    Virtual Sensors Design for Nonlinear Dynamic Systems

    The objective of the paper is virtual sensors design, estimating prescribed components of the systems state vector to solve the tasks of fault diagnosis in nonlinear systems. To solve the problem, the method called logic-dynamic approach is used, which allows to solve the problem for systems with non-smooth nonlinearities subjected to external disturbance by methods of linear algebra. According to this method, the problem is solved in three steps: at the first step, the nonlinear term is removed from the system, and the linear model invariant with respect to the disturbance is designed; at the second step, a possibility to take into account the nonlinear term and to estimate the given variable is checked; finally, the transformed nonlinear term is added to the linear model. The relations allowing to design virtual sensor of minimal dimension estimating prescribed component of the state vector of the system are obtained. The main contribution of the present paper is that a procedure to design virtual sensors of minimal dimension for nonlinear systems estimating prescribed components of the state vector is developed. This allows to reduce complexity of the virtual sensors in comparison with known papers where such sensors of full dimension are constructed. Besides, the limitations imposed on the initial system are relaxed that allow to extend a class of systems for which the virtual sensors can be constructed

    Technical and economic appraisal for harnessing a proposed hybrid energy system nexus for power generation and CO2 mitigation in Cross River State, Nigeria

    By creating hybrid energy systems and obtaining a framework that equally satisfies a continuous operation for renewable energy technology, this study presents renewable and sustainable energy options as an integral method to energy transitioning from non-renewable to renewable energy utilization in Cross River State, Nigeria. For a needed load of 2424.25 kWh/day in Cross River State, this study focused on proposing a designed hybrid energy system (HES) nexus, mitigating CO2, and appraisal of the technical and economic viability. To accomplish this, HOMER software was utilized in simulating the ideal components that suggested a HES nexus. The software enabled the selection of the optimal HES using various renewable energy sources since it predicts future electrical demand, wind speed, solar irradiation, and temperature. Economic results obtained showed that the proposed HES's Levelized cost of energy (LCOE), net present cost (NPC), and operating cost (OC) were 0.89/kWh,0.89/kWh, 10,138,702 and $134,084.37 respectively. Further technical appraisal showed that the renewable energy conversion systems (RECs) make up 78.74% of the proposed HES. The photovoltaic (PV) arrays were primarily responsible for the hybrid energy system's electricity output. The annual electrical energy output was 1,984,111kWh (89.4%), produced by the PV arrays. The generic fuel cell produced the least, at 29,957kWh/year, accounting for just 1.35% of the total electricity produced. However, the wind power plant produced 205,365kWh/year annually. Furthermore, comparing the HES with diesel-powered generators, the system achieves a net-zero carbon emission status. Therefore, it has proven to be the most reliable energy as it will solve the problem of energy demand and reduces carbon emissions in Cross River State, Nigeri

    The perceptions of the youth generation regarding the 'Buya Hamka' movie

    This study endeavors to assess and determine the perceptions of the Muhammadiyah youth cohort in the specified Yogyakarta region regarding the movie "Buya Hamka." The rationale behind this research lies in acknowledging film not solely as a source of entertainment but also as a vehicle for imparting knowledge. Buya Hamka, being an eminent national figure, merits emulation by contemporary Indonesians, particularly due to his sacrificial endeavors and unwavering dedication to the nation. Furthermore, as a Muhammadiyah luminary originating from West Sumatra, the youth within the Muhammadiyah movement should be encouraged to draw inspiration from his struggles. Employing a quantitative methodology, this research entails the distribution of questionnaires to respondents belonging to the Muhammadiyah youth cohort in the specific Yogyakarta region. These questionnaires encompass various inquiries designed to gauge their perceptions regarding the Buya Hamka film. The collected data is subsequently processed using the SPSS (Statistical Program for Social Science) application. Through the analysis of this processed data, the researchers have elucidated the viewpoints of the Muhammadiyah youth generation toward the film "Buya Hamka". The findings of this investigation underscore a correlation between the aspirations of the younger demographic for experiencing high-caliber content centered on inspirational narratives derived from national figures. This correlation is directly evident in their viewing patterns, as inferred from the SPSS data analysis articulated in the study. It demonstrates a discernible awareness among the younger generation regarding films that depict the inspiring stories of national figures, reflected in their viewing habits and the subsequent impact on those who feel inspired after watching the film, especially when the theme revolves around Buya Hamka's struggle

