RECOGNITION OF CHARACTER FROM VIDEO SUBTITLES
An important task in content based video indexing is to extract text information from videos. The challenges involved in text extraction and recognition are variation of illumination on each video frame with text, the text present on the complex background and different font size of the text. Using various image processing algorithms like morphological operations, blob detection and histogram of oriented gradients the character recognition of video subtitles is implemented. Segmentation, feature extraction and classification are the major steps of character recognition. Several experimental results are shown to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm
Quantitative indexing and tardigrade analysis of exoplanets
Search of life elsewhere in the galaxy is very fascinating area for planetary scientists and astrobiologists. Earth Similarity Index (ESI) is defined as geometrical mean of four physical parameters (Such as radius, density, escape velocity and surface temperature), which is ranging from 1 (identical to Earth) to 0 (dissimilar to Earth). In this work, ESI is re-defined as six parameters by introducing the two new physical parameters like revolution and surface gravity and is called as New Earth Similarity Index (NESI). The main focus of this paper is to search Tardigrade water-life on exoplanets by varying the temperature parameter in NESI, which is called as Tardigrade Similarity Index (TSI), which is ranging from 1 (Potentially Tardigrade can survive) to 0 (Tardigrade Cannot survive). Multimodal biometric authentication algorithm at score level fusion using hybrid optimization
Biometric is emerging technology in identification and authentication of human being with more reliable and accurate. Combining multiple biometric systems is a promising solution to provide more security. It eliminates the disadvantages of unimodal biometric systems such as non-universality, noise in sensed data, intra-class variations, distinctiveness, spoof attacks and traditional method of authenticating a human and their identity. The proposed method depicts a multimodal biometric algorithm is designed to recognize individuals for robust and secured authentication using normalized score level fusion techniques with hybrid Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization for optimization in order to reduce False Acceptance Rate and False Rejection Rate and to enhance Equal Error Rate and Accuracy.
Arithmetic relaxation time of induced polarization fractal dimension for characterizing Shajara Reservoirs of the Shajara Formation, Saudi Arabia
Sandstone samples were collected from the surface type section of the Shajara Formation of the Permo-Carboniferous Unayzah Group for detailed reservoir characterization. Capillary pressure experiment was performed to contact porosity and permeability was derived from the Data. Arithmetic relaxation time of induced polarization was calculated from the distribution of Permeability and the fractal dimension was calculated from the relationship between wetting phase saturation and Arithmetic relaxation time of induced polarization. In addition to field observation and obtained results of fractal dimension values, the Shajara reservoirs of the Shajara Formation of the permo-Carboniferous Unayzah Group were divided here into three fractal dimension units. The Units from base to top are: Lower, Middle, and Upper Shajara Arithmetic Relaxation Time Fractal dimension Units. It was also reported that the obtained fractal dimension speeds with increasing permeability and relaxation time due to an increase in pore connectivity
Synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones catalyzed by Perchlorated Zirconia (HClO4/ZrO2) nanoparticles as a novel solid acid catalyst
Zirconia was synthesized in nanosize by sol-gel method and perchlorated zirconia (HClO4/ZrO2) with various calcination temperatures were prepared and characterized by XRD, FTIR and SEM techniques. The catalyst acidity characters, including the acidicstrength and the total number of acid sites were determined by potentiometric titration. The catalytic performance experiments show that the HClO4/ZrO2 with calcination temperature of 300 °C has the best catalytic activity. 2,3-Dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones wereprepared in good to excellent yields via condensation reaction of oaminobenzamide and various types of aldehydes and ketones in the presence of HClO4/ZrO2 nanoparticles as an efficient solid acid catalyst. A STUDY ON SOIL STABILIZATION USING FLY ASH
The objective of this paper is to determine the optimum fly ash content at which soil behavior is improved. Soil improvement is termed as soil stabilization. Soil stabilization depends on factors such as unconfined compression, cohesion, shear load, consolidation and permeability of soil and CBR value of soil. Fly ash is a thermal waste. Nearly half of the fly ash generated is not been used, hence usage of fly ash will reduce waste. Test conducted were sieve analysis, specific gravity, standard proctor compaction, unconfined compression, direct shear, free swell index, variable head permeability and consolidation for black cotton soil. Test also was conducted on soil replaced with fly ash in the level of 5%, 10% and 15%. Among the various replacement tried out, better results were observed for soil replaced with 10% of fly ash. Beyond the 10% level of replacement a reduction in performance was observed. Hence fly ash can be used for soil stabilization up to 10% replacement
Statistical mechanics of hard spheres: the scaled particle theory of the hard sphere fluid revisited
The aim of this paper is to exhaust the possibilities offered by the scaled particle theory as far as possible and to confirm the reliability of the virial coefficients found in the literature, especially the estimated ones: B i for i > 11. In a previous article (J.Math.Phys.36,201,1995) a theoretical equation of state for the hard sphere fluid was derived making use of the ideas of the so called scaled particle theory which has been developed by Reiss et al.(J.Chem.Phys.31,369,1959). It contains two parameters which could be calculated. The equation of state agrees with the simulation data up to high densities, where the fluid is metastable. The derivation was besed on a generalized series expansion. The virial coefficients B 2 , B 3 and B 4 are exactly reproduced and B 5 , B 6 and B 7 to within small deviations, but the higher ones up to B 18 are systematically and significantly smaller than the values found in the literature. The scaled particle theory yields a number of equations of which only four were used. In this paper we make use of seven equations to calculate the compressibility factors of the fluid. They agree with the simulation data slightly better than those yielded by the old equation. Moreover, the differences between the calculated virial coefficients B i and those found in the literature up to B 18 are very small (less than 4 percent)
Practical Research on Electroless Copper Plating Technology on Ceramic Surface
Deposited electroless copper layer on ceramic matrix by using formaldehyde reduction copper plating system to complete DPC seed layer. Used orthogonal experiment, single factor analysis and other methods to optimize solution parameters, the optimum parameters of electroless copper plating bath are as follows: Cu SO4 8g/L, C4H4O6KNa·4H2O 40g/L, HCHO 10g/L, temperature 35 ℃and time 30min respectively. Adopted scotch tape, microstructure, composition analysis, temperature cycling test and a variety of other test methods to comprehensively analyze the performance of the electroless copper layer, it turned out that electroless copper has fine electrical and mechanical performance
Risk perception normalization of sunlight exposure
Health organizations recommend avoiding direct sunlight exposure usually between 11 am and 5 pm. Nevertheless, it is common to see people on the beach during all day. This study focuses on understanding if sunlight exposure risk might be normalized. Risk normalization is a process by which people minimize a perceive threat to psychologically cope with it, frequently by using positive illusions. A pilot study (N = 44) suggests that the positive illusions most referred to explain exposition at unrecommended hours are the use of protective measures. To explore if knowledge of sunlight exposure risk and risk perception were negatively associated, illustrating risk normalization, a questionnaire was applied to a convenience sample (N = 276). This effect was found among those individuals that exposed themselves to sunlight between 12 am and 3 pm and reported a use of protective measures that was above the average. Furthermore, health literacy moderated the negative relation between knowledge and risk perception. This study suggests that it is important communicating that the use of protective measures during unrecommended hours does not guarantee protection, promoting health literacy, as it can minimize risk normalization, and understanding how information on risks and benefits interacts to influence risk perception
