[The correlation between mother’s knowledge regarding nutrition with the prevalence of stunting among children aged 12-59 months within the area of Tegallalang I Primary Health Centre] Stunting is condition when a toddler exhibits a height or length that falls below the median standard growth set by WHO, with a deviation of more than minus two standard deviations. Stunting arises due to chronic malnutrition during the initial 1000 days of a child's life. The main aims of this research are to establish the correlation between the level of maternal comprehension regarding nutrition and the occurrence of stunting among toddlers aged 12-59 months within the jurisdiction of Tegallalang I Primary Health Centre, Gianyar Regency. The research methodology applied for this investigation is a quantitative analytical study with a case-control designs. The total sample size were 96 respondents, evenly divided between 48 cases and 48 controls. The sample technique employed is consecutive sampling for the control group and total sampling for the case group. The sampling methods was consecutive sampling  to ensuring the inclusion of all qualifying subjects in attained the required sample size. Data were gathered through the assessment of height or length measurements and the completion of questionnaires. Data were analysed used chi-square analysis to examine the relationship between the mother’s knowledge of nutrition and stunting prevalence. The findings indicated a significant correlation betweens the mother knowledge about nutrition and the occurrence of stunting, with a significance level of < 0.001. As a result, mothers with inadequate nutritional knowledge may contribute to an increased risk of stunting in toddlers, as those with less knowledge experienced a 19.35-fold rise in stunting cases among toddlers aged 12 untill 59 months within the working area of Tegallalang I Primary Health Centre.

Background Post-stroke cognitive impairment is the leading cause of post-stroke morbidity and mortality worldwide. This impairment is often associated with ischemic stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage. Cognitive impairment could affect attention, memory, language, orientation, and executive and social functioning domains. Case We reported a male patient, 45 years old, Javanese, who came with confusion and memory impairment. When asked a question, the patient tends to think and answer slowly with a wrong response. He also felt weakness in the right half of the body, slurred speech, pursed lips, and had been diagnosed with ischemic stroke. One week after he was sent home, patient still had difficulty arranging words to form a sentence and could not work. Cognitive function screening showed impairment in attention and memory domain with a MOCA-INA score of 19/30. Patients received antihypertensive therapy, dual antiplatelet, statin, and cognitive stimulation. His condition improved with this treatment. Conclusion Early identification of cognitive impairment could reduce morbidity in stroke patients. &nbsp

Background The global mortality rate for coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) continues to climb. The study goal is to provide a proper equation to predict mortality in COVID-19 patients based on medical history, and laboratory examination Methods This was a case-control study. Patients with COVID-19 confirmed case was taken for medical history, physical, and laboratory examination. CBC and D-Dimer were checked when patients were admitted to the hospital. Statistical analysis that was use include Chi-Square or Fisher’s test as comparative study, risk estimate for odds ratio, and logistic regression to formulated the equation. Results Ninety-six patients were gathered at the end of study. The study grouped patients based on survival at end of care which is life and death as dependent variable. We also grouped patients based on several parameter like geriatric age, comorbidities, symptoms (fever, cough, anosmia, cold, dysphagia, and shortness of breath), anemia, leukocytosis/leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, elevated D-Dimer, and pneumonia, as independent variables. Geriatric, comorbidities, fever, cough, shortness of breath, anemia, leukocytosis/leucopenia, lymphopenia, and elevated D-Dimer had significant differences with p < 0.05. Odds ratio and 95%CI for these parameters were 3.02 (1.11-8.20), 4.07 (1.35-12.27), 3.57 (0.96-13.23), 5.04 (1.08-23.34), 4.75 (1.02-22.02), 3.26 (1.15-9.25), 6.40 (2.19-18.63), 3.16 (0.97-10.30), and 0.70 (0.61-0.81), respectively. Multivariate analysis using logistic regression based on this result was calculated and we were able to make this probability equation, p = 1/(1+e-y), with e =2.7, and y = - 24.99 + 1.621(comorbidities) + 1.944(cough) + 1.643(leukocytosis/leukopenia) + 1.397(anemia) + 20.625(elevated D-Dimer). ROC was use to confirm this predicted probability with AUC 0.88 Conclusion This equation was simple enough to be used as tool for clinician to predict mortality in COVID-19 patients. If we were to assume that for example patient with COVID-19 with comorbidities had cough as symptoms, and also had leukocytosis/leukopenia, anemia, and elevated D-Dimer level based on laboratory result, then that patient had 90.25% probability of death as outcome. The study was able to predict death in COVID-19 patients with up to 90.25% probability using our equation with excellent discrimination between these patients &nbsp

The Meaning of Symbols in Nunas nede Ritual Tradition in Kesik Village

    No full text
Nunas nede is a cultural ritual inherited from the ancestors of Kesik Village, Masbagik District, East Lombok. The nunas nede tradition is believed to be an expression of a request for rain and gratitude for the blessings of fertile agricultural land and harvests that have been given to the people of Kesik Village. The nunas nede tradition consists of two core activities, namely ngayu ayu and gawe adat (core event). Each procession in the Nunas nede tradition is a symbol of the beliefs of the people of Kesik Village. These symbols describe the meaning in the Nunas nede tradition. This research was conducted to analyze the meaning of the Nunas nede tradition using Clifford Geertz's symbolic interpretive theory. There are three concepts in Geertz's theory, namely the knowledge or cognitive system (mode of), the value or evaluative system (mode for); and (3) symbol system. These three concepts will produce a system of meaning from the nunas nede tradition. The results of the research show that the symbols in the nunas nede tradition are the begibung symbol meaning establishing ties of friendship and social equality in society, the dulang  symbol meaning gratitude, the nyawik symbol meaning maintaining the balance of nature and the spring symbol meaning the source of life. From these symbols, the meaning of the nunas nede tradition is obtained, a request for rain to fall as well as a form of community gratitude which is a link between friendship and strengthening family ties, by working together to maintain the balance of the universe which is the source of life

    No full text
This paper examines how the use of grammatical cohesion contributes to the coherent of the news discourse in The Jakarta Post reporting on the war between Russia and Ukraine. It identifies and analyzes grammatical cohesion, specifically reference, substitution, and ellipsis, which exist in the news text to bring coherence in the news text. The results revealed the most dominant type of references applied in the text were anaphoric references, and these references are very important to ensure the integrity and readability of the text. The study therefore reveals a lack of substitution because there is the need for precision in war reporting. The insights gained contribute to a deeper understanding of how linguistic devices are employed in the media to build cohesive and coherent narratives, offering valuable implications for both discourse analysis and English language education
