Engaging in Twitter thematic content analysis to understand the political messages of the Jokowi-Amin and Prabowo-Sandi success teams in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election
This article discusses religious and religious symbols narrated as political commodities in the 2019 presidential election on the twitter platform. The battle for narratives in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election was colored by the use of these issues on social media, this has led to increased sensitivity between religions and increasing issues of intolerance. For this reason this research has been conducted to investigate the categories of political messages narrated in tweets during the seven months of the 2019 presidential election campaign. Twitter, which was published on 23 September 2018 to 13 April 2019. based on the findings of this study, it shows that the success team of the two candidate pairs in narrating religious symbols and religious symbols is divided into 6 message categories. The message categories are Commodification of Religious Greetings, Clothing as a Religious Symbol, Title as a Religious Symbol, Salat and Nyekar as Political Commodities, An Expression of Gratitude as Political Commodities, House of Worship as a Place for Political Campaign
Pinning Decision in Interconnected Systems with Communication Disruptions under Multi-Agent Distributed Control Topology
In this study, we propose a decision-making strategy for pinning-based distributed multi-agent (PDMA) automatic generation control (AGC) in islanded microgrids against stochastic communication disruptions. The target microgrid is construed as a cyber-physical system, wherein the physical microgrid is modeled as an inverter-interfaced autonomous grid with detailed system dynamic formulation, and the communication network topology is regarded as a cyber-system independent of its physical connection. The primal goal of the proposed method is to decide the minimum number of generators to be pinned and their identities amongst all distributed generators (DGs). The pinning-decisions are made based on complex network theories using the genetic algorithm (GA), for the purpose of synchronizing and regulating the frequencies and voltages of all generator bus-bars in a PDMA control structure, i.e., without resorting to a central AGC agent. Thereafter, the mapping of cyber-system topology and the pinning decision is constructed using deep-learning (DL) technique, so that the pinning-decision can be made nearly instantly upon detecting a new cyber-system topology after stochastic communication disruptions. The proposed decision-making approach is verified using a 10-generator, 38-bus microgrid through time-domain simulation for transient stability analysis. Simulations show that the proposed pinning decision making method can achieve robust frequency control with minimum number of active communication channels
The synergetic effect of initial accounting courses, students performance and professional guidance on accounting career
Accounting career has received criticisms right from the University students, Accounting Professional Bodies and the Business World at large. Organizations both public and private sectors have all pointed figures at the poor quality of accounting graduates which Universities are producing. The main objective of this study was to assess the synergetic effect of Initial Accounting Courses, Students Performance and Professional Guidance on Accounting Career. The rationale was that students who performed well in the Initial Accounting courses were expected to excel in the other advanced accounting courses, given the chronological nature of accounting courses. Students were also expected to transfer the same knowledge to the accounting practice in the business world. This would be possible due to students’ relatively higher understanding and appreciation of accounting. It was also expected that Professional Guidance specific to the Accounting Career gave students adequate insights into the discipline that heightened the probability of their choosing Accounting Career. A conceptual framework was used to explain the key factors studied that indicated the interactive relationships amongst them. Four Theories were used including; Wearing Two Hats Theory, Social Learning Theory, Theory of Consumer Behaviour and Theory of Reasoned Action. The population of the study were the Bachelors of Commerce students from 29 Kenyan Universities. The sample comprised of the selected Bachelors of Commerce students from the selected twelve Kenyan Universities. The study adopted a cross sectional research design with a mixture of purposive and stratified random sampling techniques. A pilot study was conducted to test the validity and reliability of the study instruments. A researcher designed questionnaire was used to collect data from sampled students. Logistic regression model was used to test the null hypothesis which was rejected at 5% level of significance. The findings revealed a positive significant synergetic effect of The First Course in Accounting, Students Performance and Professional Guidance on Accounting Career. The study concluded that the synergetic effect of the three variables were greater than the sum of the individual variables. The study’s contribution to knowledge is that the survival of Accounting Career should be pegged on the synergetic effect of the First Course in Accounting, Students Performance and Professional Guidance. Unless this is adopted, Accounting Career’s survival will still be at a risk and therefore remain unresolved
PID-Type Iterative Learning Control for Output Tracking Gearing Transmission Systems
In this paper, we propose a modified version of the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID)-type iterative learning algorithm. It is very simple to implement on a digital control device for tracking control a continuous-time system. Matlab software is used to model and simulate control algorithms. The simulative application of it to control a gearing transmission system, such that its output response follows the desired trajectory, is then carried out computationally. Obtained studying results proves that this proposed iterative learning algorithm has provided a good output tracking behavior as expected and which is robust in the sense of reducing external disturbance effects
Indigenous people’s education, career aspirations, career choice and challenges among senior high school students in rural communities in Palawan
The study aims to determine the Indigenous people’s education, career aspirations, career choice, and challenges among senior high school students in rural communities in Palawan. The qualitative and quantitative methods used in the study. Mean, frequency counts, percentages, T-test, and Pearson Moment Correlation were employed. Results revealed that most of the parents had ages 39-44 years old, female, high school level, farmers, and earned below 1,000. As for ethnicity, most of them belong to the Palawan tribe, had 3-4 number of children, and a cash conditional transfer recipient. It also revealed that most of the learners had ages between 18-19 years old, female, Palawan, the first child in the family, enrolled under Technical Vocational and Livelihood, and traveled 5 kilometers distance of residence to the school. There is no significant relationship Between Parent-Respondents Profile and Career Aspirations of the Learners except in parents’ age. There is no significant Relationship Between Learner-Respondents Profile and their Career Aspirations except in age, sex, and track profile. There is no significant relationship between the demographic profile of the parents and the educational challenges except in parent’s occupation, cash conditional transfer recipient, and several children. There is no significant relationship between the learner’s demographic profile and the educational challenges except in distance from school, birth order, and sex. There is a significant difference between career aspirations among learners and their parents, while there is no significant difference between the career choice among indigenous learners and their parents and educational challenges among learners and parents
