This release contains the source code used for Chapter 5 of the PhD thesis "Global Inference and Local Syntax Representations for Event Extraction". It contains the implementation of the modular, graph-based event extractor described there.
Furthermore, the release contains five models produced with the Graph Convolution Network and an repeated negative undersampling probability of 0.9. These five models can either be used alone, or, as intended, as part of a boostrap aggregating implementation of the event extractor.

Normalization of HE-Stained Histological Images using Cycle Consistent Generative Adversarial Networks [Dataset]
Here we provide the data sets supporting the experiments in our publication Normalization of HE-Stained Histological Images using Cycle Consistent Generative Adversarial Networks, which were collected at the Institute of Pathology, Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University.
The HE-Staining Variation (HEV) data set offers serial sections of a follicular thyroid carcinoma, stained with different HE-staining protocols (including name of [stainVariant]):
stained with HE with the standard protocol of the Institute of Pathology, Mannheim (HE)

stained too short with HE (shortHE)
stained only with Hematoxylin (onlyH)

We provided the original whole-slide-images (WSI) in the folder HEV_wsi.zip for each stain-variant.
In addition, for the stain-variants 1-5 we provide patches (n ~40,000 for each set) of size 256x256 pixels and split them into 60% train (train_[stainVariant].zip) and 40% test (test_[stainVariant].zip) sets .
Patches from our TumorLymphnode data set for image classification are provided inside tumorLymphnode_patches.zip. It contains ~3,600 patches of size 165x165 pixels for each class normal lymph nodes (normal) and carcinoma infiltration (tumor).

Implementing (Un)fair Procedures: Containing Favoritism When Unequal Outcomes are Inevitable [Dataset]
We study the selection of people when unequal payoffs are inevitable, but fair
procedures are feasible, as in selecting one person from several candidates for
a job. We show that allocators may be influenced by their similarity with a recipi-
ent, leading to favoritism in outcomes. We study four interventions to reduce favoritism and induce fair procedures, without restricting the allocator’s decisions:
transparency of the allocation process; a private randomization device; allowing the allocator to delegate to a public randomization device; and allowing the allocator to avoid information about recipients. Making use of beliefs and fairness judgments, we show why some interventions work, while others do not
Experiencing Risk: Higher-Order Risk Attitudes in Description- and Experience-Based Decisions [Dataset]
Risky decisions are often characterized by (a) imprecision about consequences and their likelihoods that can be reduced by information collection, and by (b) unavoidable background risk. This article addresses both aspects by eliciting risk attitude, prudence, and temperance in decisions from description and decisions from experience. The results reveal a novel description-experience gap for prudence and replicate the known gap for risky decisions. While widespread prudence has been observed in decisions
form description, we find no evidence of prudent decision making from experience. In decisions from experience people are strongly influenced by the sampled mean, while skewness plays a smaller role than in decisions from description

The "Turkologischer Anzeiger/Turkology Annual" (TA), founded by Andreas Tietze (†) and György Hazai (†), is an indispensable systematic bibliography for Turkology and Ottoman Studies. Experts from all over the world contribute to its compilation, which is funded by several institutions including the UNESCO. The volumes edited by the Department of Oriental Studies of the University of Vienna have until now (2021) only appeared in printed form. In a project of the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe” the data was produced between 2009 and 2011. the project digitized the first 26 published volumes at the local MediaLab and produced quality OCR full text using the Abbyy FineReader software. Team members from the Department of Computational Linguistics then analysed and parsed the data into a database. With the end of the project, maintenance of the database became difficult and had to be stopped eventually. Because of the personal engagement of Dustin Heckmann, one of the former project members, not only the data was secured, but also the parsing itself significantly improved. Data provided here shows the last updates from HCTS side (Dustin Heckmann), which are almost complete. Since 2019 the Heidelberg University Library made efforts to transform the project output into a vuFind database. By 2023, all data was migrated to the Fachinformationsdienst Nahost-, Nordafrika- und Islamstudien (Specialised Information Service Middle East-, North Africa- and Islamic Studies), where the web-frontend can be accessed at https://ta.bibliothek.uni-halle.de/
The costs of creatinine testing in the context of a HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis demonstration project in Eswatini [Research Data]
HIV treatment and prevention as well as other chronic disease care can require regular kidney function assessment based on a creatinine test. To assess the costs of creatinine testing in a public health care system, we conducted activity-based costing during a HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) demonstration project in the Hhohho region of Eswatini. Resource use was assessed by a laboratory technician and valued with government procurement prices, public sector salaries, and own cost estimates. Obtaining a blood sample in a clinic and performing a creatinine test in a high-throughput referral laboratory (> 660,000 blood tests, including > 120,000 creatinine tests, in 2018) were estimated to have cost, on average, 1.95 were variable costs ($1.38 personnel, ¢39 consumables, and ¢18 other costs) and ¢2.6 were allocated semi-fixed costs (¢1.1 laboratory equipment, ¢0.85 other, ¢0.45 consumables, and ¢1.3 personnel costs). Simulating different utilization of the laboratory indicated that semi-fixed costs of the laboratory (e.g., equipment purchase or daily calibration of the chemistry analyzer) contributed less than variable costs (e.g., per-test personnel time and test reagents) to the average creatinine test cost when certain minimum test numbers can be maintained. Our findings suggest, first, lower creatinine testing costs than previously used in cost and cost-effectiveness analyses of HIV services and, second, that investment in laboratory equipment imposed a relatively small additional cost on each performed test in the high-throughput referral laboratory
Let the team fix it? - Performance and mood of depressed workers and coworkers in different work contexts [Research data]
Depression in the workplace is a significant factor for reduced personal well-being and productivity. Consequently, this has negative effects on the economic success of the companies in which depressed people are employed. In addition, the economy has to deal with the significant burden of this illness on the health system. In this paper, we investigated how different working contexts —working in a group or individually—influenced depressed individuals towards higher or lower well-being and productivity. We examined this using a laboratory experiment. In this setting, we were also able to analyze how, in turn, a depressive individual impacted the productivity and affective situation of their workgroup, reflecting the company perspective. The experimental design mimicked the very basic processes of a workplace in a stylized way. We used two distinct samples: subclinically and clinically depressed, both working in a group with healthy controls. As expected, we found generally lower performance in the clinically depressed sample, but in the subclinically depressed sample, we only found this in the individual work context. In contrast to our expectations, the performance of subclinically depressed individuals working in groups with healthy controls was even higher than that of healthy controls in homogenously healthy groups. The performance of the entire group with a depressed member was lower for the sample with clinically manifested depression, while the performance of groups with a subclinically depressed participant was significantly higher than the performance of homogeneously non-depressed control groups. We discuss our results with a focus on the design of workplaces to both re-integrate clinically depressed employees and prevent subclinically depressed employees from developing major depression

Felsbilder Ägyptens weisen eine Problematik bezüglich ihrer sicheren Datierung und ihrer kulturellen Kontextualisierung auf. Daher wird in dieser Arbeit ein Interpretationszugang gewählt, der sich auf eine räumliche Analyse stützt und die Verwendung der Felsbilder als Zeichen in einem Kommunikationsprozess betrachtet. Als Fallbeispiele wurden Felsbilder der Zentralen Ostwüste und des Wadi Berber in Assuan, gewählt. Die räumliche Analyse umfasst die kontextuelle Einbettung in die rekonstruierte naturräumliche Landschaft und der konkreten sozio-ökonomisch genutzten Plätze. Der semiotische Zugang untersucht die Felsbilder als Zeichen innerhalb eines Systems graphischer Informationsverarbeitung, um sich so der Funktionsweise der Bilder anzunähern
