantly after the PA program, but the drop-out rate was high. The program could be individualized based on an individual's initial walking capacity or fatigue score to enhance its effectiveness
Prévention et promotion de la santé pour les personnes sans‑abri
No full textLe sans‑abrisme est un phénomène en expansion en Europe et en Suisse. Il est reconnu que les personnes sans‑abri présentent un moins bon état de santé que la population générale, notamment en raison des différentes barrières d’accès au système de santé ainsi qu’aux interventions de prévention et de promotion de la santé. Pour faire face à ces défis, il est impératif de développer des approches multisectorielles et innovantes, axées sur la promotion de la santé, l’amélioration de l’accès aux soins et la coordination des efforts entre les différents acteurs du secteur social et sanitaire. Une telle approche est développée à Genève, où un projet pilote a été lancé pour répondre aux besoins spécifiques des personnes sans‑abri en matière de santé. Ce projet repose sur une collaboration étroite entre les services de santé et de soins publics, les acteurs de terrain et les services sociaux, visant à créer un réseau de soins et de soutien accessible et adapté à cette population.Homelessness is a growing social phenomenon in Europe and Switzerland. It is recognized that the homeless population has a poorer health status than the general population due to various barriers to accessing the healthcare system, including preventive health interventions. To meet these challenges, it is imperative to develop innovative and multisectoral approaches, focusing on health promotion, improving access to care, and coordinating efforts between the various actors in the social and healthcare sectors. Such an approach is being developed in Geneva, where a pilot project has been launched to address the specific health needs of homeless people. This project is based on a close collaboration between different health and social service providers, aiming at creating a care and support network that is accessible and adapted to this population
Call for a consensual definition of dyslipidemia in coronary angiography trials
No full textDyslipidemia is extensively analyzed in clinical trials investigating its role as a risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). However, its definition varies vastly among studies, leading to different attributions to the variable dyslipidemia. The objectives of this study are to verify the hypothesis of a lack of a consensual definition of dyslipidemia in coronary angiography studies and to propose a consensual definition of dyslipidemia, considering the influence of each serum lipid parameter on mortality. A systematic search of coronary angiography studies focusing on dyslipidemia was conducted. We listed definitions and their references in the 258 articles the research found. Out of the 258 articles retrieved in the search, 52 studies (20%) provided a definition of dyslipidemia, and 20 (8%) mentioned the source. We identified 39 different definitions. To mitigate misinterpretations of cardiovascular risk factors, we propose the use of the “lipid triad” components to define dyslipidemia: LDL-cholesterol >3.0 mmol/L for primary prevention and >2.6 mmol/L or >1.4 mmol/L for secondary prevention in patients over/under 75 years old, respectively; or HDL-cholesterol 1.7 mmol/L