The incredible boong gi: Educational game RPG for mathematical understanding ability
Some of the android-based mobile game genres that are currently very popular such as adventure, first-person shooter, fighting, racing, and others. This development should provide opportunities in the field of education to make games not only for fun but also for education. The purpose of this study was to produce educational games that were valid, practical, and had potential effects to improve the mathematical understanding of the relationship and function of junior high school students. The research method used is RD (research development) using the ADDIE model. The data collection techniques used were documentation, interviews, and tests of mathematical comprehension abilities. The results obtained from the game "The Incredible Boong Gi" are valid with an average of 96.70% of expert validators and media validators. The results of the practicality questionnaire from 9 students averaged 90.32%. The results of data analysis show that educational RPG games have valid, practical criteria and have potential effects. RPG games are valid in terms of relevance, systematics, student-centered compatibility, game design, and compatibility. RPG games get practical results from implementation in small groups. Furthermore, the educational RPG prototype has the potential effect of improving students' mathematical understanding abilities. RPG games provide a fun learning atmosphere, by playing students can also learn. Making RPG games is also not difficult, according to the competence of students to be achieved and challenges the creativity of the teacher
Continuous Passive Motion Machine for Elbow Rehabilitation
Continuous Passive Machines (CPM) facilitate patients in eliminating joint stiffness after surgery and lead to a faster and more efficient recovery. However, many previous CPM machined are mechanically complicated, expensive, and lack a user interface. This paper presents a new CPM machine for elbow flexion-extension and forearm pronation-supination. The machine is simple, low-cost, and equipped with Graphical User Interface (GUI). Its mechanism is designed so that it can be used on the left or right arms interchangeably. It is developed using aluminum, perspex, and steel rods. The electrical part of the machine consists of Arduino Uno to drive the motors and a potentiometer to measure the patients’ Range of Motion (ROM). The GUI for setting the exercise parameters and monitoring the patients’ progress has been developed using MATLAB software. The experimental results show that the machine has successfully provided the repetitive desired motions. The machine realizes elbow flexion-extension and forearm pronation-supination movements with 0ᵒ-135ᵒ and 0ᵒ-90ᵒ ranges of motion (ROM), respectively. The machine is also capable of increasing the elbow joint’s ROM by 5ᵒ increments for the therapy. The results show that the machine has the potential to be used in hospitals and rehabilitation centers
An assessment of private television broadcasting operations in Nigeria
This study examines the challenges of private broadcasting in Nigeria with particular reference to African Independent Television (AIT), Yenagoa, as the case study. The wake of private broadcasting in Nigeria came with decree 38 of 1992 under the General Ibrahim Babangida Administration. This overtime leads to the dissolution of the monopoly of the publicly-owned media organizations in Nigeria, which held a monopoly and were on a steady increase in terms of their numbers as each state was created and the governor open a medium for their country. However, this study focused on the challenges the private broadcast media faced in operations and how they strive to keep afloat. The functionalist theory, pluralist, and Marxist theories created a fundamental basis for the research work. Using the survey method and questionnaire instrument, the researcher gathered responses from 60 respondents at AIT, Yenagoa, who occupied different organization positions. Thus, the researcher analyzed the data and came up with the findings that even to date, funding, access to equipment, power supply, government regulations, and the need to fully attain digitalization were some of the challenges confronting the African Independent Television (AIT), Yenagoa and by implication the private broadcast media. Therefore, the government, its agencies, CBN, and other stakeholders have been advised to help create a soft landing for private media. They have contributed a lot to improving programs' quality, faster access to new, objective, balanced reporting, and the likes
Multibody Modeling and Balance Control of a Reaction Wheel Inverted Pendulum Using LQR Controller
In this study, modeling and LQR control of a reaction wheel inverted pendulum system is described. The reaction wheel inverted pendulum model is created by using a 3D CAD platform and exported to Simscape Multibody. The multibody model is linearized to derive a state-space representation. A LQR (Linear-quadratic regulator) controller is designed and applied for balance control of the pendulum. The results show that deriving a state-space representation from multibody is an easy and effective way to model dynamic systems and balance control of the reaction wheel inverted pendulum is successfully achieved by LQR controller. Teacher education library e-resources integration assessment
Expensive technological hardware and software, prohibitively high cost of installing e-learning systems, the dedication required in terms of time and skills development, and experts required to service e-learning resources systems are some challenges developing countries face in using e-resources for teaching and learning. In the context of these challenges, this study was conducted at a library of a secondary teachers’ college Y in Zimbabwe to gain insight into the nature of E-Resources Integration. Qualitative research methods involving interviews, observations, and document analysis were used to generate data. Interviewees who volunteered were pre-services teachers, teacher educators, Librarians, and ICT personnel managing the e-resources system. Through thematic analysis, data were presented as verbatim, and narratives were interpreted to unpack meaning imbued. Findings show that power outages, poor internet connectivity, lack of e-resources awareness by prospective users, competencies in using e-resources, and computers, were factors that inhibited effective e-resources use for teaching and learning. As a recommendation, libraries should design and provide e-learning resource services that motivate learners consistent with their information needs, increasing the probability of using such resources