    Backstepping Controller for Mobile Robot in Presence of Disturbances and Uncertainties

    The objective of this work is to devise an effective control system for addressing the trajectory tracking challenge in nonholonomic mobile robots. Two primary control approaches, namely kinematic and dynamic strategies, are explored to achieve this goal. In the kinematic control domain, a backstepping controller (BSC) is introduced as the core element of the control system. The BSC is utilized to guide the mobile robot along the desired trajectory, leveraging the robot’s kinematic model. To address the limitations of the kinematic control approach, a dynamic control strategy is proposed, incorporating the dynamic parameters of the robot. This dynamic control ensures real-time control of the mobile robot. To ensure the stability of the control system, the Lyapunov stability theory is employed, providing a rigorous framework for analyzing and proving stability. Additionally, to optimize the performance of the control system, a genetic algorithm is employed to design an optimal control law. The effectiveness of the developed control approach is demonstrated through simulation results. These results showcase the enhanced performance and efficiency achieved by the proposed control strategies. Overall, this study presents a comprehensive and robust approach for trajectory tracking in nonholonomic mobile robots, combining kinematic and dynamic control strategies while ensuring stability and performance optimization

    Hand image reading approach method to Indonesian Language Signing System (SIBI) using neural network and multi layer perseptron

    Classification complexity is the main challenge in recognizing sign language through the use of computer vision to classify Indonesian Sign Language (SIBI) images automatically. It aims to facilitate communication between deaf or mute and non-deaf individuals, with the potential to increase social inclusion and accessibility for the disabled community. The comparison of algorithm performance in this research is between the neural network algorithm and multi-layer perceptron classification in letter recognition. This research uses two methods, namely a neural network and a multi-layer perceptron, to measure accuracy and precision in letter pattern recognition, which is expected to provide a foundation for the development of better sign language recognition technology in the future. The dataset used consists of 32,850 digital images of SIBI letters converted into alphabetic sign language parameters, which represent active signs. The developed system produces alphabet class labels and probabilities, which can be used as a reference for the development of more sophisticated sign language recognition models. In testing using the neural network method, good discrimination results were obtained with precision, recall and accuracy of around ±81%, while in testing using the multi-layer perceptron method around ±86%, showing the applicative potential of both methods in the context of sign language recognition. Testing of the two normalization methods was carried out four times with comparison of the normalized data, which can provide further insight into the effectiveness and reliability of the normalization technique in improving the performance of sign language recognition systems

    Mapping dengue vulnerability: spatial cluster analysis reveals patterns in Central Java, Indonesia

    In Indonesia, where the interplay between climate variability and infectious diseases is pronounced, Dengue Fever poses a significant threat, particularly in Central Java, ranking as the province with the third-highest incidence of Dengue cases nationwide. This study adopts a proactive approach, employing cluster analysis techniques—single linkage, average linkage, and Ward’s method—to categorize cities and regencies in Central Java based on their susceptibility to Dengue outbreaks. The comparative analysis, facilitated by standard deviation values, reveals nuanced vulnerability patterns, with the single linkage method presenting the most refined categorization, yielding four distinct vulnerability clusters: very low (0.097), low (0.150), medium (0.205), and high (0.303). Furthermore, spatial analysis utilizing Moran’s Index indicates a positive spatial autocorrelation among Dengue cases (Moran’s I = 0.62, p 0.05), underscoring the spatial homogeneity in case distribution across regions. These findings emphasize the critical need for targeted interventions and evidence-based policymaking to effectively combat Dengue transmission in Central Java and mitigate its public health impact

