Replacement includes Removable partial denture, Fixed partial denture and Complete denture. In this situation, Dental implants play a pivotal role in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dental implants have been classified as immediate, delayed immediate and conventional implants. It exhibits a long term process and good follow up. The majority of the population wants to shorten the treatment period. As per the patient’s concern, immediate implant techniques were established. Herewith a comparative study on immediate implant with bone graft alone and bone graft along with Platelet rich fibrin. We met with some errors and good results which have been discussed in this study

    Assessing the Effect of Nonsurgical Periodontal Treatment on Serum Nitric Oxide Levels in Smoke and Smokeless Tobacco Users with Chronic Periodontitis: A Clinical study

    INTRODUCTION: Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition that develops by the interactions of the host immune system and the dysbiotic subgingival microbiota. Along with bacterial stimuli, the tobacco usage increases the overall oxidative burden in the body, as it has more amounts of free radicals and it can also increase the reactive nitrogen species in the oral cavity, that may be the cause of periodontal tissue destruction. The different types of tobacco, either it may be a smoking/smokeless may give as one of the major risk factors of periodontal inflammation. The treatment option for periodontal disease is still focused on effective mechanical debridement on tooth surface such as scaling and root planning. By removing the local factors, the non surgical periodontal therapy (phase I therapy) will decrease overall bacterial load in the oral cavity, that will help to decrease the oxidative stress in the periodontal health. AIM OF THE STUDY: The aim of the study was to assess the effect of nonsurgical periodontal treatment on serum nitric oxide levels in smoke and smokeless tobacco users with chronic periodontitis MATERIALS AND METHODS: 90 volunteers with chronic periodontitis aged between 30-55 years were classified into 3 groups with 30 patients in each group. They were Group A (chronic periodontitis), Group B (chronic periodontitis + smoking tobacco users) and Group C (chronic periodontitis + smokeless tobacco chewers. After thorough clinical examination, plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), periodontal probing depth (PPD) and clinical attachment level (CAL) were recorded, serum samples were collected from the patients at baseline and after non surgical periodontal therapy to evaluate nitric oxide level by ELISA method. RESULTS: Chronic periodontitis patients with non-smoker, smoker and tobacco chewer showed the presence of nitric oxide level in serum. The nitric oxide level was great in smokers and tobacco chewers as it showed positive correlation with tobacco users. After 6 weeks of non-surgical periodontal therapy all the parameters for each groups of Group A, Group B, Group C were significantly reduced (p<0.05) from the baseline with 95% confidence interval for mean. CONCLUSION: Non-surgical periodontal therapy showed valuable effect in decreasing the nitric oxide level with no significancy between non-smoker, smoker and tobacco chewer in periodontitis patients. Thus, the concentration of nitric oxide in serum can be used as a suitable biomarker in the inflammatory periodontium

    Evaluation of In Vitro Cytotoxicity of Heat Cure Denture Base Resin with Tertiary Amine

    AIM AND OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxicity of TPP (MMA) incorporated with CQ-MA complex at 5%, 10% and 15% concentration by tetrazolium assay employing human keratinocytes (HK) and human gingival fibroblasts (HF). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-six disk-shaped processed specimens were divided into a control group A (n = 9; comprising specimens made without CQ-MA complex) and three trial groups B, C, and D (n = 9 each; specimens prepared by substituting CQ-MA complex in TP-(PMMA) at 5%, 10% and 15% (v/v) concentration). Human keratinocytes (HK) and human gingival fibroblasts (HF) were used and MTT assay by elution method was employed to assess in vitro cytotoxicity. A plain cell culture with culture medium was taken as negative control and considered for base line comparisons. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with post hoc Tukey’s honestly significant difference (HSD) test was used to compare the mean optical density (OD) values and cell viability percentage (CV%) among and between the groups. RESULTS: A statistically significant difference was obtained (p = .000) for OD and CV% when the groups were compared. Highest OD value and CV% was obtained for group D and the least for group A. Multiple comparisons showed statistically significant differences (p = .000) between the groups concerning OD values and CV%. CONCLUSION: Addition of CQ-MA complex in TP-P(MMA) has cell viability greater than 70% and cytocompatible to HK and HF cells
