Reconsideration of the 1985 Plaza Accord - An economic or political defeat for Japan?\n
Get PDFP(論文)This essay analyzes the Plaza Accord of 1985 as the main cause of the Japanese bubble economy of the late 1980s. Firstly, the U.S. economy during the first period of Reagan era is discussed and the balance of payments issue is reviewed utilizing economic theory. Secondly, the Plaza Accord as a means to fix the trade imbalance between the U.S. and Japan is examined, both in terms of the policy formulation process and economic theory. Lastly, a comprehensive evaluation of the agreement, which used to be called an origin of the economic defeat of Japan, is made.
Analyzing the trade imbalance issue within the framework of economic theory helps to suggest that the actual approach taken to fix the trade issue was politicized in defiance of economic considerations throughout. Some recollections of the participants are also utilized to look back on the bubble economy and the long decline of Japan's economy after its bursting.departmental bulletin pape

On the basis of his Christian faith, he fought against the imperialistic war and the exclusive hyper-nationalism which oppressed freedom of thought and conscience from 1932 to the end of the war. This article attempts to make clear the character of his conception of pacifism, nationalism, and the Emperor system. Get PDFP(論文)This paper analyzes the characteristics of nouns in English, which is categorized as a non-numeral classifier language, and of classifiers in Indonesian, which is categorized as a numeral classifier language. It is shown that the wholeness of the noun affects the selection of numeral classifiers in Indonesian. Moreover, it will be claimed that Indonesian nouns are construed as more “synthetic” than English ones. An Effect of Journal Writing Instruction on English Writing Skill of Junior High School Students
Get PDFP(論文)Junior high school students at adolescence become too conscious of lack of fluency in second language and hesitate to express themselves. Especially, the writing skill has been reported to decrease compared with other skills of English proficiency；speaking, listening, and reading. This study focuses on writing instruction over the long run, one whole year. Journal writing task with a teacher's emotive feedback was given to the students with the intention of encouraging the students to communicate with the teacher. Get PDFP(論文)This study discusses using Japanese literature as teaching materials in Japanese classrooms. The inclusion of literature in Japanese language teaching （JLT） will provide students with the opportunities to experience and use the language more creatively and to develop greater awareness of the language, this world, and their lives. Literature can play a significant role in university JLT classrooms, and it should undoubtedly be integrated as an essential part of JLT. However, in Japan, the materials and classroom activities focus on the referential function of the language and do not offer opportunities for imaginative involvement. From a wider educational perspective, poetry in particular will represent a challenge within JLT. It seems to have the unique, essential ability to enrich learners' emotional lives. Through efforts to read a variety of defamiliarized expressions, learners will have opportunities for flexible tolerance and tranquil reflection. More research is required to explore the potential for literature as materials, to find out what types of texts teachers should choose, and how and in what ways literature should be used in the language classroom.departmental bulletin pape