Gendhing with the lampah tiga structure is one of the special gendhing structures because it has a bar where not many gendhing repertoires have this bar, so, of course, there are many problems for the composer, especially the ricikan kendang to present this gendhing structure, knowledge is needed to determine the interpretation and garap variant so that it can identify and present gendhing with structure. The method used is a descriptive analysis based on empirical knowledge. Empirical knowledge will help in analyzing the variety and interpretation of the lampah tiga structure, while the garap approach is used as a tool to dissect the musical situation in the intended gendhing structure. The qualitative descriptive data analysis method is carried out by observing the validity of the data through data triangulation. Accurate data collection through library research, interviews, and observations is expected to be able to explore the work on kendhangan gendhing lampah tiga. It is hoped that this research will be able to support teaching and learning activities in the form of textbooks, and it is hoped that it can add references to karawitan knowledge books

The formulation of the problem in this study is how to transform and diversify Banten TV's business in maintaining the broadcasting industry business. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a case study approach by exploring the transformation and Diversification of the Banten TV Business; the paradigm used is constructivism with the theory of media ecology from Marshall McLuhan. Hasi research shows that Banten TV, as the largest local television in Banten province, transforms broadcast content by broadcasting entertainment and local wisdom, such as the local culture and religion in Banten province. With broadcast coverage using a 5000-watt transmitter, it certainly has a potential role in raising local wisdom with a very wide radiance; the transformation of Banten TV broadcast content is carried out by raising a religious superior program with the name of the Sholawat program (Solusi Tepat Per erat Umat) as a superior program in raising local wisdom in Banten which is religious and also the exploration of tourist destinations in the Banten region.     Correlating EFL learners’ critical thinking ability and listening comprehension strategies

    Even though there have been numerous studies on the use of critical thinking in language learning, research that specifically explores the relationship between critical thinking skills and listening comprehension techniques is still infrequently performed in the context of learning English in Indonesia. This study aims to reveal the correlation between EFL students' listening comprehension strategies and their critical thinking ability. Fifty Indonesian EFL students of both sexes were chosen as the study's participants to accomplish this. They were all advanced students that were chosen through cluster sampling. The Critical Thinking Questionnaire (CTQ) and the Listening Comprehension Strategies Questionnaire were the two tools used (RCSQ). On the first day, the researcher thoroughly explained the instructions for this survey and gave the participants a CTQ to assess the tactics they had used. LCSQ was delivered to them on the second day. All of the questions had to be answered within the allotted time by the participants. Fortunately, none of the students missed any of the gathered data, which will improve the accuracy of the findings. The study's conclusions showed a strong correlation between advanced EFL students' listening comprehension techniques and their capacity for critical thought. Results may be important because they help students overcome any challenges they may have with particular language abilities by identifying the tactics they use

    Indonesian Waste Database: Smart Mechatronics System

    Waste management is an essential component of urban management. As a waste solution, waste management is critical. The goal of this research is to develop a waste management database that is coupled with a mechatronic robot system. Compiling and gathering data on the sorts of garbage found in Indonesia is the starting point for this research. Indonesian waste is classified into six groups: cardboard, paper, metal, plastic, medical, and organic. The total images of the six groups are estimated at 1880 pictures. According to this picture database, Artificial Intelligence (AI) training was used to create the classification system. In the final AI process, the test method was performed using DenseNet121, DenseNet169, and DenseNet201. Testing using artificial intelligence DenseNet201 across 40 epochs yields the best 92,7% accuracy rate. Simultaneously with Artificial Intelligence testing, a mechatronic system is created as a direct implementation of the Artificial Intelligence output model. A four-servo arm robot with dc motor wheel mobility is included in the mechatronic system. According to these findings, the Indonesian waste database can be categorized correctly using Artificial Intelligence and the mechatronics system. This higher accuracy of the artificial intelligence model may be used to create a waste-sorting robot prototype
